"Breathe" - What have you done today? Today I saved a life?

Have you ever wondered what its like to be a 999 Call handler in SECAmb. These dedicated staff are the first point of contact for the public, their decisions are crucial to the successful outcome of many patients emergency situations.
The 999 Call Handler team (known internally as Emergency Medical Advisers) use a triage system called NHS Pathways to assess the severity of a 999 call and provide life saving advice whilst the ambulance service response is on its way. The staff in our Emergency Operation Centers (EOC) are the people behind the scenes without which the ambulance service could not function.
If you have ever thought of a career in the ambulance service EOC go to www.secambrecruitment.co.uk/

That call was pretty accurate... hysterical, screaming, dogs woofing,... It's hard to deal with irate hysterical people. It's also less likely to succeed when you are losing your mind. I mean, I get that it might be the worst fear coming true, but as long as there is still hope, it REALLY REALLY helps the chances of the patient or your loved one if you can stay calm (or at least fake it and keep your freaking out inside) to attempt to listen to instructions and help your loved one, friend, or bystander. I've come to learn that not everyone can keep a cool head in an emergency. Very few people actually. Which is why Paramedics and emergency nurses etc. are such phenomenal people most of the time.

Brilliant film. Brilliant people. Much love for you all from EMA's to Advanced Paramedics brilliant and heroic heroes!! This film show the unsung heroes, they'll say that they are not heroes and it's their job but in my and many others opinions you are all heroes, Emergency Medical Advisors. They are the first person you talk to when you are unwell. In this example Debbie may not remember Christina however she started the care and potentially saved a life. I think it's brilliant how the do calls such as this one and forget it and move on. Love you all. SECAMB did the baby survive??
