Brazil has managed to significantly reduce deforestation in the Amazon forest, but the devastation continues to increase in other important ecosystems. Among the hardest hit is the Cerrado, a savanna-like environment which has become a preferred target for farms looking to increase the production of commodities such as soy, corn, cotton, and beef.
