Typical 90s westernization of Japanese game arts. Plenty of games got that treatment, like Megaman (but not X), Suikoden, etc...

I do hope we get a breath of fire remake collection one day. They all tell great stories and have great mechanics bogged down only by antiquity and old "just buy a strategy guide" esc design decisions.

Thanks for this, this tune always gets me pumped up! That transition to what feels like a 6/8 and then crescendo right back into a rocking pedal riff....just so simple and short but bam, so exciting.

Breath of Fire II was great for its time, though it hasn't aged quite as well as Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger. And boy that translation. But in its favor: holy crap that soundtrack. And it paved the way for Breath of Fire III and IV next gen, which were absolute bangers.
