I don't think that the songs seem so simple, just the opposite, quite complex but are so flawlessly played
The amazing thing about Bread is that the next song will be your favorite.
Bread was collectively studio musicians first before forming a band. Very talented musicians and a very gifted singer.
I'm 65 thank God..but this was a great PARKING song..matter of fact the whole 8 trac was great .. sure does make this old mind escape reality for a few minutes..thanks ladies..
Bread the best soft rock band in the world
Ahhhh yes.... one of the ABC's of 70's AM radio: America Bread Carpenters These 3 groups and their music was everywhere.
Love Bread. My favourite by them is Diary. “I found a diary underneath a tree and started reading about me……”.

Also my favorite -- don't know if they've done it yet, but they absolutely MUST if they haven't. So beautiful and heartbreaking and sweet
Bread's songs all have so much emotion to them. Amazing is an understatement.
You still have Diary, It don't Matter To Me, Aubrey, and Everything I Own left to go, you will not be disappointed by any of them.
Music is as much a time and place as it is a sound. This brings back good memories.
The word you're looking for is ..."eargasm"!
The trifecta back in the day Bread, Traffic and the Hollies. Magical bands.
Larry Knechtel played the guitar solo on this & In 1970 Knechtel won a Grammy Award for his piano work on "Bridge over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel. R.I.P. Larry

He's one of the original members of The wrecking Crew, a group of La based studio musicians responsible for much of the music recorded in the 60s '70s and even eighties. There's a good documentary on the wrecking crew out there I recommend everyone see it.

He was also a member of Bread
7:36 at that moment where you're talking about what he does with his voice with the word "ANOTHER" (place to play) -- that is called a "trill" -- he goes very quickly in the second syllable -- a-Nu-uh-uh-ther -- up and down on adjacent notes. David Gates was a master of this vocal technique, and YES, it is very beautiful. I LOVE this song -- particularly the ending, when you hear the crowd fade in and out and in at the end -- underscoring the lyrics stating that the crowd begins to thin -- in that little special effect, they perfectly encapsulate both the ups and downs of the Guitar Man's career as well as his obliviousness to it when he is so deeply focused on playing the music. This is a work of genius of a great band.
This was actually always one of my favorites by Bread. I still have the vinyl LP that this was on
There is no such thing as a bad "Bread" song. I love them all, but "Diary" and "Aubrey" are two great, somewhat underrated, songs that top my list! Great reaction 😍.
Played this thousands of times. One of my favorite groups.
Bread sort of gently hits you with a sledgehammer with their music.
And the Ear-gasm train keeps rolling!!!!
I was in high school when Bread made the scene. The music from the 60s & 70s was fantastic!
I was 12 when this song came out and I've loved it ever since.
David Gate’s wonderful,warm intimate voice.Classic.
I'm just glad I grew up in that boom time inspired by real musicians like this..
This is one of those songs where the mood, the production, the melody is magical. It kind of the same feeling inside I get listening to songs like Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman". And yes, you're right hit has a slight country feel mixed with pop/rock.

I had the opportunity to perform in front of a crowd several times as part of a musical act. Getting cheers and applause from the crowd was intoxicating, a high if you will. I understand what keeps performers going. It's the love, acceptance and reception from the audience.

@@generationgapreacts Thanks, I'm not sure we were excellent, but that's nice of you to say. I think a lot of the reaction was based on us just being willingly to get up in front of people and give it a go.
Great reaction. I really love this song. One of those songs that the more I hear it the better it gets. Definitely a pleasure to hear.
any music from Bread will take you back to good times, one of many take a look at 'Yours for life', 'Everything I own',, best of Bread Album will be the best hour of listening you can enjoy.
Great song. One of my favorite songs by Bread.💯🇺🇲👍
Amazing music from the past !❣
I used to listen to Breads greatest hits long ago with an obsession.
Bread also did some great hard-rocking songs, even though they're best known for their ballads. Try "Down on My Knees," "Let Your Love Go," and others!
Queensryche with the Song Silent Lucidity. Wonderful with Spirit.
Love the music from Bread, my favorite songs are, If, Make It With You, Everything I Own, to name a few
This reminds me of my youth with my parents on holiday in the car playing the cassette tape....one of favs ever...
Very astute point about this being "a tribute to guitar players." Just a twinge of a psychedelic vibe to this track as well.
So full of emotion. These guys were so talented. Thanks for sharing.
This is some of the best easy music that is grew up with. Bread and Yes were some of my favorite soft rock easy listening groups. Please keep up the great job and you ladies have a blessed day
Love Bread, "Baby, I'm a want you" is my favourite of theirs.
Hello ..this 87 yr old Divorced /Widower from the Uk, Loves you ladies & your Music selections.. I know most of them . & sometimes have to question the Logic behind your thinking. ? Best part .. I have forgotten a lot of the songs & your Channel is visually attractive .. Thank you..XX
I have often heard it called Ear Candy, maybe that's what it is
Well done Ladies another great reaction 👏 keep up the fantastic work
Gap girls, I noticed your live stream from last night is not posted in the videos. When I clicked on the link in the community to go back and watch it, the screen came up black and showed a message that it was blocked because it contained material from SME (Sony Music Entertainment)

