Pure-bred spawnings of Parrot Cichlids are rare, but it's not do to infertility. Much like the liger or a mule, their "half-breed" hybrid makeup has thrown their DNA sequences out-of-sync from one example to another... and as result, no offspring can be bared by a all-one-type pairing. However, as I've mentioned, there are cases of pure-breds born from such pairings, but they're extremely rare and might have health issues that limit their functionality and lifespan. But, If one is lucky enough to have a spawn-barring pair at the hobby level, they just won the lottery and can write thier own paycheck... because pure-breds command big money.

Most probably the eggs will be hatched, and you will be getting a new headache of hundreds of parrot fish hybrid fries 😂, btw congrats...

I have a male and female blood parrot fish they have laid eggs a few times but didn't hatch. Thing is the last time was last week and the males not sure what they call it where the sperm comes from became enlarged. I've been putting a ulcer and sore medication in the tank as he seemed sluggish just kept going in one spot and not eating. Today he's swimming about but it's still swollen but better than it was. What could it be ???

Try breeding the female with a male flowerhorn, it produces fish, since flowerhorns are considered stable enough that they don’t have infertility issues. If you’re lucky, you can line-breed for Kirin parrots, which are blood parrots with the color of a flowerhorn.

No issues let them fight, they need to earn the territory, and these fishes don't harm so much to each other, so I'm not worried

I was planning to start breeding of parrots as a hobby later i get to know there are very low chance. But to fulfill my hobby can you suggest which fish i can breed in my aquarium tanks with my intermediate knowledge on fishes

There are many options, I'll suggest you to start with fishes which are rewarding and also you could make some profit out of that, if you plan to sell them, 1, Angel fish, 2, Goldfish 3, African cichlids 4, Mollies, 5, convicts. I've tried with all of these and with the minimal effort you could also start breeding these fishes.

Hi, I have a dominative male parrot and my female parrot has laid eggs and I separated the male because hes dominative/chases her and all other fishes all the time.. Now I don't know should I bring the male back in the separated female tank or it will destroy the eggs?? Please help me!!!

Firstly don't wait for eggs to hatch, most probably they won't, and it's very rare case when a pair is fighting, I have never seen this behaviour in my 3 pairs of BP's , they do fight alot but only with other pairs, Maybe your tank is small , what's your tank size? And how many fishes are there? And which species?

@@sujitraikwar2149 my original tank is 50 gallon where they used to stay but there are some fishes i didnt trust with the female parrot so I separated her in a small tank. Now the female used to be a fire yellow and the male used to be a teal color parrot but both of them are orange now and the male has black spots all over his body so I keep him separated occasionally on the small tank. But the male is somewhat dominative even on the female so I separated the female. Now please tell me does the eggs need to be fertilized by the father or not??

@@prvkr the black spots on one of your bp is the sign of stress, give them hiding space, BP's are very harmless to other fishes of same size because of there mouth structure, and it's very rare for an male parrot to fertilize the eggs, so don't keep so much hope, just give them space to swim, place to hide and good quality food to eat, best of luck!

@@sujitraikwar2149 you're lecturing me stuff I don't need to know! Ofc I know about his problems and I treat him well for that and occasional other treatments.. I just asked you about the eggs so kindly stick to that and if you can help please do about the situation that I just added the male in that tank too but the female is not tolerating his presence and trying to abuse him and making the male to stay away from the eggs. Should I separate them again?

Anywhere you get a blood parrot or any other Amphilophus hybrid. Pet stores, online, you just have to have a good eye for it. Since the video tell you how to sex ‘em, use the visual cues. If I remember from my pairs(infertile), the male has a single straight triangular spike, while the female has an ovipositor that looks more rounded(or like two rounded spikes, depends on your female).

Yeah they do that XD , parrot fishes are mostly infertile, and there eggs don't hatch, but if you bread female parrot fish with some another specie, example firemouth, the eggs can hatch, but there babies will be hybrids of both the parents.

Goodwin's Aquatics they don’t have the severe body deformity that the usual BP have. What is their breeding? I do absolutely love them and would be interested in obtaining some just like them. 😊
