He only wants to be president to have the power to seek revenge on all the people he feels betrayed him. They are being incarcerated now but a few still hold office in the government. He is doing it now behind the scenes but will have access to punish many more if elected. He would also be able to get information on those serving on the jury. He never talks about governing or policy, just his enemies or perceived enemies. It's that dictator mindset. I wish we had the power to expel him from the country and exile him with no citizenship.

@@Violet316 Sorry, Violet. "Jail" and "prison" are not technical terms with official definitions that make them mutually exclusive. I just looked up "jail" in the 1969 printing of Merriam Webster's 7th New Collegiate Dictionary, and it gives, as the 1st definition of jail: "PRISON; especially: a building for the confinement of persons held in lawful custody." A prison is a jail, and a jail is a prison. Period. Distinguishing a county lock-up as a "jail" and identifying a federal or state institution as a "prison" is nothing but a colloquial usage that some people, in their ignorance of the English language, think is some kind of official distinction. It is not. In fact, it's a distinction that is most commonly part of the culture of people who are sentenced to incarceration and their friends and relatives. It's convict jargon, in other words- not the language of the general law-abiding public. The word "jail" is an ancient word in English, and its archaic form is "gaol." Of course we don't expect people like you to have read, or even heard of, the classic romantic poem, "The Ballad of Reading Gaol."

@Blasted2Oblivion

Here's the really cool thing about that. Even if there is a plant on the jury, that is just a hung jury. They do the trial again with a different jury. It is certainly not ideal but it is much more likely to get a jury WITHOUT a plant than it is to get a full jury of them.
As a trial lawyer myself, having carried out countless prosecutions, I can say that this analysis of the trial is fantastic. Thank you both for producing remarkably reliable podcast.

I still haven't heard the stunning news that was dropped on Trump
Fantastic news. A verdict is closer.
I was the foreman on a death penalty case. Jurors take the process seriously. Deliberations are extremely intense. Different points of view are not uncommon. Careful listening to each other is crucial to get to a consensus. I know my mind was changed over the course of deliberation. And a brilliant insight came from an unexpected juror. You have to leave any biases outside the jury room. You have a very diverse group of people in the jury. We were frustrated by the charge (1st), because we thought it should be 2nd. We had to help each other stay in the 1st degree context. It was hard, sober, teamwork. Respect the jury. They have an enormous responsibility, and I hope what they decide brings justice to us.
@minutemeditations14All
21 күн бұрын
I too have been on a jury. Twice. Medical malpractice in both. Oddly. And the jury is diverse no matter what the topic or where the venue. But we do take the process very seriously was the one thing we have in common. At one point I was the person who was about to hang the jury bc I wanted more information. We talked, I began to see that while everyone made mistakes, both sides, there were things at stake bigger than "who was to blame". Things like, decency. Honor and everyone making their best efforts to ensure justice for both parties. And we did.

Make Accountability Great Again!
Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
I can picture it now. Its all over, the jury comes out and one says out loud. "We the jury find the defendant guilty and recommend maximum prison sentence." Then his lawyers wake him up and give him the bad news, followed by the sound of him soiling his adult diapers.

@@michaelblankenau6598 The prosecutors recommend sentencing, within sentencing guidelines. The judge determines the sentence. (Who would the judge recommend sentencing to? Himself? Not his job to recommend.)

Practically all legal experts opine that the likelihood of Trump being sent to prison should he be found guilty ..is negligible ... 'First Offenders' are seldom sent to prison ... there's a slim chance though that if he's found guilty in another 2 criminal cases he'll fall foul of the ' Three strikes rule ' ... wishful musing ! Likeliest outcome ...Trump will outlast all of his trials and never spend a day in prison ..to the eternal detriment of US Justice and the much vaunted 'Rule of Law' ... Trump is the WORST personification of sociopathic narcissistic behaviour ever to befall a Presidency

On the day trump is convicted, it should be declared Michael Cohen Day! It took tremendous courage on his part to testify, endure the death threats to himself and family, lose his law license, go to prison, etc. If not for him, Stormy and all the other brave witnesses, trump might not ever be held accountable. Respect for Michael Cohen. GREAT JOB, AND THANK YOU.
