    Thanks for the video. I have been using this system for over a month now and I am very happy with how easy the system is. I dont use the tray portion of the box as you demonstated. Between The Cattery video and your video I was able to make a decision. The litter box system is well worth the cost. It is well made. I purchased the covered box since my cats are kickers. Speaking of kicking, the pellets are much easier and cleaner to sweep up.

    Had watched the cattery lady’s video on this and just switched to pine pellets today, was using the regular breeze pellets and tray up til now. It felt AMAZING to throw those trays away once and for all, so liberating! 😅 no more stinky urine filled trays! Your idea of going diagonally with the pads is brilliant, I have some 21x21 pads left over and wanting to use those up, kinda small for this. But diagonal it’ll work so much better! Thanks!! Wolf, Calli, Lakota and Leo thanks you too 🥰 I had 2 cats, and just took in 2 more, so this is going to be so much cheaper, healthier, easier and less stinky!

    yay! We transitioned about two weeks ago and the cats have taken to it just fine. We also used a diaper genie per your rec and it's felt less like a chore now because we dont always have to run to the trash -- if there are any concerns about smell, just empty out trash more frequently. We did have to get a second litter box to put in the basement and there is no space for sawdust to fall through, so if you want it to be easier -- just get the breeze system and then so phresh litter box for the sawdust.

    4:45 the pellets are SUPPOSED to go through the scoop. The idea is to just get the poops with the scooper, letting the pellets fall through (and actually I wish the slots were even bigger, because the pellets only barely fit through mine). It is rare for a poop to be smaller than the slats in the scoop, but it happens. I've been using the same setup, but more like the original cattery's video. I have a single Maine Coon. I am using the extra large pan underneath, and I only have to replace the pad every 2 weeks, which means the box I got will likely last me close to 4 years. I get my kiln-dried pellets at a nearby Walmart for about $6-$7, since I haven't otherwise found a nearby equestrian store (or Tractor Supply, as the cattery's video suggested). Best part of this is no smell at all, at least in my opinion. I do wish he tracked less of it out, but it's still not as bad as the old clumping litter.

    This litter box system is the best. Been using for over a year. Only needed 2 bags of litter ($10) and still on the same box of pads and I have 2 cats. Seriously gets rid of cat piss/ammonia smell. Buy a GRILL BRUSH for it... hear me out before going "wtf", I use the bottom metal end to scoop the turds into my scooper instead of fishing for them. You can scoop just the turds instead of having to sift to get the pieces of the litter out which saves $. I scoop the "wet litter" with that too into the slits and then use the brush part of the grill brush to get anything stuck in the slits to fall down into the bottom. It works magically I'm so happy I figured that out. Try it! I also just use a trash can next to the litter box with a button to click for the lid to pop up, put a trash bag in it, and put the turds in there when I scoop until I'm ready to clean the whole thing. Which works if you dont want to splurge on a diaper genie.

    I use a small bathroom sized trash can with a tight fitting lid with step-to-open mechanism for the cat turds. I'm not sure how safe cat turds are for the sewage and septic system so I don't flush them. My state banned plastic grocery bags so I use produce bags that seem to fit the trash can ok. I don't smell the cat turds when they're in the trash can with the lid tightly fitted.

    Khloe transitioned to the pellet system very easily. I loaded her box with the pellets and scattered some used litter. She took to the pellets with no issues. I do not use the pads. Her "washroom" is located in my bathroom. So when she poos, I notice it and I scoop it out and flush it away. I empty her box (the bottom one) about every week to 10 days. I am amazed at the savings and the smell or lack of. With regular litter there was always an odor (clean litter or otherwise). Every once in a while she unloads a real stinker but for the most part, I don't notice the poop until I go to the washroom. I LOVE THIS LITTER SYSTEM! She still manages to scatter a few pellets out of the box but much easier to sweep up. Unfortunately, stepping on the pellets during a barefoot, middle of the night pee pee run is kind of like stepping on an itty nitty LEGO. But not quite as painful. 😀

    If you're using the tidy cats breeze pellets and pads, yes they can be expensive. What they do and others do is slightly modify how the box is used. I think everyone takes out the pad drawer and not use it. The pellets can be bought at hardware stores and feed stores for $5 a bag. Then the pads they use in this video are meant for dogs who are trained to potty on pads... I haven't switched to using pine pellets and just buy the breeze brand pellets and pads on amazon. I do use dog training pads underneath my litter boxes though and you can buy a bag of them for $20 or less depending on size and quantity. Mine were clearance where I work so I bought 3 bags of XL pads 100ct on a huge discount but they were regular price $19.99 and if you use your box like they do in this video then you'd use 1 pad a week probably.

