Thanks for the tip. Much better option than completely shredding the side of the doorframe to get to a patient that's still verbally responding.

I am glad my Apartment has a Marks Mortis lock. The lock has a mechanism which allows you to choose if you want doors to lock automatically. The dead bolt is a second option.

My house got broken into a few years back and my back door was the point of entry but my door frame was not busted In anyway maybe a few tool or pry marks and my deadbolt was locked for sure. I wonder if this is how they did it.

Well some drill because they don't want to mar door by lock moving when you hammer it and drill above keyway to preserve most of the lock so a new cylinder can be put in ... See some of these videos have different audiences and a landlord doesn't want any more destruction than needed but may not be skilled enough to pick a lock...

I'd rather kick open the door then pound for 2 hours sicking locks man the lock is stronger then the door it self

Thanks! My neighbor will never know what hit him! JK.. I went shopping and when I got home I realized the house key had escaped the key ring. It took me a little longer than 30 seconds, but got through a Kwickset qick. Probably saved me a clean 100 for a locksmith.

Yes, Kwikset generally has a small lip on the back of their deadbolts to deter this form of attack.

I don't know why anyone would buy a deadbolt for an external door that doesn't have a shroud. I mean no matter what you can beat them with a drill and a screwdriver, but at the end of the day yeah, it's about noise.
