You make a very good point about diving for the ANGLE and not for the ball since the ball is moving. One thing I think that needs to be noted, is WHEN to come off the line. To early and you give up a chip... to late and you leave the whole goal open. So that would be something to address. Also, what specifically are you looking for when to dive? A: A bad touch, they to get close or a touch around. Hit the ground then. Other than that good points. I've saved this as a good ex of 1v1 training.

I always made the mistake of diving with my feet first, when my practice came we were doing a 1v1 drill and I did a much better job. THANK YOU SO MUCH off to nationals

Very nice video for keepers to fine tune perfection. With youth, they rarely set themselves once they get moving and get schooled by more seasoned forwards. I will share this with my boy, Thanks!

BJ - when they are coming in fast but keep the ball close, your best bet is to stalk them until they are close enough for you to pick a side and dive. The key is to not dive at the ball rather the ANGLE. As far as which side, follow your gut and don't worry about being wrong because your feet will wrap around and cut off the other angle. Once you master this technique your confidence on breakaways will grow and you will save more breakaways than you let in.

What's the style of the Nike gloves? I had a very similar pair a few years back, unfortunately left them at training one night by accident & when I went back to collect they were gone!! I thought they were a great glove & am currently in need of a new pair for this season.

Wrap you feet around? You are losing a half steps time using this technique. Attack the ball. Double cobra technique and pin that ball to the ground so you can 1) protect your head, and 2) keep the player from being able to knock it out of your hands. Wrapping your feet around turns your body so that if, for any reason, the ball pops out, it pops our towards the goal and ends up being a simple finish for the player.

The best aggressive dive is to get them to make a big touch by rushing out and pressure will make them do it and you can easily steal in... Although I lost my games I made 10-15 rush saves. (Defence was bad)
