Thanks for not overplaying that drum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clean and simple, served the song!
Clean grooves, nobody overplaying, clearly a well rehearsed band. This is how one plays behind an act like Shakira. Thanks for the unique perspective of your awesome career Brendan! Not a pop music fan, but I've always had an appreciation for the Latin influence Shakira's music brings to mainstream music. Drums are about the most important factor in that. Brendan nails the transitions between common pop beats and those syncopated clave grooves like a boss. Fabulous to watch, you can learn a lot by closely paying attention to how a pro drummer performs.

@@Jump-2-the-moon ....? The "basic" playing is exactly burt's point. Brendan Buckley is insanely good and he knows that he plays drums to do what's best for the music at that moment. Shakira is who they came to see at this concert. It would be unprofessional to take away from letting her shine.

He is doing exactly what he is being PAID to do. He has been Shakira's touring drummer for years. Obviously, she thinks he is doing something right!

This is how a session drummer makes their living, playing the groove...nothing fancy just solid
Definitely man straight up professional not overdoing anything perfect timing just amazing man
Brendan, watching this puts a smile on my face. You're such a mature, professional musician. No wonder you are traveling around the world with that studio-like quality musicianship.
Damn! Ok, this dude has had the Shakira gig for 20 years! Yes, 20. Wow. Brendan, your striking consistency is top notch man. Love it. AND that splash/crash on the ride is just genius! Keep inspiring us!
Wow, I'm blown away. after watching his gear walk thru then watching it in action, this is pure eye candy! Brendan has vastly just become one of my favorite drummers. so professional!

This is a true professional right here, playing perfectly to the song, never overplaying or showing off whilst still utilising the whole drum kit and maintaining a great groove. Props to you sir!
Love his relaxed and controlled playing. Nice work indeed. After playing each song so much, it seems like you can relax anyway and enjoy the show!
Timing is spot on , not a count out of place , a drummer that knows how to make the artist shine ,simple, easy, tight with, a splash..... top job
The splash on the ride around 3:00 sounds soooo gooood

Dude, thanks so much for pointing that out. At first I couldn't figure out what it was and thought it might be a percussion player or something. I need to try that! Thank you :)
This guy (Brendan) is really a legendary drummer 💙... Lots of love from INDIA 🇮🇳🤍...
Brendan, HUGE props to you for all the thought, preparation and time that's gone into being the backbone of this kind of tour. Just watched the DRUM mag overview of your setup, and all the backups and redundancies you've put in place are really impressive. THIS is what a drummer SHOULD be...someone who is there to drive and help lead the band through any situation. Very impressed.
Honestly this video is amazing. I love how intentionally each section is played. I come back to it regularly for inspiration
I like the fact he played each chorus little differently. And included Dynamics in a hit world cup song.
Absolute Pro! I love all the subtle beat variations in each section, just enough to give each part its own character without being overly busy.
The artist behind the artist. Respect!
Best drummer ever seen in the world
An outstanding job! Still one of my favorite drummers that has ever existed in Pop culture!
Amazed how simple the drumming was, not flashy. Yet the drumming is so in charge of the song and tempo and feel of the music. Every movement matters and needs to be so in tune with the performer and the music. Very impressive. These views of individual band members give so much more appreciation for the talents of all the band members.
I feel pop drummers are underrated. All the gear they have to work with and samples, and of course being great drummers
Thank you for this video. Mind blowing performance from all of you.
That's simple and more efficient than overplaying. Pro drummer is not equal to make a break or skill every five seconds. 😎🤘
The development stages of your typical drummer: 1. Speed is all (look at that guy) 2. Rudiments and fills is all (look at all my chops) 3. Timing is all (turned out speed and chops sound terrible out of time) 4. Music is all (I’ll play what fits the music) I’m still at 3. Brendan is at 5.

@@toadetteremotewithwiimotio3330 Travis Barker? Even when he plays complex patterns, not only he keeps the beat amazingly but also uses his drum set in a very musical way. In fact there's a lot of videos explaining how he relies more on the instrument he uses than on the dynamics to create different musical landscapes

Great job Brendan. This is exactly how you approach playing for an international star. Stay in your lane, serve the songs and collect flawless shows night after night. Anyone saying you need to play more notes clearly doesn’t get it.
I cant imagine the feeling playing for a crowd that big! Must be so surreal.
Major nostalgia from summer camp listen to shakira with all the Spanish campers... thanks for reminding me of my younger years!!!
Amazing. Thanks for showing us!
Awesome view! Thnx for video. Never imagined how it is being on the stage large like that, breathtaking experience. You're awesome!
I love the perspective. I have played for a few decent audiences, but never a stadium. Thanks for putting us in the driver's seat!
Bwoah!! That outro was so clean it literally rocked my socks off
If you think this is simple, you'd be correct. Welcome to not everything is a drum solo. Live drumming, studio drumming, small gig drumming. All VERY different animals. Learn to be a drummer and you can appreciate what Brendan is doing

I've been drumming for over 7 years ruthlessly. I can rightfully say that he is a true professional. To play as tightly and consistently as he does takes ages, to be able to play these beats with this ease also means that you are able to play much more difficult pieces as well. Cause Brendan can play incredibly complex rhythms from African tradition and such. He never really plays them but that added skill makes the songs he plays that much easier and fluid more wiggle room for error's and have them be totally unnoticeable.

