You gotta go old school Ace . Stay in a hostel meet some people do a walking tour meet some locals at a bar. The city is awesome and that is how you make connect. I did it that way when I went. Going solo anywhere for the first time with no itinerary and a limited vocabulary or dialect will limit you in Brazil. But decent video.

I walked around this area when I went to Rio a decade ago. The only place Americans know is the Zona Sul(south zone) with famous Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. But like 90% of Rio is not what you see in the postcards. It's interesting to see the other parts of the town where most people live if you are adventurous.

I followed you on your Argentina adventure. I lived in Buenos Aires Argentina for 10 years. Now I was in Rio de Janeiro Brazil for 30 days in December 2019. I don't hang out in tourist areas so I lived in the downtown area and I stayed at a nice but not luxury hotel for about 26 dollars a day that included breakfast and daily maid service. This is where you will find the local Brazilian lifestyle. And the public transportation will get you anywhere in Rio. I was in this same train 🚆 station many times ⏲. I'm looking forward to your Brazil videos 📹. Check out the Urca neighborhood 😀? Don't be afraid use your street smarts and you won't have any problems 😉. I was born and raised in Chicago. @@rexx9496 have you ever been to the United States? The United States is the most violent industrialized country in the world 🌎. But our media does a tremendous job of hiding the violent, homelessness and hunger in the in the United States. I have been traveling to South America since the 1990's. And most of the people that live in the fevalas are hard working good people that work in all the hotels, restaurants and bars in the tourist areas, l can't remember when a tourist actually got serious injured on murder on the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Most people that have problems are either trying to buy drugs or are victims of prostitution crimes. For some reason a lot of people want to portray Brazil has this crime ridden thrid world country and nothing can be further from the truth in my opinion and experience.

If you're walking around Rio sweating that's how they know you aren't from there. And probably why they're staring at him. Notice you'll never see the locals breaking a sweat. I notice this every time I go to a very hot and humid tropical country. I'm pouring sweat like a fountain, and yet the locals don't have even a bead of sweat on their forehead.