I noticed that too.
Fantastic song and one of those tunes that just zaps me back to my days in the 70's ! David Gates voice is one out of the box ! He is a great song writer and he is like the male Karen Carpenter. A voice with songs that are simply amazing ! Cheers from down under 😎
This and London Bridge were always my favourites
Love Bread. Their mellow pop sound really helped define the music of the first half of the 1970's. They have a great catalog of songs. David Gates singing and songwriting is fantastic. You should also check out his top solo hit "Goodbye Girl".
My fav album back in the early 70's was their "Best of Bread". This song was on it. Look it up on YT and just listen to it some evening.
The bass line is what really drives this song. Each note is played with a purpose making everyone else in the band sound that much better.
A smooth voice velvet in nature, easy on the ears. Probably best heard, sat in the dark, fire roaring, nice glass of red wine and if your lucky with someone special
I grew up listening to the soft rock music of Bread in the 70's & had their albums. Love David Gates voice. He has one of the most soothing & mellow voices. They had so many hits such as "Make It With You", "Baby I'm-a Want You", "Everything I Own", "Diary", "Lost Without Your Love", "It Don't Matter To Me", "Sweet Surrender", "Aubrey" etc. In 1978, Gates enjoyed success as a solo artist with the hit singles "Goodbye Girl" (from the movie The Goodbye Girl) & "Took The Last Train".
The lead guitarist on this was Larry Knectal (not sure of the spelling) who made his living as a studio musician before he joined the group. He's the guy who played piano on Simon and Garfunkel 's song Bridge over Troubled Water. He played bass for the Doors studio recordings. He played harmonica for Bread's song Welcome to the Music and played some wicked organ solos for many Bread tunes.

Definitely love Bread, David Gates has an amazing voice, as a teenager growing up as young boys we never admitted we liked Bread but we knew all the words. This song is actually pretty rock for Bread

Bread could rock. Most of the singles did not reflect that, aside from Mother Freedom, but songs like "Daughter" or "Fancy Dancer" had some umph to them! Oh, and "Dream Lady!"
. A super sound production that is 50 years old now but still sounds fresh and David with that old Tulsa Okie southern accent compliments the story of the guitar man to the most you cant get enough of .. This song hits a zenith ever day .
It has been a long time since l heard this song. Music was awesome back then. It was a time of the songwriter. The cool thing is what you are hearing is them. There was no computers to change their sound. I don't think synthesizer was invented yet.
Eargasm😁
Baby Cap, I think "EAR CANDY" would be a good way to explain the vibe. I love this song!
Hi ladies. Check out Bread's "Let Your Love Go", for a bit of a rocker.
Bread was just fantastic....I might like them and Karen Carpenter the best of anybody else. I wish these wonderful ladies would do her more.
One of my favourites from Bread too, ladies ! .. Lyrically and musically top notch.👌.. I agree that their music is so unassuming and easy to listen to that it appears "simple", but it's really quite masterful .. And Mamma Gap, those short guitar phrases are called "guitar fills" .. Thanks, Wayne 😊
I love the David Gates sound, but the studio used him to overshadow James Griffin, who wrote and sang some incredible songs for the band as well. Griffin's tunes were just never given an "A" side. Check out the track "Our Lady Of Sorrow," one of James' best tracks sometime :D
checkin in...
Dear Gap ladies, if you're by chance taking suggestions for Christmas songs, I'd like to submit a few of my favorite renditions of some classics for your consideration, Thanks! 🙂 "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - The Petersens (LIVE)" "Santa Train / Sleigh Ride - The Petersens (LIVE)" "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - The Petersens (LIVE)" "Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel by The Franz Family // Canon 5D Mark II" "The Franz Family - Carol of the Bells" "Amber Dotson - Blue Christmas"
They're called "eargasms"... 😉
I agree completely, Baby Gap. This is amazing heartfelt song. Made my eyes water as it has before. I had am album with this song on it. I remember listening to it a lot. The applause at the end reminded me of a story. I took a synthesizer and recording class in July 1979 as an elective at the end of my freshman year in college. We all had compositions that we created on the synthesizer and using 4 different tracks on our tape recordings. One of the guys recorded applause at the beginning of his recording. I suppressed my laughter, but he noticed I was laughing. Then he started laughing. Pretty soon we were nearly rolling in the floor laughing. Funny memory.
Wow two reactions to songs that I love. One from my youth with Bread and one from my new favorite band Nightwish. Thank you for that and making this old man happy and a bit sad as well.
Tell mom I remember this song very well!
I enjoyed this reaction very much. David Gates son was my college classmate and friend. He came once to my country to visit and stayed at my house. David is a true musical genius. Cheers
Beautiful memories 🎶
Baby I'm a want you, bread, one of there greatest hits...

