Jagger said he really liked Robin's version of "Out of time". He just turned 17 in the video. They were supporting their family way before '67. During their first TV appearance in 1960 they were @10 and 13 respectively. "Spicks and Specks" was #1 in NZ and #3 in Oz. During the split in 1969 Robin had a #2 hit (Saved by the bell) and Maurice and Barry had a #2 hit (Don't forget to remember). Sad that their overexposure during "disco" wiped out their post "disco" career. Their so called disco era was far superior to their contemporaries like KC and the Sunshine Band (5 minutes of "that's the way I like it, uh huh uh huh") and Donna Summers (10 minutes of "Love to love you baby"). They wrote for other acts in their 3rd career and ironically those songs were hits for them when they could't get airplay themselves. They did great stuff from 1980 onward and it was largely ignored. They had more than 2 careers, the 60's, 70's , then songwriting for others and their own revival in the late 80's. A nice summary. 👍

Didn't know about Jagger, thanks. When i first saw Robin's version I thought his growl into "Well baby baby" was fantastic. I wish I could have touched more on their writting. ( I try to keep the episodes less than 30 mins ) How did you find them? Any friends or family into them? Thanks

@@thebreakroom4658 - Just happened upon this one. Actually Lennon complimented the Gibbs (a rarity) and even gave Mo a guitar for his 20th birthday that he used until he died. Elton John did a cover of Robin's "August October) quite nicely but used his hand on his throat to get Robin's inimitable vibrato. A lot of their contemporaries and even their musical elders respected them. Cheers!

You did a good job with a brief rundown of their first stages of the Bee Gees phenominal career. I know that you have time limitations, so you covered the high-lights rather well. Their career was huge. They were incredibly talented and extremely prolific song writers. Their career spanned over 5 decades. It would take hours and hours to cover just how amazing they were. I enjoyed your presentation very much. Oh and don't feel too bad about mispronouncing Maurice's name. I read one time that people said it wrong so many times he finally stopped correcting people. Then I saw them being interviewed by a British guy who said his name the way that his parents, and everyone in Europe said it, pronounced as Morris. So he asked Mo "why do people call you Maurice"? (the same way that you said it) and Mo said to the guy "because that's my name!" Lol 😅 😂 I will forever love everything Bee Gees. 💕💕💕

Thanks Kathleen, I do wish I could cover everything with all of the performers I show. But we are in a world of short attention spans and if it's too long ( 30 mins + ) I will loose folks I fear. But hopefully viewers will watch and learn some about the many talented performers that were around many years ago. Thanks for watching.

I knew i fucked that up. I had a bandmate named Maurice but we called him "mo". He said people always said it wrong. I kinda felt that I didn't have a enough time to get really into all the stuff. Thanks

Don't forget they were signed first with festival ...and there's also another story from mo about how the record broke it was by the idiot in the projection booth who dropped it.. So they just went and sang the one song they knew Lollipop.❤..

Yeah about Festival...It's almost like I need to compress everything down to get it all under 30 mins. I've heard of at least three different stories about the record, and the numbers of songs performed. Thanks for checking us out & for watching.

I saw Barry in an interview where he said Maurice dropped it. Maurice himself said he dropped it in another interview. After that, in different interviews, Barry never specifically said who dropped it…almost acted like he didn’t remember. It seemed to me that Maurice followed his lead and never mentioned it.
