Brazilian Grand Prix Travel Drama

After what was an amazing Mexican Grand Prix, it was time to head off to the next race on the F1 2021 schedule, the Brazilian F1 race. Although not free of drama of course, because this week my flight was cancelled. Did I make it to Brazil ahead of the Interlagos F1 race? Stick around to witness all the Brazilian Grand Prix travel drama.

I guess this is also why most drivers fly private. On instagram someone mentioned that Hamilton also used a helicopter for the airport, so I guess they have separate entering strategies and entrances.

@@ItachiUchiha-nj9wx : Maybe it's one of Mr Mateschitz's aircraft, he has one or two planes you know and an airport. Max could certainly afford one. Another driver sold his plane for environmental reasons, which has gotta be good and now he fly's on private jets others own so all that kerosene is now much more environmentally friendly. If you are interested in big private jets, I suggest you look at all the ones landing in Scotland at FLOP26. Some really big luxurious jets there.
I spent 20 years photographing Indy Car racing. The last 9+ years my client was Pennzoil. Three years coving Penske Racing and Rick Mears and then 6 covering Jim Hall Racing and (in order) John Andretti, Teo Fabi and Gil de Ferran. I was based in Chicago and much of the season was in the Midwest. Most of the time I drove to the venue, stayed in a motel; did the three days and drove home. The only distant travel (fly to); was Pocono, Phoenix, and Laguna Seca. A couple of years there was a Miami race and we all stayed at a hotel that had monorail service to the park. They warned us in Miami not to get off the monorail until you were in the park. I remember looking down on businesses that had razor wire on the roof of the building! Getting to the event shouldn't be an adventure. However, in your case it is. This was the era of film (only the press photographers had the "new digital cameras"). When I drove home, I had the first 2 days film written up and would write up the last (Sunday) rolls at a rest stop or in the lab parking lot. Put the packages through the slot and head home. By Monday pm I would have the first rolls and no later than Tuesday noon the balance. My client (a public relations company) was based in Redondo Beach, California so FedEx overnight had the coverage by Wednesday. The times have changed and i would imagine the pressure to internet images immediately is on you all the time. Probably between sessions at the track! I am retired now and living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. At my age (76) I have no desire to carry 20 to 30 lbs. of cameras around a race track. My wife and I are still huge race fans and we will both get up in the middle of the night to see a F1 race from some distant shore. Keep up the good work.

I've come to realize that I'm starting to enjoy the endless tales of travel woes you experience. I don't like the idea of taking joy in other people's suffering, so I'm glad when you always make it out alive and usually in one piece! You're a stronger man than most to keep up this never ending F1 schedule without going home in-between races!

Not sure I could do it perpetually but it’s been a very interesting year. And maybe my country may allow me to come and go next year. Well not so much the country, my state Western Australia.
The quality of your videos are just exceptional! Just a quick comment about Brazil's safety, I was born there but moved to the UK when I was pretty young so never had a chance to properly live there, but the times I went there with my mom she always used to say, don't show off too much and you will be just fine. Truth is she got robbed twice in London, where she has lived for 18 years and never got touched back in Brazil, a place where she lived for over 35 years! Obviously these big events will tell these safety warnings but I would definitely recommend a visit whenever you can, amazing country, one that I wish I could have lived for a bit more time.
Jeezzzzz lord, that's a chaotic rush but glad you arrived safely. Love your work and hope to see more amazing stuff 🤩

Why do you use the name of Christ to cuss? 🤔 His name ain’t a swear word my friend. You wouldn’t use your mother or your fathers name now would you. If you’re going to cuss then cuss using cuss words. Don’t blaspheme. Just doesn’t make any sense. God Bless. Whether you believe or not. My 2 cents for the night
The VARIG flight ✈️ is great too and a beautiful stop on Manaus BR. Very comfortable and always on time ☺️
Another excellent video Kym. The travelling, the connecting flights, the check ins and the checkt outs.... it's probably the main reason I watch your videos now. I still love the F1 racing content that you make too, but these "behind the scenes" travelogues are the shizznit.

As a Brazilian its quite hard to read all these negative comments about our country, but what can we say? It's true. Although you can be robbed in other countries, we cant ignore the fact that Brazil its always been a Dangerous place, not as dangerous as the rest of the world suggests, but yeah we have some problems. I think we're just used to live here and as natives we know how to avoid such situations. But i really hope that Kym have a wonderful stay in Brazil! Love your videos.

Context about the airport issue: There is a big public health situation with the supply of medicine, specifically oncological treatment for children, so their parents close the roads that give access to the International Airport. Pd, Kym I saw you at the podium in Mexico City GP, big fan! 🇲🇽♥️

Great content as always and the comments on GP Brazil instructions to basically avoid showing up with anything that attracts unsavoury attention is a good reason to avoid going to Brazil for any trips.
If it isn't in the glass bottle, it's not the 'Mexican' Coca-Cola that you're thinking of.
International travel can be stressful at the best of times. Can't wait to get back to Europe though.
Awesome!
Brazil is wild, been there a hand full of times now for personal travels and a Rock in rio show and a few other concerts we've played. But, it can get dangerous and people will try to swindle you. It's just the basics; don't wear gold, flashy stuff, and try not to go when tourists are gonna be plentiful. Just don't wander in the city as it's easy to walk into shady places without trying. Oh, and be careful, my friend and band mate went in single and came back to the us a married man. That's some scary stuff (i kid I kid, her family and her are amazing people) Little tip, Ç=S sound not a hard C. So junção corner is junSão. The ÃO has a "similar" sound to a meditating monk going "aumm" and not a AO like "Mao zedong". So not a "Ah oh" sound. Got told off and made to learn that by Raisa and her family.

The ç also exists in French. It's the reason why the word FACADE in English is pronounced FASSADE. Because in French it is FAÇADE

as a mexican I’m sorry to hear of your negative experiences but indeed there’s a lot of talking of all the money involved in F1, hence why they told you not to have any ids visible. Also about the protest in the airport, sadly we have had a shortage of various medicines for a long time now. Especially medicines for treating cancer in kinds so now families have taken the airport as it seems to be the only way the government will listen. It started the week of the GP but it’s still going on. However, I hope you enjoyed yourself and are willing to come back at some point as its a beautiful country.
