I remember him constantly dribbling cross-field off his wing against Villa in the first game of the season and we had no idea how to handle it. It seemed such a simple move but he was threatening every time, it was infuriating. His sprint stamina is exceptional, he never stops, and now he's getting goals as well. Cole Palmer (who has none of Gordon's athleticism) scores a couple of pens and pundits start engraving the Ballon D'or but Gordon is clearly a far more effective player. Is it his cartoonish face that makes people underestimate him? Or that he came through at Everton? Good video

As a Toon fan I wasn't sold on the signing, but my god, what an unbelievably hard working, talented and intelligent player. I loved ASM, but Gordon is LEVELS above. So intelligent, can play LW, RW, ST and 8/10, he's done them all for us, and been good at them all. He's literally been our best player this season. The fact he hasn't had an England call up is absolutely outrageous, no shade on Palmer but he's literally scored 4 pens, Gordon has got MOTM multiple times, 6 goals from open play, won us pens, got 3 assists, and just literally been our most important player by far since the start of the season.

I agree and was in the same boat. I feel like even he’s at his peak, (which is unlikely given his age), there’s no reason he would get any worse until he’s mid-thirties. That’s a decade plus of a very dangerous player. As it is, he seems incredibly driven, so I think he will improve. Even another few percent is massive when you’re already amazing. I’m only a few minutes into this video but I’m assuming it’s all about his understanding of space. That will not go away. Once Southgate moves on, he’ll be a staple of the England squad for many years.

Gordon’s worse position for Newcastle has actually been as centre forward, which is the position he played at in the U21 Euros (where he was player of the tournament). When Barnes is fit and Minteh gets in the First Team, they are going to run rings around opposition teams, especially with Livermento and Hall as full-backs.

I remember reading so many mocking comments when we signed this lad. And he did indeed have a slow start. But what he's become in a short amount of time under Howe and his team is absolutely incredible. And more importantly, you can just tell that Gordon is genuinely loving playing for Newcastle. It turned out to be a very good match and a very good decision to take a chance on him. We've got a lot of talented, hard working players and he is undoubtedly up there with the very best of them. Even if we had our entire squad at full strength, he's probably the player we would miss the most if he ever couldn't play. It's between him and Trips for sure.

Right enough of giving these tactics away now delete the video thank you very much😉🤣 but well spotted anyway 👍👏👏🖤🤍🖤🤍

I think when he signed for Newcastle, most fans of both the selling and signing club would agree it was for an inflated fee (not that Newcastle fans were unhappy with it - but if we are being honest, it wasnt seen as a fantastic signing.) He was electric for the u21 (england) in pre-season and continued that into the pre-season friendlies, and has continued it into the league-proper. Deserves a call up to the England squad. He offers something that not a lot of our (england) wingers offer. And this video didn't even go into how good the lad has been defensively, too. Anthony Gordon is the bee’s knees. He is one of the best forwards The Premiership has to offer. He is also made to look good in a team which has trust, endeavour and more than a smattering of skill. He’s part of a beating heart. He’s part of the orchestra which is Newcastle United. As such, he is bloody marvellous. Would he still be running himself ragged when the chips were down? Has he the love, loyalty and character of Ritchie or Lascelles? He shines. He is no better than I think. But, he has not been tried and tested. Now, if this is an attempt to get him into the England squad, which invariably consists of players playing in London (or, within an 80 mile radius of London), Liverpool and Manchester, I understand where you are coming from. You want to see our monster recognised. Will the monster, at the heart of our team, be able to step ... down? We all know that the best club teams can tear the arse out of national teams. Stepping down, to play for England, needs a heart and soul willing to shed blood, sweat and tears. Is Anthony Gordon worthy? I think so, but what do I know?

This is why data analysts and scouts at the top level are paid the big bucks. Gordon wasn’t a productive player at Everton, hence why so many people said it was an overpay, but the Newcastle analysts have obviously worked with Howe and given reports specifying these abilities (the pace, movement, intelligence, physical attributes) of which Howe has been confident he can turn into productivity through coaching and the system. It just highlights how good a coach Eddie Howe is that it’s only took 6months of working with Gordon for him to go from a relegation battling youngster to potentially starting for England at the Euros.

He was annoying as an everton player, but that just probably means he's annoying everyone but newcastle fans now. While you could say he had a slow start, he did also just look like a player who was trying way too hard. I had a feeling things would click, but not to this level. Never properly noticed the genius of his off the ball movement til now, so ta for the video.

Can't believe we only got £45m for him. We should have kept to our £65m valuation we had with Chelsea.
