    I think the timeline number thing is shorthand for Loki's branch numbers. Presumably this is all within the Loki tree, so the numbers would be "Earth 616, Timeline 724" etc

    Don't know if this was an intentional reference or just happened by complete accident, but I find it neat that the Wanda in this game is basically just wearing Wiccan's costume, her son Billy's adult superhero persona. The black body suit, yellow accents on the sides, vibrant red cape, even down to the hairstyle and the white head-piece, are all lifted from his look. But at the same it isn't that drastic of a color swap/re-design from her Wandavision super-suit so it wouldn't be impossible that it's simply just a coincidence.

    With the whole multiverse and different timelines concepts, I always assume that everything Marvel produces is canon until explicitly told otherwise. Then the question becomes “does it affect other timelines that we’re actively following?”

    Well said! Granted, the game makes it seem to me like this is happening to the main MCU tree (i.e. Loki's tree), especially in that final boss battle. But I agree, if this is happening in a different universe, then it doesn't matter as much. Basically, everything can be canon to the larger multiverse. Thanks for the excellent feedback on the vid!

    From the moment they say "There's a spell that lets you wield all the infinity stones, basically without consequences, didn't you know?" this automatically becomes non-canon because if this spell has always been around, there's no fricking way neither Strange or Wong or the Ancient One, or any of the sorcerers in the final battle in Endgame wouldn't have known about it and brought it up to Tony/Bruce the SECOND they learned of what Thanos wanted to do. Also, there's no way that 616 movie Thanos himself wouldn't have known about this considering how it was literally his life's goal since he was young and saw his planet die, to have all the stones and do the snap. Even if we take this Wong's word and accept that "learning to do magic and handle all six stones would take decades", Thanos would ABSOLUTELY still spend any amount of time necessary to accomplish his goal, because he literally took decades going around halfing the populations of planets by himself anyway. I cannot believe that learning magic, which, may I remind everyone, that magic is a thing literally anyone can learn to do in the MCU, in relatively a short amount of time, even with disabilities (it took Strange, a HUMAN MAN, at most, a year to become proficient in magic, even with screwed-up hands) and that doing magic is a thing you can sometimes even accomplish by accident (see Ned in NWH), wouldn't be a more viable and immediate road in Thanos' eyes to complete his mission, instead of him doing what he actually did, which was: Go around culling planets (a thing that absolutely would've been faster to do if he had even basic magic, and that he was doing one planet at a time in the first place only BECAUSE he did not have the stones), and in-between doing that, nabbing random kids, taking time to train them, and sitting in his floaty chair sending said children and other random goons to actually go and get him the things he wanted, and THEN, going to a space forge few knew existed to kill everyone there to force one guy to make a magic glove for him because he got tired of waiting around doing nothing. Also it doesn't take decades to learn, Wong, because you literally say "ok let me actually stop being sarcastic and teach you in 5 minutes how to do it", and then he does it and that's it. Meaning that if we, normal human people from our non-magical-ass earth can do this spell, Thanos would've cracked how to do it the second he skimmed the instructions for it off of whatever book they give you when you become Sorcerer Supreme. (Also, this is A Wong, from SOMEWHERE, but he can't be THE Wong from the MCU main timeline because if it is and he's casually just friends with the Watcher now, that also opens a bunch of different plotholes, so this is clearly just a random Wong the Watcher knows from one of the infinite branched animated timelines he oversees, of which some are included and are episodes of the What If show. The Watcher actually revealed to not actually be the Watcher here doesn't invalidate this complaint, btw, because the mere fact this story begins with them already clearly aware of each other, who they are and what they do, implies a prior connection, so, again, can´t be the 616 Wong). So no. This "hand of Agamotto" spell would break everything; this is just a fun, non-canon, Marvel multimedia thing that needed an easy-to-follow plot and that will promptly never, ever be mentioned again, except for MAYBE a passing easter egg shoutout in the next season of What If (and considering What If Season 3's rocky production, the fact that many characters that showed up in this game, such as Red Guardian, only do appear because Marvel animation already had 3D models of them made for their debut in S2 of the show, making it easy for the people behind this game to just re-use/re-skin them for it; but then, the episodes of the show these characters were supposed to show up in first, because of said rocky production, ended up being pushed back to S3, making them debut in animated form here first by accident. Add to this the fact it's already basically confirmed that S3 is to be the last season of that show, I don't think they'll even acknowledge this game there, either)

    Well said...I agree 100%. Also, the fact that Wong has a spell to jump into and out of Soul World seems crazy to me. And then that final boss battle is somehow outside the Multiversal Tree and Wong cast a spell that took them outside the tree and now they can all breathe in outer space (or whatever the space is between trees)? No way it's canon. I think it's a fun game with a clever story, but was never meant to be canon to the MCU.

