Carlos Beltran has an amazingly fast bat, this video helped me out so much, I learned a lot from it Jermaine, I noticed after you said it, Carlos Beltran likes to watch his top hand at contact, also I was dying when you said Barry’s bp is like finding Bigfoot😂

What strikes me is that BONDS was very like a lot of the old school 20’s -50’s hitters like Ruth , Williams, etc… with his HANDS . What I notice is that there is a slight drop of the hands then the swing explodes! I don’t see hitters doing this anymore at all. Frank Robinson and Henry AARON used to do that too ,the kind of slight drop of the hands to “cock” the swing. It seems they rely on hands and wrists no complicated movements. Gary Sheffield for sure , same thing…thanks.

Thank you for the video! Im able to hit pretty well in practice, yesterday I almost hit my first home run in practice. I just can’t seem to hit in games though, I have a game today and im gonna use what you said and see how I improve.

do other sports (racquet sports) help or hinder baseball swing development? i ask because as a kid i was not a strong hitter but after several years of playing racquetball my swing got much smoother and i could hit baseballs much better.

Yes, of course! I wish I had played other sports when I was younger. I believe it would have helped me be more athletic.

Can you talk about Shohei? He generates SO much power on such an awkward looking swing, he hits it harder than 6'7" guys and has more finnese.

Can you not see the bat traveling back/down on its way to the ball? The bat head is not being pushed straight to the ball.

I have commented a number of times and Barry bonds was big on the top hand getting it going and throwing the bat head through there ok look at a guy called Steve Pratt golf who was schooled by Mike Austin who talked about hand action and said many things Barry bonds did Mike Austin was one of the pioneers in kinetics

Ok I wasn't trying to be funny about the Gary scheffield thing smoking a cigar while taking batting practice but let's make some comparisons here I am sure you know I saw your thing on babe Ruth and Ruth's move across the shoulder so very similar to so many great hitters Barry bonds of course did a great job of that and of course he was a top hand guy George Brett was a front pull guy but he had that same rope pull over the shoulder move as Barry ok Charley sifford had the cigar in his mouth and his theory was swing under the cigar also before him Ben Hogan had a cigarette in a holder and swing under that I am feeling that top hand to the ball under the cigar or whatever gets you in a good position and gives you that drag the rope over your shoulder I am anxious to try this out on my pitching machine soon just been a little sick ok so you have your lower half working in there also back leg drive as you will see in an athletic swing but some guys are upper body guys only it seems or at least Lowe r body is not as active as a Mickey mantle from right side particularly but I really have always felt that you should think of the swing as working off what is happening through hitting zone back wards and forwards you work off that moment of truth but you have to be in a position to really execute that moment of truth that cigar thing I believe really helps you visualize that

Oh yeah one more thing I want to try something came to my mind there was a guy named Red Adams pitching coach for the dodger back when who advocated when you take the ball out of your glove turn your thumbs down ok that sets off a lot of other moves such as your elbows now with a bat in your hands at the plate before you load I'm thinking a relaxed but upper body connected position ala babe Ruth ok lower 1/2 loads and as Ted Williams said you cock your hands then we'll if your hand action was bottom thumb up top thumb down your palms would be 180 degrees out where you want them to be but it sets you up ( as top hand hitter) for me anyway to get that top hand going under the cigar plane and that move gets you to palm up a Mike Austin Barry Bonds throwing action but athletically like any throwing I believe there should be a push off your back foot ok that as is known in golf gives you r hands a free ride into that lag position which I think if you overdo that you lose something in your swing ok you r not effectively behind the ball ok so one other thing I wanted to try was swinging swinging that sweet spot as a paddle or catching the ball and being in and through the hitting zone via the taper of the bat if that makes sense I want to try both swing the sweet spot as a hammer or mallet or do that exact same thing but lead that action with taper of bat almost instaneous this was an Eddie Merrins thing the little pro they called him for golf release is when club head passes hands your out of the zone then

@@JermaineCurtis55 Hi Jermaine, there is alot of controversy around the hitting approach by teacherman. He reference alot of the loading and swing path to Barry and other high level power hitters. I am just curious on what you think of his teaching. I am trying to help my 12yr son and 9yr daughter and love your approach and contents you are putting out.

I hear ya. I think he is a good marketer and good at creating noise...which allows him to get eyes on his content. I think that his stuff is good for players at a high level because they know how to control the barrel and know the details of hitting. In addition, in pro ball, all the coaches are preaching the same thing so hearing an outside perspective is fresh and this is why pro players are gravitating to him. On the other side, I don't think players at the younger levels should watch it...because they haven't yet learned how to hit. Plus, they don't have the hand eye coordination to control the barrel that way, yet. I do think the older they get they can start using his style of hitting. But, the funny thing is...none of the pro players that he talks about ever thought about what he teaches. I watched a video of what he was sharing and watched a video of myself and I was doing the same thing without even knowing what I was doing...and all I did was use a 1 handed bat (using the top hand) and turning the barrel and trying to drive it in the air. This created the path that he is talking about. I think his stuff is good and I think there is a place for him in baseball. I think players can be successful using his teachings. But, I do think you have to have some talent and ability. I wouldn't teach a 12 year old or a 9 year old that stuff yet. At 14 or 15, yes but I hope that your kid has bat speed and is in the gym. Otherwise, those are fly-outs. And college coaches need to win. So, my advice is go through the battles of learning how to hit and learn your strengths and weaknesses, as a hitter, and then play to your strengths every single day. That's the best way to be successful. That's the best way to be recruited. That's the best way to stand out. Thank you for this Great question...I might do a video on him.

Yes, Shohei please. Do these videos have to be so long. My kid is a visual person, after 2.minutes he moves into another video. You get paid cause they are watching longer, but quantity doesn't mean quality.
