Don't be so hard on yourself, there's positives there, the dressage is very good, and he can jump. It'll all come together eventually xx

Hi there from to hot Florida! Had to comment because I too moved up in height and got the big "E"!!! But i knew I would after walking the XC , My horse and I just don't have enough practices on the bigger jumps, he's the kind to go with caution rather than bravery right now and as I chicken out if I feel him looking and questioning a jump he"ll slam on brakes! So I move him to a farm with a XC course too overcome these issues and I'm enjoying the journey!! Take the time to get the confidence for you both, and enjoy the process!

Love your honesty, you might see this as a fail but I would like to learn from it 😂 I’m interested in what your coach might have to say and I look forward to seeing how far you both will come in a years time, keep it up surely it can only get better

Lovely horse. To me he looks like he just needs to get fitter and stronger. He moves well, jumps well and seems to have a willing personality. Eventing needs a lot of strength and endurance. Do you ever take him to the gallops?

He did not have the usual xcountry eagerness at the start box and beyond . Guess you will sort out if he looks forward to it as much as you do and want to do! Kudos to you! Take your time to find out so does not need not so much urging on your part . Has he done eventing in younger years? Following you from across the pond.

He's only 7 and neither of us had evented before, he's not the type to drag me about the place, that's not his style!

Nice video except on the cross country I only heard one 'good boy' ....think a little bit more praise & encouragement wouldn't hurt. ❤

That’s very strange that he doesn’t seem to be enjoying himself. Most horses find the cross country to be the most fun. Maybe some cross-country schooling lessons?

He looks rather dead to the leg and resentful and your over riding just compounds. He needs to up fitness, get lighter and lift through his frame. He’s got obvious ability but I don’t think you two are on the same page in your partnership. Great idea to drop back right back and start from the ground up. Ground work can light him up whilst giving him leadership and direction without having to resort to the stick when all else is failing. Take it as a reset moment in order to achieve 100 with ease. Steve Young horsemanship is worth a watch for ground work brilliance.