    I also hadn't realized that Wanda was literally outside of the Loki Multiverse tree at the end there. Definitely makes the setting a lot cooler to think that our Loki is just right there in the center just watching it all happen lol. I also hadn't put into perspective how the tree we see is just the main MCU plus ALL of it's branch timelines as opposed to other universes like the Fox-Verse(s), Sony-Verse(s) etc

    Right! My understanding of the multiversal model is that there are multiple "trees" and that 616 and its branched universes form one tree, but 838, Tobey, Andrew, Fox, paint, etc are all different trees. It makes alot of sense when you consider that America was the only one that could jump over to 838...so it must be a separate tree for that reason. Very cool stuff!

    I'm so glad that you made this video! I have no Apple Vision Pro, so I couldn't play this, but I don't mind spoilers. The story seems very cool as well, I hope they eventually release it on other platforms as well. As for the game itself, of course I haven't played it, so I have to go off of what you said in the video, but I also agree that it's not canon. Or at least not to the main 616 universe, because of the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer. While I was watching the video I thought that maybe it could have been canon to the 616 universe, but it's just set in the very distant past, maybe in some weird branch far away from the root timeline (that would explain, for example, why there are no branches on the TVA monitor that Miss Minutes shows you: the universe could be in its infancy, just after HWR isolated it from the Multiversal War going on in the larger megaverse, before it started branching out). But then you mentioned the trailer, so that seals it for me: it can't be the main 616 universe. It COULD be canon to the Deadpool and Wolverine universe, though. In that case, I don't think it's weird that Miss Minutes shows you a trailer for the new movie: she's just recruited you in their version of the TVA and she's telling you what your next mission will be about. So, if the game is canon to that universe, then you either destroy the stones and get recruited in their version of the heroes of the multiverse alongside of Captain Carter, or you return the stones and get recruited in their version of the TVA (and in this case it would be cool to have an easter egg to this in the new movie!). But personally, I hope it's not canon because, as I already said multiple times in past comments, I don't like the idea of there being multiple TVAs. There is only one TVA, and it's the one from the Loki show. It would make no sense to me to have other, completely separate multiverses (or "trees", as you call them), each with their own TVA. I still have my judgment suspended about the TVA shown in the new Deadpool movie, and I hope that they're just going to confirm that it's the same one as Loki. And if not, they better have a REALLY good explanation for why it's not. So I guess we'll see, but for now, my claim is that no, this game is not canon. Definitely not to the 616 universe.

    Great comment as always. Yeah, it's very hard to find a way to make this canon. I do like the overall story and the game looks like a ton of fun to play, but I just don't think Marvel intended this to be canon. It's just a fun game for Marvel fans to dig abit deeper into the infinite possibilities of the multiverse!

  • @sirdrake1857
    @sirdrake1857Ай бұрын

    Good video! What weighs in for it being non-canon is that most of the cutscene feature different VAs than whenever we do the immersive gameplay. For instance, that is not Jeffrey Wright voicing the Watcher whenever he speaks to us, but whenever he introduces us to a new universe, it sounds like it's him. Same with Josh Brolin voicing Thanos in cutscenes, but you can clearly hear it when he says "the hardest choices require the strongest wills" at the end, that is not Josh Brolin To me, all of this implies that the game was made using scenes from the upcoming third season of What If, and (kind of sloppily) put together to make the game's story. It's why the timelines are numbered kind of randomly, it's why our character can just manipulate infinity stones from other universes and destroy them even though it's supposed to be a bad thing etc I hope I'm wrong because then that would mean Marvel kind of spoiled 4 of their episodes' plots, but that seems to be what's happening to me

  • @AbitofEverything4U

    @AbitofEverything4U

    26:51-These 2 endings remind me a LOT about how the game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance ends; throughout the game, there are several different side quests and objectives and at the end of the game, The Watcher goes over all of them and the good AND bad consequences of each choice/decision

    I don’t really care if Marvel eventually tells us that this isn’t canon, Hela just wanting her puppy is too adorable to be non-canon. Also, there’s the whole thing of “If there’s infinite universes, then sometimes there could be repeats of timelines”, so maybe both endings are canon, but they’re just far enough removed from what we see in the MCU and each other that it doesn’t really matter, because they just won’t ever interact with each other.

