I have air martens and i absolutely love them. No breaking in issues. I don’t think i would buy the others I don’t have patience for my feet to be killing me just to break in boots. 🤷🏼‍♀️ it shouldn’t be that difficult lol. Kudos to you ❤ for doing that.

You're a lifesaver! I have the velvet docs and I'm not sure what to do on the outside to make them more flexible. I've tried the thick socks and the flexing. I will definitely try some of your other tips though. (:

Great video. I bought my first pair and my number one tip would be lace them up tight enough so that your foot doesn't move around. Make sure the tongue is pushed back against your foot when lacing. Move around as much as you can around the house, walking up and down stairs, squats, lunges, give them a workout! Thick socks are a must. I'd love to see a video of different outfits you wear with them.

I recommend to buy 1460 Black Nappa. So easy to break in, also leather is kinda soft, really good quality. No break in problems at all for me.

Same for me! No break in time in my case and the quality is as good as it gets.

those the virginia or ambassador leather which is actually easier to break in as its a much softer leather

Hi Cath, this was so helpful. I'm planning on buying my first pair of Dr Martens this weekend! I went into the Westfield store earlier this month to have a look and talk about breaking them in. The lovely sales associate there told me that she breaks hers in by using a hairdryer on them on a low heat setting, particularly the heal area for about 5 mins each day. She said the low heat causes the leather to soften very quickly.

Hello! I want to buy 1461 virginia leather and i am here for an advice. Does virginia leather actually "breathe"? Does your feet get wet or smth like that?

My 1460s were hell on Earth to break in (did it without balm or stretching/bending, purely just wearing them. Bled so much! So far I've found the 1461s way easier to break in, definitely still wear plasters and thick socks but about 3 wears in they're happy. For me the best 'cheat' is wearing them around the house/office. Not tons of walking but lots of flexing and stepping.

haha none!! Once you break in one pair you don't have to do it again, that is if you go for the Pascal's they are much softer x

Overall good advice. Boots need to be broken in they are not sport shoes. I would say wear boot socks wool is best . Taping your feet is a good idea...but be careful to watch your feet for infection . There are many good treatments for the leather but I guess the lady thing is shinny so use shoe polish. Lincoln polish is Great but I don't know if you can get it in the UK. I would suggest rotating you shoes every day to let them air out. You can use trees but you don't really need them for combat boots. Don't dry wet boots with high heat. Really wet ..shove in newspaper. Just remember it takes a few weeks to break them in . There is no fast way to do it .

Thats the right tip, wear them around the house for the first few weeks. You can use a blow drier to heat and soften them up.

I mean I can wear a sanitary pad!!! That’s how I brake heels or if I can’t walk a lot in some very high heels I wear a pad and stick it on the heel sole

Should doc martens fit quite tight when u first get them because I’ve received some which don’t feel that tight and I’m wondering if I should get a smaller size. I heard that they expand when u wear them and break them in so is that why they are meant to be tight at the beginning! Please help! Xx

Maddy Damant hi! I’m my experience they are a little tight at first, they definitely loosen with wear, not massively but if they’re not snug now they’ll be very loose after a couple of weeks. I stayed true to size with all 4 pairs of my Docs. Hope this helps x

Do the pascals stretch a lot after you break them in? I have a pair atm that are a size down from my normal size (I’m a us 7 and got a us 6) and I’ve found that they are very very tight on me and I’m worried they won’t stretch much.

@@HelloHello-ex2kc yeah they’ll loosen up, bend them with your hands, 5 mins a day and they’ll soon loosen up. Black ones are the worst for that, my white ones took no breaking in at all. Think the lighter leather is less tough 🤔

I’m confused. I thought the pascal leather doesn’t need breaking in. I got the 1460 smooth and this one totally needs breaking in. Anyways, mine is almost broken in to the point where I can walk in them for more than a few hours. Next pair I’m getting will be the pascal for the matte look 😊.

I'm stupid and I wore them at home and then straight to a long walk and a night out, I thought my feet were necrotic. Now I am loosening them up with leather oil

I have the same in white, but they are in a soft leather. For me there was no braking in necessary. If not I would not have bought it 😉. But I made a very hurtful experience with the smooth leather that I wore immediately to go out 🥴

Madisyn Valentina Yeah, ive managed to break in them quite a bit. My left foot is just fine, no rubbing, nothing. Meanwhile on my other foot, I have constant rubbing and is quite painful. I’ve actually put a sock inside the shoe and that kinda helps. I’ve also taken a blow dryer to the shoes and that also helped.

I dont understand those are the soft leather type

Yours are pascal. The type that are already worn. That’s why you broke them in soo quickly

DM Pascal in virginia leather don't really need breaking in. They're soft leather. It's the 1460 original, Made in England, Jadons, Bex etc that need breaking in as they're made of tougher leather.
