    Greg is such a class act outside of his youtube persona! Being 6'6 and 300LBS myself, i understand that Mitchell has a good point about the range of motion needed for us taller guys, i say that to myself as well however, you also must take into consideration how much more mass you can put on compared to someone like Greg, therefore it evens out. That deadlift record is absolutely insane especially at Gregs weight. Mitchell did a really good job and i'm so happy seeing a "Not so monstrous" strongman beat the competition after people liek Brian Shaw have dominated it for a long time.

    enjoyed the vid but just wanted to note you may want a bit more external rotation in the hips in your sumo technique mitch. with this specific technique, external rotation just puts you in a more favorable position to generate power. think more about ur hip adductors doing work there. a lot of people new to sumo make the mistake to just have a wide stance but just standing wide doesn't really change the mechanics of the lift that much. but yeah, i personally struggle a bit with the sumo stance because i have fairly weak hip adductors & a little hip injury to boot.

According to a study in the journal medicine and Science in sport and exercise, sumo deadlifts are more effective at activating the vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, and tibialis anterior muscles. Yeap Greg is legit all-rounder. Looks amazing was strong as a motherfucker . Did the right thing and went full blown influencer mode after he got hes channel running with lots of good info. Not subbed anymore but to this date i as a PT still look at hes older video's for some good information when it comes to PEDS and nutrition.

    Yes. It also depends on the equipment. The softer the bar and the more supportive equipment you use, the easier sumo will be. That's bc (generally) people are weakest off the floor with sumo and that's where all these things help. But yeah, other than that it's about leverages. Possibly a wee bit about strengths and weaknesses, too.

    I never understood why people hate sumo deads. Once I started seeing it as a variation it just seemed to make sense. There’s context for it. The closest comparison is wide powerlifting squats to bodybuilding squats.

    Amazing how strong Greg was with such a small frame. You are a behemoth next to him. And your reps looked more like straight leg deadlifts with a wide stance than sumo deadlifts, which surely must be much more difficult than nailing the sumo technique. If you trained anything I think you would be best at it. Your are like Mr. Perfect from the old WWF, except you are real.

    Its almost like the sumo stance at your height makes it a cramped area. Im also 6"3" and been considering sumo. Did you feel like it was your height or overall size that made the coordination different than conventional?

  • @chemstreescreations
    @chemstreescreations10 ай бұрын

    Sumo is more for people with longer legs than torso. You don't have to use your back as much and you can squat down and drive with your legs more. Normally shorter smaller people lift sumo and taller larger people prefer conventional. Just what I've noticed.