    I dont see how the timeline numbers are confusing. I really like it, in fact. I was wanting something like that to be done so we can make clear both which Universe (like 838) and Timeline we are seeing at any given moment of a movie or show. Universe: 838 Timeline: (fill in number here) And it shows Superior Iron Man looking to get revenge for the deaths of the Illuminati. Loki Season 2 started by telling us whether characters visited a branch or the Sacred Timeline, but rules and consisitency need tofully blossom from teases to on-screen guides/tools. Maybe the specific numbers used in the game are arbitrary, but we still need reference points in the actual canon. I believe they have given us enough to figure out (with Loki, Multiverse of Madness, and What If) that, like you said, the Tree is one of many. In fact, Beau Demayo, director for X-Men '97, was told to view that universe as a neighboring tree, and he says "[I'm] Sure a few leaves from one tree can mingle with another at some point." So you're on the right track. There is more than one tree. We will have confirmation at some point, I can feel it.

  • @AbitofEverything4U

    @AbitofEverything4U

    Ай бұрын

    Good points about the numbering. I do like it. I just wish we knew who (from an in-universe standpoint) was doing the numbering. Was it the Watcher, Wong, Scarlet Witch, etc. I would suspect it could be the Watcher, as I don't know that Wong or Scarlet Witch would be interested in numbering the individual timelines. And since no one in the game referenced the numbering, it makes me wonder if the in-universe characters were oblivious to the numbering and only we as the player saw it. Hope that makes sense. I just love digging into the lore of the MCU and in this case, I really want to know the purpose of the numbering and who was doing it. Anyway, great feedback as always!

    Regarding the TVA and Deadpool, I think this being an ad for D&W says alot about certain things. The people making this game had to have been handed at least a basic synopsis of the most important things the movie includes so that they could write that Miss Minutes ending. Meaning that Wade working for Agent Paradox and the TVA, as well as the TVA still pruning PEOPLE, but not timelines, must be an important fundational part of the story if they were comfortable to just include it here. The Lamentis thing is most likely just asset recycling. The people making this game probably got handed 3D models of TVA stuff that was already from the Loki show itself, and the Lamentis text is there on the monitor because they most likely didn't bother to change it when they imported/exported the model to plop it into the game. However, Miss Minutes being present at all, and the mention of pruning (not to mention that we've already seen the TVA in the Deadpool and Wolverine trailers still using the prune sticks) tells me that what we last saw of the TVA in Loki season 2 is not going to match exactly with how they're portrayed in D&W. Maybe because of deliberate story reasons, but to me what seems more likely is that its due to these latest MCU movies being made when the prior projects they're supposed to connect to aren't yet completed, story-wise, resulting in the people making them not knowing what was happening in the prior installment when they're filming the follow up, (see the inconsistencies with Wandavision and MoM, or Secret Invasion and The Marvels as the clearest examples of this), which would explain why the more we hear about the TVA in this new movie, the more it sounds like it functions like the TVA from Loki Season 1, pre-He Who Remains reveal. Because when the script for Deadpool 3 was being written, the only thing fully out that featured the TVA was the first season. This maybe is a bit conspiranoic of me, but that would also explain why, in the early days of rumors for Deadpool 3, the thing that was always commonly reported as fact was that Owen Wilson would reprise his role as Mobius in the movie, in a major way. Only when Season 2 of Loki was about to come out, were the Owen Wilson reports dropped almost completely, and Matthew Mcfadyen was said to be Paradox, fulfilling the same role Wilson would have as Mobius in the movie. Its almost like when the original script for Deadpool 3 was written, it had Mobius in it, and ONLY when they realized how Loki Season 2 was going to end, with Mobius retiring out of the TVA, was when they changed it last minute, switching Mobius' character into Paradox's.

Just take the plot of Multiverse of Madness into account . Think about the rules established in that film alone. They made it clear only America Chavez can traverse the multiverse without risking incursions. That’s why Wanda wanted to kidnap her . We see Wanda(and Doctor Strange using magic to traverse TIMELINES in WhatIf and in the game. Even this is used to show us the difference between timeline hopping and tree hopping. I had never even heard of this until you covered it. Interesting plot and mechanics, wish I had a vision pro (other than the cost lol). Have an idea for a video though not sure if it's a good one: have you examined the different MCU characters (specifically heroes) with children and what you think their roles will be in the future? Think a video could be made about all we know about Cassie Lang, Morgan Stark, etc. Guess you could even stretch as far as Odin -> Thor/Loki, etc but I more mean actual CHILDREN/teens that will be future key players. might be worth thinking about especially considering young Avengers/ vision quest is nearly upon us.

