Katy ISD has been building a lot more high schools which ends up watering down the talent in the area. Instead of all of the talent going to 1 or 2 schools in the district, talent is spread throughout and no one school is as dominant as in the past. The era of Katy dominance is slowly coming to an end. Cy-Fair is experiencing the same thing. Although this is a STELLAR win for the Bobcats, the true test will come in their next game against Northshore. Best of luck Bobcats, hope you take it!

It doesn't matter. Katy is an Open Enrollment school. A lot of their best players live outside of Katy. This means they will stay top 10 in Texas. Cy Fair just got approved for open enrollment this year so the transfers are already starting to payoff for them.

It's been a good run for nearly 26 years....but like Odessa Permian, I think that Katy run is coming to an end. They'll still have talent and be good. But the days of them obliterating teams start to finish may be over.

I think that can be attributed to the fact that their head coach Gary Joseph is now 65 and will likely hand the reins over to a worthy successor within his staff. As for Odessa Permian, I'm sure that they could recapture their former glory with the right coaches and player talent. If a high school team has won at least 1 state championship, then they can surely fucking do it again. The same goes for Midland Lee (fuck the new PC-inspired Legacy name bullshit).

Katy has enjoyed the perfect storm of place and circumstance for decades. Other than North Shore who is it that is able to knock off Katy in the playoffs down around Houston? Pearland or the Woodlands! How many times did Katy play them in the playoffs? A few times in 20 years maybe. In short, if you're Katy you get to play Houston Bellaire- Pasadena Memorial- Alief Elsik-Cinco Ranch-Deer Park in the playoffs. Or if youre in DFW, you get to play Southlake-Allen-Cedar Hill-Desoto-Duncanville-Trinity.
