This is not a song. It is a beating heart, a longing, a remembrance, a tribute, a rare gem.

And now a GRAMMY recipient and long overdue!!! SO happy for the one and only BC.
Brandy is one of the most incredible singer/songwriters! She defines music...
Being a current country fan means wading through a sea of crap to find stuff like this. And it turns out to be worth it.

That's the truth, I'm almost 70 and listen to country for years, especially being an OTR Trucker, but this new country is far from being country, but this is country.
Brandy is the best singer-songwriter of her generation. She should be a millionaire because she's a million times better than those who are.
Love this artist.. she is the real deal.. no fluff just an amazing musician ❤️❤❤ been listening to her for years
Lost my dad when I was 15, just lost my precious momma and best friend in June. Feel like I’m reliving losing my dad all over again, and the pain cuts deep! 😢
If you're not shedding a tear after hearing this, you aren't human.
Love everything about Brandy’s music and this song hits home.
In November, Dad will have been gone 50 years. He was so young... so was I...

that's a pain that never goes away. God knew how to hurt me so he took my father.
I lost my dad a couple of years ago. This song works well because it captures that feeling of helplessness when you lose a parent. rock on Brandy.
For me this is a remembrance of my grandfather
Brilliant song and very clever how this is not just about losing a loved one but the loss of a small town. Brandy is imo One of the greatest Songwriters
❤❤This respect and remembrance of a love one❤❤🙏🙏
A conversation with a loved one who left us too early. I have these same conversations with my husband, too.
Tugs at my heartstrings EVERY time!

Ben ♥ Nashville UK here too :)
Is this the perfect combination of storytelling, pathos, melody & passion? I think it is. It's also sensitively shot. "Since You've Gone To Heaven' should become a classic. Songwriting at its best.
This is such a beautiful song by one of the worlds great songwriters.
This is my fav. The Dude❤
I lost my father this year, and this song is perfect. Thanks Brandy. You are the best.

Beautiful song, thank you.
If anyone ever, wanted to showcase an example of lyric writing at it's absolute best ... this would have to be it.

I literally had to 'take a knee' the first time I heard this...
In the official version, the first chorus reads "the broken pieces of the family you made," but the second chorus replaces that with "the broken pieces of the Norman Rockwell days," an absolutely luminous line. For those who don't know Norman Rockwell was an illustrator who painted highly idealized versions of American life during the 40s, 50s and 60s. We indeed live in the broken pieces of those days which never really existed in the first place.

Andy Peace ...that's simply not true. While the whole country wasn't that of a Rockwell painting, those days did exist in many places. I know - I experienced them.

Norman Rockwell's art was actually caricatures based on real people of the small town of Stockbridge in Western Massachusetts and were featured in the Saturday Evening Post. Norman's and Brandy's artwork will both be considered as unique American treasures.
One of my favorites! To hear it live is even more amazing!!
Love this song!
LuV U BRANDY!
Since you've gone to heaven, I don't like coming home But I can't stand the thought of mom in that big house alone She can't keep it up, she really oughta sell Oh that house without you in it Is nothing but a shell Since you've gone to heaven The whole world's gone to hell Everybody says that Billy is looking more and more like you But he won't talk about you until he's had a few He dropped out of college, he's in and out of jail Had to pawn a pocket watch last month to post his bail Since you've gone to heaven The whole world's gone to hell And I hate you had to leave us Glad you didn't live to see this Broken pieces of the family you made Mama's looking so much older Baby brother can't stay sober I bet you're rolling over in your grave Since you've gone to heaven They shut the salt mill down Guys you worked for 30 years with have all gone out of town There's signs in every storefront Seems like everything's for sale They say the markets bouncing back, but it's sure hard to tell Since you've gone to heaven The whole world's gone to hell And I hate you had to leave us Glad you didn't live to see this Broken pieces of the Norman Rockwell lakes The banks are taking over Half the town is in foreclosure I bet you're rolling over in your grave Since you've gone to heaven I've struggled with goodbye And broke a lot of promises I made the day you died Wish I was more like you Less like myself And I wish that I could talk to you cause I could use your help Since you've gone to heaven The whole worlds gone to hell Since you've gone to heaven

My dad played Bass guitar in a band she was in before she got famous, in the small town of Morton in Washington State. She is not only a Queen of country music but she is also a super beautiful person inside and out, very down to earth and so very kind. She is everything that is good about music.
Is there anyway I can get in touch with Brandy and send her lyrics of a few songs I've done. I bet she will definitely get back one she listen to my songs. One of the best songwriters in the industry