@@inoayh The fact that there's sheet music on the laptops next to him disqualifies pretty much all of the guys in the comments from this gig, too.
Professional drummer! This is what is needed and nothing more. Bravoooo
Drummer is a rock. Shakira is the the show. A pro gets it.
As a lover of metal music and drums, I love this just as much! those drums (and everything really) sounds so good!
To think that Shakira (and every arena!!) is grooving to the beats you're laying own every night.
Love the videos Brendan! - It's awesome to get a drum view like this.
Enjoying every second... serving the music! so musical! and clean!
This is the ultimate live drum performance i ve ever seen. God bless u buddy. 😍 Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Despite not being a fan of pop music, I find THIS is how you do it right. With a band. Not programmed. Sure, this stuff may be simple in terms of beats, but damn, the timing and skill is ALL there! Much respect.
This song gave me goosebumps! Awesome playing!!
Clean clean clean thanks for posting this....
Wow I would kill to have a gig like that...great job Brendan proud of you...keep up the good work and professionalism.
Thanks Brendan! Amazing work!

Absolutely fabolous. This is how to Play those kinda Songs live!
I love you man and you are absolutely out of this world. I'm your fan. Greatest thing I have ever watched on a live concert
PERFECT DRUMMING in the context of what the song needs. Love it
Love the relaxed playing. Pitch perfect :D
That's an impressive drum kit & cymbal set up. I like the splash stacked on top of the ride. Great idea! I need to try that on.my kit. Cheers!
Wow, this first time l watch a concert from the band's perspective! Love it!
Great performance of a trully professional and gifted drummer. Perfect compasso and tempo, good balance and sound splash, correct posture. The performance is the right one for this song. No wonder u play with Shakira for so long.
Was juuuust watching waka waka live version and thought to myself what an amazing drumming and then I came on to this.... props!!!!
Playing anything in front of a crowd like that has to be amazing
Came into this video cause youtube suggested it and im so glad, never heard of you before brendan, but you are one hell of a pro drummer.
I've been watching this countless... The snare sound is so sweet....
On stage even the simple beats are hardest to play...this guy is the one who can rule the whole stage if he plays solo drum bt here he is playing how much it's required 🙏🙏🙏

Good for you for thinking you are better than him. Not everyone is Dave Weckl, Buddy Rich or Dennis Chambers. He got this gig playing for one of the biggest acts in the world and you did not. He is nice enough to post videos showing us what it is like sitting from behind the kit with Shakira. I think he does a great job. That is my opinion, and obviously (more importantly) Shakira's. Good luck to you in getting the gigs by telling everyone that you are better than they are. I hope that works for you. Thank-you Brendan for posting. Not the type of music I would listen to but always interested in how people cover all the sounds in pop music like this. Keep up the great work!
I've got to say you have a beautiful kit and an awesome groove. Keep it up man!
That's a beautiful kit. Already saw the rundown and learned a lot of new stuff.
This is my dream, man! It's perfect! The big hall with really good equipment... oh ..I'm in astonishment... Keep it man! Shakira is really good singer! And you are really good drummer!
Every hit sounds the same. So satisfying to watch.

I love the cleanliness, control and Professionalism here When im the one who played there i might double pedaled this and turn waka waka into a metal song.
Very cool shot man! Love the view behind the kit!

I've loved Brendan's style since the the first time I saw him play with Damien Rice back in 2007. Great charisma too! It goes a long way for a drummer to have a unique personality in the bottom groove. Keep up the great work BB!

As someone who struggles with anxiety it's kinda nice to know that most times or at least a lot of the times people are gonna want you to play something simple and fun. We all get worried about having the coolest chops but no one even wants us to play that lol. Also cool to see that you really don't have to hit super hard and tire yourself out or injure yourself. Mics do a lot!
Now there are a lot of drumming lessons on KZread. Many people make drum covers. But this video allows you to look at the show from a different angle. This is exactly what I want to see. How often it happened that when you watching performance, you can not choose which musician to watch. I want to see the drummer, I want to see HOW he played it. But at this point they show me the guitarist)) Thank you, Brendan! Keep making such videos. Greetings from Russia ;)

Beautiful Sound! You Play so clear😍 Greetings from Germany!
very cool drumming bro..love your simple chops and grooves which suits the occasion
Dude is a master at his craft. Salute from Brazil. Pocket master!
I don't see why some here are negative? This is Shakira, the main focus is HER. In rock there will obviously be more attention to/room for the drummer to show of but here it's mostly a background instrument that makes the audience dance. Brendan is awesome! Good grooves, nice well placed fills, good timing and overall very musical playing of him.
I see a load of people commenting about haters but no actual hate comments lol? Maybe all the nasty stuff got deleted, but mostly I just see a lot of love for a great perspective of a class drummer backing a huge concert artist. Great watch and listen.