Born in January 1960 here and you are so right!
Eargasm is the word😁
One of my all time favorites. Please react to Dimash (pronounced: Dee - Mosh), he may be the best male singer on the Planet, maybe ever, certainly the most gifted. He has a range of 6 octaves and he sings songs in 12 different languages. Please react to him singing "SOS", live, in French at the Slavic Bazaar in 2019. He is incredible!
I love seeing your first time reaction. My first pick from this album would be Aubrey which is so beautiful. Our local mall opened in 1972 and was selling certain albums for $1.72 to celebrate. Guitar Man was one that I picked up. Also, their next hit song after Make It With You was It Don't Matter To Me which is another fantastic one.
I first heard this song as a cover by a band called Cake. Cake. Bread. Seems appropriate.
Ear Worm!
Love this group and your reaction.
If you think this song is gorgeous you should listen to Aubrey... make sure you keep your box of tissues handy... one of my favs Bread songs... David Gate's voice is next level on this one...
"Eargasm" There, found that word for you!
"Diary" is probably my favorite. Beautiful song and there is a surprise in the story it tells. Wonderfully put together.
I think the correct technical term for that is, "eargasm". 😉 Used to hate them because my older sister would play that album none stop, except the song, "Freedom", which is more rockin'. Appreciate them more now over time.
Larry Knechtel did the electric guitar with the waa waa sound.
Now you’re digging up some Gold. The last one for tonight, but I’ll be back to listen for more. I was in the Smokey Mountains North Carolina side, Murphy N.C.. Deep in the mountains outside of Murphy in Hanging Dog Community, yes you read it right. I was Thirteen years old, I was so far back in the wilderness that they had to pump sunshine in to us. All I had is a tape recorder that played cassettes. Oh the memories, the puppy love type. When you know where you were the first time you heard it. Sorry to go on these rants but another one was Alone Again Naturally 1971 by Gilbert O’Sullivan and yes it was a Great song for its time. Again I apologize for giving so much feedback.
Thanks for listening. Always enjoy your reaction videos. May I suggest another song by Bread, Lost Without Your Love!!!!
Such great riffs
You’ll love the song “IF” by bread. Imo one the thee most beautiful love songs ever written ❤
Great song
I am so glad you are enjoying Bread. Great reaction. I encourage you to listen to their song "Aubrey". Stunningly beautiful song about his ideal woman.
As a kid, I would put my 8 track tape of Bread, or the Carpenters in at bedtime. My lullaby’s were sung by Karen Carpenter and David Gates. Wonderful times!
They don’t sing or write lyrics like this anymore. Simple, mellow, beautiful 😊
70s baby 🤓👍
This is one of those songs that absolutely transports you. Mama Gap, the interaction between the sung lines and the related guitar lines that follow is what you might term "call and response."
Love seeing your first reactions- nicely done! BTW, you guys are really cute - at times your mannerisms are exactly alike when you’re listening!
Me and my friends used to call it ear candy.
look up the song titles "Diary" by Bread
Nice reaction, generational representatives! I love Bread and I'm pleased you are enjoying them as well. I heard once that they got stuck behind a bread truck on their way to a gig and that is where they took the name from, but I have no idea if that is true or not. "Everything I Own" is another great song from this band!
that was "ear pleasing"!
Aubry and Diary just do it , you will not be disappointed
'The Best of Bread'........is the only album of their's I ever even remember seeing. I know I bought a copy in the 70s or 80s. David Gates was the dude who sang though. I believe I looked him up & he was still producing or doing something behind the scenes in the music industry.
Great livestream last night Gap girls! Can't wait for the next one. The Christmas stream and the country stream that you mentioned are particularly what I'm looking forward to.🙂 Oh, and another idea I thought of when your guys were taking about ideas for livestreams, an 'acoustic' livestream would be really different and cool. Songs take a whole different feel when there isn't a full backing band. It makes you really focus on the singer and pay attention to the lyrics. Listening to an artist play a piano or an acoustic guitar while they are singing just gives a more intimate feel to the song. You hang on every word being sung and every note being played..
Too much yakking! I like Mom!😍
Emotional!
