    Love the common sense layout of this ship. I'm a bit surprised with it's small cargo capacity that it wasn't marketed as an armed diplomatic shuttle or troop transport.

    I agree! It would've been a much better seller for those roles too. Just a ship that didn't find the right market right away.

    @@TheKingofbrooklin You mean a proper scouting vessel like the Borg Sphere? The Borg Sphere is also a more common Type of long range Borg Scouting Vessel that was a very heavily armed, heavily armored, sphere-shaped Borg starship (that sort of resembles the First Death Star from "Star Wars") used by the Borg Collective during the late 24th century. (As you can see here when the USS Voyager encounters and is attacked by a Borg Sphere for the very first time: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qqSpxtxum6i0fdo.html )

    This is the choice ship for my Mandalorian Bounty Hunter, Xonn Khrys. His ship is called the Dragon's Fortune, named so because he paid for the ship and it's modifications with a Krayt Dragon Pearl. It has 2 turret-mounted quad laser cannons, 2 forward facing Ion Cannons, Concussion Missile Launcher, space mine launchers that house the Void-7 Seismic Charges, and a tractor beam. The freighters on board commercial Shielding was replace with more potent regenerating shield emitters acquired from the Mon Calamari military. Additional armor plating was added as well to reinforce the structural weak points of the hull. On board the Dragon's Fortune half of the passenger space has been converted to holding cells. The more troublesome bounties get the cold shoulder as they're frozen with the ship's on board Carbonite Freezing System and slab storage. Other features of the ship include a Droid Repair Team of 3 astromech droids, a KX-Series security Droid that is Xonn's copilot, medical suite with bacta tank, Armory and cryo-furnace for weapons and armor maintenence. The Dragon's Fortune is fast, maneuverable like an X-Wing starfighter, can take a hit while dishing out equally devastating hits back. A fine starship for any that follow the Creed of the Mand'alor. This is the Way.

    Some of those pictures have a YT 2000 center body. Like the YT-1300 there was no set interior design, it was whatever design the buyer wanted. The YT-series owner manual has a completely different layout.

    The West End games people who made this must not have known the central fore space on the 1300 was to lock in on external cargo pods. The YT 1300’s weren’t just small freighters they were cargo tug boats. These were great designs for a non-tug boat ship.

  • @johnmeerabux5224

    @johnmeerabux5224

    Yes, it is a shame. The central cockpit makes those mandibles of no use. It should have been raised higher above cargo like the alternate central cockpit YT-1300. 😅But they aren’t the only ones who made a poor design choice, the Outrider should probably have a central cockpit since it does NOT have mandibles.

    @@johnmeerabux5224 I think it got lost in the sauce that they were pushing cargo. They built a whole fleet of small freighters that didn't push cargo pods, and thus were like tractor trailers with a bigger cab.

    Beef up it's engines, especially those big ones. As in more engines. Then replace the cockpit and mini-maws for the front section of a YG-4210 (engine less). But you can see the basic lines of the future VCX-820 already in her.

    This design, and others like it with a central cockpit and two mandible like appendages at the front, contradict the design ethos of the Millennium Falcon. The similarities don't make sense, in that the Falcon's mandibles were originally for holding cargo. With a central cockpit, this would seem to make this design obsolete - I mean what is the purpose of the mandibles with a central cockpit poking our the front. Is it just lazy film and animated series production designers who don't understand what the mandibles are for?
