I seriously wish they have given much larger role to the workers and all other viable combine occupation jobs as they intended it makes the whole world building much more interesting and deep

I think the Hazmat workers have yellow eyes too, but since we always see them dead, the masks are turned "off", like it happens for soldiers

Yeah it is at the 1:59 There is written «Бригада 6». Or “Brigade 6”. What is in between of the word brigade and six i cannot read.

HL2 was originally gonna have Combine workers as well, as seen in the beta. I'm glad that they brought back the concept. 3:12 Also, are you sure that's not just skin, because that's what it looks like to me.

Well you can clearly see that they have a line where the fabric is stitched together along with the fact they aren't bald

That does appear to be fabric. Albeit, extremely skin tight, which is why some of the stains sort of blend between the two. It wraps around below the chin which is not really visible without clipping into the model a bit.

Feedback on your video title: "Universal Union" is not an official title or proper noun of the Combine, and your title is part of and perpetuates that misunderstanding of Half-Life 2. The subtitles for the dialogue explicitly have 'universal union' as not capitalized because it's a descriptor and not a proper title or noun. Meanwhile, the Combine is capitalized in the subtitles as a proper known and title. No hate, though! Love your videos!

Yes, the only names it was called by was Combine by 'small minds' and Benefactors by Doctor Breen, not saying its their name but its their status of relationship with Mankind as described by Dr. Breen

Something I liked about Half-Life is that the Combine don't appear to have any one official name as mentioned by the games (although I am yet to play Alyx). They're commonly called the Combine but this name is derided by Breen, although later used by him sincerely in a moment of panic. The name "universal union" is indeed also portrayed skeptically by Breen if I remember correctly. I imagine globally there must be many, many names for the invaders, but do they even really need a proper noun? Everybody on the planet knows who and what they are. I guess I'm saying no name is more official than any other. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Aww, I'm a bit disappointed that the Worker in the intro was actually spotting for the Strider; I originally thought they were ducking for safety. 😆

Weird how Dr. Breen talks about the term "combine" being sort of an uncultured insult used by simple-minded citizens, and then in half-life Alyx the combine themselves use it

they used the term in HL2 as well. CMB is plastered over everything. it's a common misconception and one the author of this video holds as well that the uu word is somehow a substitute name for the Combine. the word "Combine" is not an insult to them at all. Breen in HL2 uses the word Combine extensively when speaking about them too.

someone on steam at one point was going to make the combine worker into a high detailed model with all three uniform variants, but the mod was mysteriously removed and now I can't find it anymore, it would have been cool to see how the orange grey workers as non zombie form.

Do you think the combine modified these guys at all or are they just dudes like with the cops?

The Combine on earth were lacking in resources, that's why the destruction of the Citadel was such a big goal of the resistance because they can't produce much without it, so I bet they did everything they could to get people to work for them without resorting to conversion, aside from combat roles.

I would assume the Stalkers were reserved for the more secretive Combine construction and repair jobs. Like stuff inside the Citadel or other similar bases.

Likely because Stalkers aren't something the Combine like to show off given how horrific they'd be to most people, and they'd undermine the goal of pacifying humanity. They're likely reserved for secretive structures and jobs of a highly sensitive nature to the occupation. It's also possible that Stalkers hadn't been created, or widely implemented, at the time of Half-Life Alyx.