    Yeah, I wish I had the funds for the game as well. Looks fun, but my word that Vision Pro is expensive! And your suggestion of the children's role in the future of the MCU is pretty cool. Will be interesting to see how many of them become Young Avengers down the road. Wanda's kids Billy and Tommy (assuming we see them again) and Cassie will likely join. I suspect Love won't join (she's sorta Thor's kid, ig) and we likely won't see Heimdall's kid again after L&T. But yeah, that's a good suggestion!

    Great breakdown btw! For me when it comes to understanding the differences in branch timelines from other universes I see it as this which is similar to how the Marvel Wiki (a pretty trustworthy source imo) views it: Everything is canon, it just depends what it is canon to. So the game itself is canon but maybe just not canon to the MCU per se similar to how X-Men 97' isn't technically canon to the MCU (as in the singular universe) and I actually really appreciated that the writers/developers took the time to make new reality/earth/timeline numbers for the stories that we do visit. For me that's been something sorely missing from the actual What If...? series

  • @AbitofEverything4U

    @AbitofEverything4U

    Ай бұрын

    Well said! I agree, this could be canon somewhere across the multiverse. It's harder for me to imagine it's canon to the main MCU, due to some of the plotlines such as Miss Minutes talking with the Watcher. But yeah, perhaps a different universe would work well for the story. And I agree, I do like the numbering of the timelines / universes. I see why the Watcher isn't doing it, since there are an infinite number of them that he's observing, but since we are only seeing a handful of them ourselves, it would be nice to have a way to refer to the ones we see. Good point! So, my initial question was whether this was canon to the main MCU (i.e. Loki's tree). The Miss Minutes scene, imo, makes no sense in the context of the main MCU, so I think it isn't tied to 616. But honestly, even if it's part of the greater multiverse, I can't imagine that Wong is able to cast a spell to transport everyone outside of the multiverse for that final boss battle. We've never seen that anyone except the watcher (a 5th dimensional being) is able to reside outside the multiverse like that. And the battle is out in space, but everyone can breathe? It's just a weird scene, even if the battle itself is cool. So my gut feeling is that it isn't meant to be canon at all, but ig with the multiverse, anything's possible. Anyway, great feedback as always!

What if those aren’t x-men but other wolverines? His death and perhaps even the death of Mutants in the FOX universe can only be delayed. The timeline numbering is very odd ... maybe it's just a vague thing or it's using the TVA's numbering but excluding the 616 part because they seen that as a given? I dunno. Very cool to see a younger Hela, I like that. It's interesting how Wanda's design is nothing like the MCU but Vision ... looks almost identical to the MCU. Also ... shattering her power across the multiverse ... sounds like a Nexus being if you ask me. Maybe. Although Miss Minutes timeline doesn't display as 616, so I wonder if it's not canon? Or if it's canon it's not the 616 tree potentially ... especially with that Deadpool part ... yeesh. But is the game canon ... no. Wouldn't destroying the stones mean that all 6 timeline we gathered those stones from die based on what we learn in Endgame. Also there is no way this can be canon due to Miss Minutes. By Miss Minutes own logic, every timeline in the Tree should be pruned including all the once we visited in the game. Unless whomever made this game didn't know the difference between Branch Timelines and Universes like 838. Though if we want to play devils advocate, who ever said this was the 616 tree. This could be a completely different Universe with a different TVA. Could even be Earth 838 or something. Oh or maybe each person who plays this game has there own tree. But in all likelihood it's not canon. If you have to do that much speculation to make it canon, then it's likely not canon.

    Yeah, destroying the stones at first seems like it could be an issue. But as long as they were just reduced to ashes (similar to what Thanos did in Infinity War) ig it might be okay. And I agree, none of the Miss Minutes stuff makes sense. I would be okay, however, if this was a totally different tree in the multiverse. The game could indeed work out okay in that case. Thanks so much for the great feedback on the vid. Really appreciate it!

    I was about to say the following question is unrelated to the topic of the video, but seeing how this game was actually just a covert ad for Deadpool 3, I guess it isn't completely unrelated after all: This channel has always been family friendly, and you often soften or omit saying curse words, even if they're directly from dialogue of the movie/show you're covering, but with Deadpool and Wolverine being the first R-Rated Marvel Studios film, can we expect your review for it to also be the first R-Rated "A bit of Everything" video? I think it would be fitting (and frankly very funny to hear you actually curse). Or at least give us one "F*ck" in that Deadpool & Wolverine review. Just once, like Colossus in Deadpool 2. We know you can do it.

