This would work wonderfully as a duet between Isabella and Mirabel with this song being a duet between the two after Antonio's gift ceremony and Mariano's proposal. On one hand we have Mirabel wishing for a Miracle so that she may be as good as her family, and on the other hand we have Isabela who feels the pressure grow too heavy for her to bear. She can no longer meet the standards of perfection her grandmother imposes on her and the breathe part of the song is her thoughts on not being perfect, not being useful enough for the villagers and her panicking over what to do and where to go on from the marriage proposal she knows is going to change her life.

Note: Both of these songs for this mashup written and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. This is a Disney and Warner Bros. musical mashup since In the Heights was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, while Encanto are produced by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Animation Studios. @@FukiMakai yes exactly. In fact, both Disney and Warner Bros. are also appearing in a special cameos in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) including the iconic piano battle between Donald Duck and Daffy Duck, as well as Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny share screen appearances together.

Well... Stephanie Beatritz didn't really "star" in In the Heights. Just a small character

I really love the middle section building up to the "when I was a child" bridge, it's very satisfying. I knew these songs would go really well together musically and thematically.

this sounds like two people the person singing waiting on a miracle wants to be admired and acknowledged the parson singing breathe is someone who's is admired and acknowleged but she couldn't keep up with everyones expectations (so basically the madrigal sisters)

the "Hey guys its me, I will stand on the side as you shine" hits so hard i love it

It's uncanny how Lin's songs are one big mashup, got chills from beginning to end!!

When friends vent to each other about their self doubt and family tensions.

I KNEW AT SOME POINT THESE TWO WOULD WORK TOGETHER. I kept hearing them and in the back of my kind I was thinking gee, these songs are kinda ish similar to sing, why dont sing both.

Honestly I was expecting breathing from Ariana grande, but this song actually fits better!!! Even though I haven't seen in the heights, this song is beautifully inserted.....bravo. Around of applause for this human being. ♥️

And both songs are also composed by the same songwriter, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Additionally, Stephanie Beatritz, who voiced protagonist character, Mirabel Madrigal from Disney's Encanto was also portraited as Carla from In the Heights, since both films was released that same last year, 2021.

I saw In The Heights a few weeks ago and this was one of the stand-out songs for me, you did a great job mashing it up with Waiting On A Miracle! :)

From the moment I heard Waiting on a Miracle I knew someone would do this mashup, but this was so well executed! Bravo! I found this while I was finally getting around to checking they were in the same key. What I’m still turning over in my head, is why while I think Breathe was one of the strongest songs in In the Heights, I think Waiting on a Miracle was one of the weaker songs in Encanto. I think it’s because I find the melody in Breathe so much more unexpected and interesting, and also I personally resonate with the sentiment more. In Encanto, we’ve already seen Mirabel explain everyone’s gifts by that point and the voice acting has communicated her wish to be more like her family, so the song seemed more obligatory than necessary. Still both amazing songs, and different enough that we can’t accuse LMM of plagiarising himself 😂 (although if anyone else had written Waiting, I’m sure there would be grumbling on LMM’s behalf).

From the very first moment I heard Waiting on a Miracle I remembered of Breathe. Great job :')
