These are soldiers, ready for action, highly trained The unforms they wear depict times in our history. They are not the wrappings of a birthday present. We forget what a great nation we are. Its all too easy to find fault, we should stop over critizing our nation. We have much to be proud of. We are today the beacon of democracy for the world, that stance so many other nations across the globe wish for themselves.

While our mis-government supports nazis in Ukraine? Beacon of democracy? To do that we need a complete reform to a real democracy and to regain our moral high standing which because of the incumbents of Downing Street and the dross in parliament we have lost along with the safety and security of our nation, which is their primary duty. Thank goodness we still have some good service personnel left who have not gone woke and DEI. Pity they are not defending OUR nation against an illegal invasion of enemies, but busy in the EU, or our air defences in Israel covering for Sunak's father in laws 1.5bn investment in Gaza's oil and gas resources. I have not forgotten that my great uncle was in Palestine in 1947, in Haifa, having served in ww2 from Dunkirk, to North Africa, Sicily, Italy to Austria, and the jewish terrorists tried to murder him, as they did with the King David Hotel and other atrocities. Many of my relatives served and fought for this nation, myself included, and what i see today shakes my confidence for the future. On the other hand i see great soldiers at work, God bless them and the 60,000 veterans on Universal Credit abandoned by our mis-government. Time for change is overdue. Stay safe and wise.

The Troopers and the Mounts have separate duty rotas so the Trooper gets whats allocated to him. Obviously they have their own favourite Mounts and where possible can draw that mount, but the upshot of all this is they have ALL got to be able to competently ride and do Ceremonial duties on any Mount given to them. It's exactly the same with the Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicles (Small Tank) the troopers of the Household Cavalry have, you can't pick the vehicle! It's not all work, they do play as well. Search for videos Household Cavalry at Holkham Beach or Household Cavalry at Yellowcraig Beach where they ride bareback in the open sea.

@@Hava744 : No, I don't. These mounts are Soldiers with Official Name, Official No (stamped on the hoof) and are not pets but trained as Military Horses as they have been for Centuries. FYI, the Blues & Royals prefer slightly bigger and heavier horses than the Life guards, but by pony standards they are "on the big side". When they retire they go to Army approved, Yards, Stables, Farms for retired military horses and spend the rest of their lives (as retired soldiers) VERY well cared for ( Yards etc., supervised by the Army) until they pass away generally from old age. They are only "put down" once their life has become tiresome for them and for no other reason, particularly financial. The Army never sells its retired Horses to 3rd Parties. It's a "good life".

The troopers with the scarlet tunics and white plumes are from The Lifeguards Regiment, those in blue tunics and red plumes are from The Blues and Royals Regiment. The others, with white feathered plumes in their hats are high-ranking officers, more than likely Lord Lieutenants (the Monarch's representative in every Shire and County in the UK). The few there were probably from the Home Counties (Counties surrounding London). There were some there in (very) tight-fitting tunics with a lot of gold braid across their chest, wearing a (short) bearskin hat (shako) with a straight red or white plume. They are from the Royal Horse Artillery. There was one man there with a red tunic and tall bearskin hat. He is an officer from the foot-guards. They ride with one hand so that the sabre can be used: They're 'ready for action'. (They fought, dressed like this during the Battle of Waterloo!). The band, ON HORSEBACK ride and steer their mount with their feet and knees and shifting their weight on the horses' backs. All present are capable of riding their mount 'no hands'. In a combat situation, these two regiments would be 'mounted' in lightly-armoured vehicles, performing reconnaissance and similar activities. As an example, the Blues and Royals (mounted in armoured vehicles) liberated Belsen concentration camp during WWII. I hope that helps. I could go on for quite a while...

Great display of skill horsemanship and riding skills getting horse to move and travel in formation and order. What about the fallen trooper, did you see his helmet, totally wrecked but glad he was ok and walking well and unhurt. What people forget is that the horse and rider are moving, even at a canter, a fall can do the rider serious injury, if they are going very fast it can be fatal to the rider if they come off.

I came on to see if anyone had commented about the injured horse earlier today. I read the poor creatures leg was injured, which is worrying. I did leave a comment earlier asking but there is no reply. I agree with what you also notice. In fact, there has never been a time in my long life that mounted royal guards have been necessary for the security of the monarch and family. Not necessary either for pulling heavy carriages. It's cruel for the sake of show. Same as dressage with the horses heads pulled into what is a painful position for them. The royals have more than enough land for the existing horses to be retired and live out their natural lives in peace and comfort whilst being well cared for. Tourists might like to see this but those from abroad don't pay for any of it in their taxes. I also feel the same about mounted police. Unless searching for a missing person in woods or fields, there is absolutely no need for police to be mounted on anything except a motorcycle. So many charities against animal cruelty and not one challenges or even criticises the misuse of horses in these ways. It's horrendous and unjustifiable in this day and age. Heck, how often are the royals even in those residences? Hardly ever. Best wishes.

I’m not British and it’s STRESSING me out!! 😵‍💫Those poor horses tossing their head about. Anything from their saddles, pain to the fitting of the bits in their mouths are stressing them out.