    What If is giving me Infinity Stone fatigue. It's was fine in S1. But then S2 brought them back again with all the other Universe enders. And then we get this game which not only makes it look so easy for a timeline hopper to collect all six but they keep getting more powerful. At this point I don't understand how Thanos lost in Endgame / Infinity War. Not to mention Infinity Ultron or anyone else with all six. Also how does the Mind Stone die? Like that's a thing now? Even if Vision survived in Infinity War the Mind Stone will just die one day. Is that what happened to Earth 838 Vision or is this only a 616 Mind Stone thing? So many questions.

    In regards to the timelines/universes (still hate that What If...? calls them universes, but now this game uses BOTH?!) being numbered, it might be similar to the TVA designations. Every branch was labeled as 616 dot something. So maybe these timeline numbers are what would come AFTER the dot. I'm not sure exactly why different timelines or branches hsve specific designstions, or more specifically what gives them those designstions, but that's my guess. Maybe it's just the order in which these branches branched off of the Sacred Timeline. Edit: Absolute points remain the same in ALL timelines? That's... interesting. I haven't seen X-Men 97 yet, but that seems contradictory to what What If...? established. Unless it's literally in a different universe similar to 838, and is completely disconnected from 616. Don't know why different universes would hsve different rules for the same concepts, though.

  • @AbitofEverything4U

    Fantastic feedback. Yeah, I really don't like that What If calls them universe and Loki calls them timelines, but yeah, this game one-upped them and uses both! Sigh. And to your second point, I was also abit surprised about the absolute points being across all universes/timelines. To me, an absolute point is something you can't reset in your own timeline (like Christine's death or Vision's death) while a canon event is something that must occur in all timelines (like Genosha in X-Men 97 or the Spider canon events). I don't know if I can say that the game is Canon or not, but I think that if it is Canon, the good ending is the one that happens because of all the jokey material that occurs after the bad ending. Marvel isn't above jokes, but because of how erroneous and the type of humor taking place, at the very least, the bad ending would be the non-canonical version. I wouldn't discount the price threshold excluding it from canon either as Star Wars did have the Vader Immortal thing, too in which you aren't plucked from your couch, but you do play as a random nobody that is working for the Rebels. Similar thing also happened with the VOID where you were in a space with virtual reality goggles and a whole backpack and gloves and things to use all of your senses, and you could actually walk around in and infiltrate Vader's castle on Mustafar, pushing actual buttons and pulling levers and whatnot. I'm not sure how Canon that story is, but I wouldn't discount it either. The big thing though is that it's not likely to impact anything else going forward, so being Canon or not is kind of irrelevant. Because this is so niche and made for a market that the vast majority of MCU fans can't engage in, nothing will likely come from this. If we follow Star Wars' tier structure, it's Movies, Shows, Books, Comics, Games, Reference Material. Canon can be overwritten by something on a higher tier, and engaging in lower tier material can make for a more full experience in a higher tier, but a high tier is less likely to be affected by a lower tier. The MCU does seem to have Movies and Shows a bit more on an even playing filed, but even Marvel Studios is starting to split things up so that fans can be more selective in what stories they engage in. Even stuff like the Netflix series, while recently being made Canon to the sacred timeline, they're still primarily self contained, and it's hard to say when they'll have any elements begin to be referenced in the movies sans Matt Murdock, who was added to Spider-Man before the recanonization event, so it really only counts retroactively. Same thing with Kingpin in Hawkeye and eventually Echo, who have still only been in shows up to this point. So I guess it's technically Canon in some form or fashion, either to Marvel Cinematic ventures as a whole (meaning everything ever) or even to the Sacred Timeline from Loki, but I'm dubious it will really matter or be referenced, so it might as well not even be Canon. For my headcanon, I'm certainly not going to be concerned with it.

    @@AbitofEverything4U Honestly wouldn't know. I just remember what Star Wars Explained shared of it, and it's partly why Mustafar looks the way it does in The Rise of Skywalker, which on the one hand is cool in terms of continuity, but also, it looks like Mustafar from space, and then not at all on the surface, not making it clear what was going on in the movie, so do I blame Vader Immortal for making Mustafar not look like Mustafar anymore, or do I blame all the folks on Episode IX under a rushed schedule making odd decisions? I guess I really blame Disney for the second half, but then I'd rather just end the Sequels in 2019 than have all this buildup for a clunker halfway through Big Time Coroni in 2021 because there was no fixing that movie.
