Breath of Fire III: A King Among Classics (Review)

Ойындар

Breath of Fire III remains one of my favorite RPGs ever since I first played it back in 1997. Let's see if it still holds up in this edition of Point-Less Review.

This is one of those games I wish I could play, I was never able to finish it as a kid, now it's hard to find. Excellent review, your videos are very polished.

Yeah, would love a chance to replay this. So many memories. Capcom did the Breath of Fire series dirty after IV.

One of my favorite games of all time. Sad that my mother had to sell my copies since I went away from home, I still have BoFIV and Dragon Quarter and actively trying to get a hard copy of my old games since I'm a physical guy. I like your style of reviews, very unique and you have no gimmick or act in a goofy way to attract viewers. Keep up the good work.

I'm a physical gamer myself. I love the Breath of Fire games. Thanks for your kind words. They mean a lot 😊 A couple times now I've rethought the KZread thing, just because it takes so long to put it all together. It's comments like these that keep me going, so thank you 😊

Just discovered your channel today. Watched about 6 vids, this being the last one I watched. Hope you can up the rate of videos released. This reminds me a lot of older Super Derek videos which I loved until he switched to mostly rpg news vids. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot for the kind words. I'm always thinking of ideas, but with a family and whatnot the time is always hard to find. I'd love to do nothing but KZread. Perhaps someday.

@@BrockShake Family always should take priority. Can definitely understand that. 9, 10, and 12 year old that keep me busy. All gamers, but sadly they hate jrpgs.

I love JRPGs. They got me hooked before I was even ten years old. Been playing them for probably almost 30 years now.

My 1st jrpg was Dragon Warrior on nes. Don't know if I just didn't like the game, or it was the fact I had the flu when I played it, but I hated it. Got my hands on Final Fantasy on nes later though, and I was hooked. Probably my favorite type of game since then. Only 2d fighters and SotN style Castlevanias come close.

I played Dragon Warrior. Don't know if I got to beat it until years later. The original Final Fantasy is still a game I've not beaten to this day.

I really want to do it. I have so many ideas in the pipeline. I also want to rank the series like I did for Star Ocean. However, I need to make room to play all of the games so they can be fresh in my mind.

I'll be damned. I subscribed to you like 2 days ago. And now you just released a review of the game I'm currently playing. Amazing.... I'll wait until I finish playing it before I watch it through. Any plans for future PS1/PS2 RPGs reviews?

Definitely wait. I do discuss some things that would be considered spoilers. I hope to review some more PS1 games. PS2 is in the works, because I currently don't have a controller or a way to capture footage. This review was mostly done two months ago, but life kept me from getting it done. Thanks for the sub 😊

@@BrockShake I had a least favourite part: from the desert until the end. It really felt unpolished and I didn't really like the final dungeon and boss at all. I enjoyed the rest of the game. Some parts better than others. BTW, you can use a ps1 dualshock controller on the ps2. It works on many games.

BOF3 kicked Final Fantasy 7’s ass and put Square on notice even when Square was on top back in 98

I agree. I'm not knocking FF7, but BoF3 has definitely aged better. FF7 was ugly even for its time.

Great video. It's been a long time since I played through this game but I thoroughly enjoyed it and there's certainly nothing else quite like it. Great point on the dialogue. I feel like this game was released at the tail end of a golden era for Japanese to English video game translations. I get the feeling that back then the translators weren't very fluent in Japanese so they had to fill in a lot of the gaps, and did so with very American dialogue. Or, maybe they just had more freedom during the translation process. Whatever the reason, translations in modern JRPGs are generally quite terrible because they're translated word for word from the Japanese dialogue, which to me, doesn't translate well to other cultures.
