Gibson needs to GO!

The US Mint is a business and it's quite possible that new pricing has nothing to do with greed. Why? The US, in general, has proven to be HORRIBLE at fiscal responsibility. It is absolutely in the cards that their costs are very high (due to bad money management), which necessitates a higher sell price. Whatever the reason, $91 for an ounce of business strike silver is ridiculous.

It costs 30 dollars to get the materials, 30 dollars to pay the mint employees to mint it, warehouse it and ship the coin, so at the old price the mint was pulling in a 16 dollar profit per Morgan/Peace Unc dollars. Most physical production businesses work in the rule of thirds. 1/3 cost of materials, 1/3 to pay the people, and 1/3 profit. So since the costs are 30 30 the decided to take a 31 dollar profit with these new coins. To all those canceling this might become a key date if they decide to cease minting them or most likely a loss for those selling this series of coins this year.

Gotta pay for Bidenomics 😂😂.

The irony that $91 doesn't even keep up with their own inflation.

They added those expensive clam shell cases. They must recoup the cost of those. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Go woke, go broke! I cancelled a few years ago. The mint offerings have diminished in artistic quality over the years anyway. Let them eat cake!

Agreed. The leaders at the mint appeal to government worship and the politically correct crowd. WAY too many dead President coins and medals, wars, and even the women quarters have 5 categories each year.

I canceled last week. 20% increase silver has not gone up that much

Yeah they're a flop. I see the 2023 peace and Morgan's under mint issued price at my LCS and I won a 2023 Morgan in OGP for $59 and a 2023 MS69 Peace for $53 at auction. You pay the mint prices and 99% of the time you're under water forever.

You were spot on about the US Mint making the Morgan and Peace dollar 99.9 % silver as opposed to 90%. That has always been my beef with the US Mint. If you are going retro. GO RETRO!

The US Mint is price gouging even more than they have in the past. An average company would be investigated for these type of price increases. This is corruption at the government level and people should start seeing them for who they really are. There is no way anyone would ever make a profit by reselling these coins at these prices. This is it for me as I am no longer buying from them. These coins aren’t that special and eventually will be able to get them cheaper on the secondary market. They said the increase was because of the spot price of silver but they never reduce the prices of their products when spot prices go down so that is BS.

Speg--YOU ARE CORRECT, AS USUAL. I quit buying most everything from the US Mint after the ordering gaffs years ago. Especially did not buy the new Morgans and Peace Dollars. I wrote several letters to the old Mint Director at the time and also to the current director. As you say, they did not care for my suggestions, comments, or reality thoughts, as nothing has changed except piling on more of the same and charging even more. I for one, do not think that our coinage should be tainted with any current (or future) temporarily in-vogue, fly by night catering to political or social ideas that do not represent the heritage and beliefs of the majority of Americans. As an alternative, any commemoration of minority beliefs or causes might be better served being produced as collectible medals in a series, for those interested, not as circulating US coinage. Just saying.

Cancelled a couple of days ago. The mint was charging too much for under an ounce of silver.

Instantly canceled my subs. I was planning on giving as gifts. Now I'll probably just give eagles instead

Got the email. Then cancelled my order immediately. Have heard they want to stop the mint products all together. These little steps will give them the evidenace they need to do this. Feels like deeper meaning here. Theyre not this stupid. They assume we are.

This is an extra $4,125,000 dollars in their pockets. I haven't bought anything from the mint this year. Now, I'm not going to buy anything all year. I was going to buy the Morgan and Peace Dollars, but not now US MINT.

I agree 100% Speg !. Cancelled all my subscriptions 2 days ago. The mint is out of new ideas and way over priced and the quality of what they do produce is just not good enough, anymore !. The mint can lead a horse to water but they cannot make it drink it !.

But Speg, at around $52 over spot the silver 1 oz coins are a real bargain compared to the $800 - 900 over spot for gold 1 oz coins! Curious how pressing out gold adds so much more value than it does for silver.

Hard to like the U.S. Mint since they became Canadian Mint wannabes by gouging the public. Their silver and gold products should not be 2X or 3X spot prices. Twenty years ago they actually served coin collectors.

I believe the unc and proof eagles are going up also. I canceled my Peace dollar order also. The Unc. Peace Dollar on subscription was only $76.00 on the email I got from them. They want another $15.00 bucks for a coin that has a 275,000 mintage no way. If they raise the Silver Eagles they will be canceled also.

I canceled ALL my subscriptions Eagles, Morgan’s and Peace. I emailed them and basically said they have just caused a BudLite / Tractor Supply moment. Go Woke go Broke!

Imagine paying $91 for a new Morgan or Peace dollar and having it arrive loose having fallen out of its plastic holder and rolling around in the case. I saw pictures and video of that happening with the previous releases and I doubt the 2024 versions will be any different. I still plan on buying the Flowing hair medal (won't buy the gold) unless they ask an unreasonably stupid price for it. I guess we'll see. Thanks, Speg!

Can you really blame The Mint or is it greedy people thinking that in 20 or 30 years they will sell these same coins for much more money ? @Spegtacular that's cool and I don't disagree. The wording of the pledge I see as an attempt to put the flag above God. Especially in the minds of children as it was mandatory to say it every day in school. The same schools where prayer is not allowed. I have felt that way since I was in school 35 years ago. I love America, just not a put your hand over your heart and pledge to a flag or a country kind of love. I do respect anyone's right to disagree.
