I had some sort of rod surgically implanted into my scaphoid (wrist) when I fractured it as a kid. I also remember having braces and fillings for my teeth and cavities, respectively. When I went to get an MRI, I was terrified that my fillings, braces, and the rod in my wrist would be violently ripped out of my body as soon as they turned on the machine. I legit thought it was all made of metal and I might've been killed. I also thought it would set off all metal detectors whenever going thorough airports.

My strong magnet is only able to affect like 5 inches away, I guess that even with such a huge magnet setup as in the video above you'd only be able to affect like barely 1 yard away.

The laptop used here is the Dell Latitude D630. I have this very laptop! It was my work laptop when working for the U.S. federal government and was allowed to buy it when it upgraded. This make/model was very common in the government because, at the time of its release, it was one of a select number of models that had built-in smartcard readers. You could choose either the D630 or D610. What is strange about this BB scene is that this model would have been the LAST thing they could use. For starters, you could not walk into any electronic store and buy a D630 -- or any Latitude model. Retail stores carry only the Inspiron line which is inferior to the Latitude line made only for business/government use. Even if they wanted the D630 specifically, it would have to be mail-ordered which took weeks.

The fall-off of an electromagnetic field is subject to inverse square law, it is not linear... Meaning that the core of the field is where the magnetism lies.. when that core extends to the laptop it pulls it with great force.. but the fall-off only barely extended about a couple feet from the core of the expanding field.. that's why the laptop started to shake a little, then quickly became impossible to hold on to.

Me too. The casting/protrayal is bang-on perfect. Everyone knows or knows of an old-school guy like this who has spent his entire working life in overalls. Not a scientist like Walt, but absolutely brimming with practical common-sense and problem solving abilities. Probably awesome at welding/fabricating and fixing stuff that looks like it should be way too heavy for him to manage on his own too. And cool, but definitely no pushover. Doesn't seem intimidated in the slightest by the group of quite hardcore criminals who are in his yard, openly telling him about some super illegal operation they wanna pull AT A POLICE STATION! And when Hank wants to get in that RV, Joe wastes no time and is pretty assertive in trying to stop Hank, by quoting the law back at Hank (which shows he must have some book-smarts too). Also, he didn't even NEED to do that, Jesse and Walt weren't exactly regular clients nor were they paying him "stay quiet" fees. He could have simply walked to the other side of the yard and let Hank get on with it and denied any knowledge. Stepping in like that he sorta put himself at risk if Hank did bust in there and discovered everything. In my head, Joe, Mike and Lawson the gun dealer all in the same place at the same time would have got on great with one another. All three of them took their respective business extremely seriously and professionally and were not too into the business of "ego" and BS.

Another detail is that the truck they have the magnet in has no ECU and probably a points ignition. Zero logic or complex circuits in that truck at all just flat out mechanical operation and basic wiring far less likely to be destroyed by the magnet. Of course they cant get away in the truck anyway but they originally planned to.
