When it comes to people saying the leaves are clear or dark, what do they mean? I just went south 10 hours to a large clivia farm for wholesale with 1000s and many more in greenhouses for sale only to landscapers and watched them throw hundreds if not thousands away because the cross they wanted was clear they said and only a small percentage were that way, the rest they threw out. I was born on the wrong continent for sure. Thank you Mike

We had a very rainy winter this year in California and some of my clivias (outdoor growing) have yellow leaves . Do they just need to get a chance to dry out?

Hi Dawn, when crossing orange and yellow with each other, you will get berries and seeds which after eight months you can plant the seeds, when those Clivia have grown to maturity only then will you have the new cross and the new colours. In your example they will unfortunately all be orange as orange is the dominant default colour in clivias. A clivia plant can never change its own colour, but by breeding with it you can create new Clivia colours in the next generation. You are welcome to contact me if you want to discuss more details. Môre Manie, het so 'n paar dae terug begin om jou te volg op jou video posts. Dit is verskriklik interessant en so baie inligting wat ek nie van bewus was nie. Ek is nog 'n beginner en het 'n paar jaar terug begin om saad te oes en te plant, maar my probleem is die spasie, daarom het ek en my dogter besluit om saam met dit aan te gaan aangesien sy die spasie het. Ek het die laaste paar jaar heelwat Clivias op skoue gekoop, soos 'n geel plant, donker/rooi , peach, pienk en brons, asook saad (hirao groen, brons, pienk, rooi en ghost). Ek was op daardie stadium nie bewus dat daar so iets is soos verskillende groep (groep 1 & 2), en ander agtergrond inligting wat jy moet weet om te begin kweek met Clivias. Is daar 'n manier om uit te vind watter groep is die clivias wat ek gekoop het. Die kwekers by wie ek dit gekoop het gee nie die inligting vir jou nie, heel moonmtlik omdat hulle nie weet jy wil ook begin met die kweking. Kan jy my dalk raad gee asseblief of kan ek jou dalk skakel. Neels Marais

Learned it the hard way, buy good quality plants from reputable persons. Rather spend a bit more money on quality plants with known genetics than just buying any cheap clivia.