    I use a top entry litter box for my cats since I have dogs and an open litter box is a no no. So I have been using pellets, scooping the poop everyday, and then every few days I will dump the pellets into a litter sifter to collect the pee dust, then pour the whole pellets back into the top entry box. It's an extra step but so much more worth it compared to using traditional cat litter that was much harder to scoop out pee and poop everyday. I also have a litter genie I scoop the poo into and the pee dust.

I really do like how yall placed the diaper bc I was folding the dog pee pads but folding it to fit on the bottom of the litter box . it's so strange that this video was recommended to me oh in case someone did know they make cat genies and they are sold for 14 dollars on target and Walmart its a bit price than 5 dollars but cheaper than baby genies.

    i'm so excited to find this video after finding the cattery's video! i want to switch over to a pine pellet litter system like this to be more green (since clay litter is so terrible for the environment), avoid my kitty's wheat/grass/corn allergy, and also because i've heard great things about the odor control with this setup. i'm very interested in how important you think the puppy pads are to this system; it seems counterproductive to my efforts to be eco-friendly to be throwing away a puppy pad every 2 days for my 2 kitties and was wondering if those using this setup think a biodegradable/compostable litter liner would be effective enough at collecting sawdust and urine in the bottom pan.

  • @RuetheSphynx

    @RuetheSphynx

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes the puppy pad is the worst part of this setup by far. We are currently brainstorming potential alternatives actually! The pad soaks up an incredible amount of urine, but soooo much plastic. We are thinking of trying a small amount of silica litter at the bottom instead of a pad. Experiments to be done!

  • @wkycincinicinnati

    @wkycincinicinnati

    I'm switching my cat to this system. Another video maker suggests putting a small amount of pellets in the bottom of the "catch pan" so if urine goes thru the slats, it can be absorbed by the pellets on the bottom. This person doesn't use puppy pads at all since it is so easy to empty sawdust into a bag. I'm a homeowner, so I'm going to empty the sawdust around my trees and along the fence line (hoping it will kill the weeds there the way mulch would but act as mulch in a good way around shrubs and trees). When I start my compost bin, I'll just empty the sawdust directly into it (for non-edible plants).

    I'm struggling right now. I switched to this system because I hate clay. I love everything about it when it comes to my male. He acclimated and uses it without a problem. The female, though, seems a bit more sensitive. She first peed on the ground around the box, so I put a puppy pad down just in case. Now, she prefers to pee and poo on it instead of the box. When she does decide to use the box, she won't go very far in and winds up peeing on the lip, which then sprays down onto the ground just outside the box. Sprinkling a little bit of clay on top might work sometimes for her, but then it clogs up the open slots. I really don't want to go back, but I might have to get her a separate box with some other clay alternative so she'll consistently poop there. *also want to add that another point for me doing this is to cut down on waste (I know, puppy pads are almost making up the difference). I don't want to use poop bags, though, or some system of holding the waste. I just flush the poo down the toilet, which for me is pretty close to the litter box room.

    Rather than use a cat genie and have yet more plastic to buy and put in the landfill, I have always used my dog's biodegradable poo bags, which then go directly into the outdoor garbage bin (we have the big ones the trash truck picks up weekly). Also, I think it will be easy to dump the sawdust and clean out the bottom of the collection pan, so I'm skipping the puppy pads altogether. The sustainability issue - and the dust that got all over the baseboards and toilet tank - pushed me to finally change to a more sustainable system. Less money, less dust, better for my cat, better for the earth - big win! Currently we're using finely ground, kiln dried pine sawdust sold as horse bedding. It's inexpensive, but I change it more often than I would need to change the pellet sawdust. It's not a bad system, but I do dump the whole litter box every 5 days or so. But now that she's used to wood, I'm going to gradually add the pellets to transition her to the pellets. I didn't think she'd take to the pellets very easily and she's an old kitty, so I'm trying to make it as easy a transition for her as I can make it. Thanks for a very informative and entertaining video! (p.s. what does the tattoo say? I couldn't make it out sideways LOL

    Originally yes, we had another larger litter pan underneath to collect the dust and urine. We found it wasn't needed as we change the pad often enough to not need the extra space, so now place the puppy pad in the bottom underneath the sifting portion of the Breeze. Still a work in progress though because those massive plastic puppy pads suck for polluting the Earth.
