Hooker arguably had the prettiest deep ball of any QB last year. At the end of the day, you still have to be able to throw the ball

@@ernieh3860good luck posting a link on KZread anymore without it being deleted. But anyways, we forget that game because it had more to do with internal team issues than Rattler playing great. The pass coverage was absolutely pathetic. WRs were wide open every single play and Rattler hit the wide open guys. But for the majority of the year he was inconsistent, so Vol fans look at that as a "we blew it" moment, not a "South Carolina whipped us" moment

@@ernieh3860 I'm just telling you what pretty much every Vols fan thinks of that game. There was a team fight before the game between Hooker and Jeremy Banks the leader of the defense. Banks got suspended but not Hooker so alot of the defense was upset and they just straight up didn't show up. WRs were running untouched every play and SC scored TDs on the first 5 possessions. And on top of that Hooker tore his ACL. So yeah, it was definitely a beat down, but one where afterwards there's a feeling of "we blew it". Unlike the Georgia game which was a feeling of "yeah we're not on their level yet". So we'll see how this year goes, you guys come to Knoxville this time, should be a good one

Exactly 👏👏 been saying this for forever. I don’t understand how Ohio state or Lincoln Riley don’t face that slander. I understand it with Leaches system bc it is easy to pump out stats when you throw it twice as much, but Tennessee runs the ball as much or more than most teams in the country.

My favorite part of the offense is when people complain that WRs are only open because a mis-match. Isn’t that the whole fucking point? To find mis-matches and exploit defenses to score points and win games? Or am I wrong here?

No I’m saying if you have elite talent it’s beneficial to just run your offense at a normal pace bc you are going to man up and beat the man in front of you most of the time.. plus you don’t have to ware your defense out before the second half. Tenn just doesn’t have the dudes to compete straight up with big time programs so they have to incorporate gimmicks. Don’t blame them just stating facts. Don’t see them beating great teams consistently with that style

@Classic City Dawg actually if you have elite talent across the board it would still be beneficial because you have more depth to rotate in without drop-off. You can call it a gimmick but on average it's been Top 5 offense in CFB since 2017. Gimmicks don't continue to work.

@@SalazarFrailey I’d only say Tennessee is really good right now as a UT fan myself. Great teams don’t give up 60+ points to a mediocre South Carolina team and don’t consistently shoot themselves in the foot against Georgia. Was UT’s record great in comparison to the last 15 years? Yes but it’s still a bit away from great. If the defense gets even 20% better, and the offense continues it’s production, then I’d consider UT Great.

I guess what confuses me is when did it become a problem for OCs to give their QBs an advantage with scheme? I thought thats what good OCs did?? And if the NFL isnt doing that, why are they making the game harder for their QBs? Also also, something that isnt QB friendly is having all 4 wideouts run choice routes every single play based on coverage! This makes it 10x harder to be on the same page with the WR and you dont know what route will be ran till the WR runs it.

Let's be honest, anyone who calls it a gimmick is jealous. Georgia fans are scared of it because they know it's something that can't be beaten after a few stacked recruiting classes. Keep this in mind, TN nearly went all the way with a fractured, still healing group of underdogs. Imagine this system with mostly 4 and 5 stars. It would be brutal!

I can't stress this enough - Coach Heupel's offense is WIN FRIENDLY not only QB friendly. People who talk out of their *$$ and don't know what they're talking about say things like this. Every point this guy makes in here is right on but he's missing the premise that offenses WIN when they play like this. It's not only about helping your QB. It's about winning. Now, when you play Georgia and they put 8 in the box, rush 5 every play, stop the run and play man cvg like white on rice at the corner position, you lose. Kirby knows exactly how to beat this offense. I just hope we outplay them in November this year haha GO VOLS

Call time out? Just fall down. Other teams run 30 seconds off play clock sub motion look to sideline and finally come up with matchup they want.Tennessee QB or coach does that in about 7 seconds. Not discounting fast play and keeping D players on field longer than they want.
