Brandon Beane: 2024 Draft Class - Potential For Keon Coleman, Excitement For Cole Bishop

Спорт

Bills GM Brandon Beane joined One Bills Live to recap the 2024 draft class. He talked about what he was looking for in terms of traits and character in the players selected and the decisions made to trade back instead of up in the the draft. He went on to discuss Keon Coleman's untapped potential, why second round pick Cole Bishop was so intriguing, and the transition of the roster following the draft. Finally, he discussed some of the later round picks and the recent signing of former Lions WR Quintez Cephus.

Keon at FSU was a favorite, especially to parents of young kids who bleed garnet and gold. He was always such a great young man to any kid who asked for his autograph. He didn't go out to the College parties and drink. So you made time for kids . Such a special guy in today's world. Yes, I typed that right, he doesn't drink.. he is 100% football

You're missing the point. Coleman's speed was the reason why some people didn't like him and Beane's point was that he plays faster than he times. That's been the case with alot of WR's. Coleman's 40 times is almost identical to Puka's and he looks fast on the field. Jerry Rice's 40 times was atrocious but yet when he got in the open field nobody could catch him.

This is just me, but if I draft players, I want to see them get legitimate shots to prove themselves. Training camp isn’t always enough. And that’s why some of these late bloomers don’t make the team, then they get poached by your rival, and they show out for another team in your face after you drafted them!! It’s Ok to bring in a rookie or one-year pro a couple snaps a game to get them valuable opportunities to show what they’ve learned. And if a significant injury hurdle presents itself in-season, then you take necessary measures (free agency, trades, etc.).

By trading back twice (5 total spots), Beane still grabbed the WR he wanted, while adding a net gain of about 60 spots forward (moving from 4th to 3rd, 5th to 4th, etc) overall. AND, most importantly, by grabbing Keon in the 2nd round they will go from having to pay him 12 mil, to about 8-9 mil, saving almost 4 million by taking him a few spots later. Yeah, they lose his fifth year option, but the Bills are in a cap restricted spot right now, and the overall value they gained was well worth it, imho. Hope this helps!!!

He did not participate in any of the other events, which show quickness/agility etc, at the combine or his pro day. I wonder why. They ignore the same Next Gen Stats athleticism grade of 66 which is labeled as average. And his athleticism rank amongst the other WR's at the combine per Next Gen Stats is 35th. Josh will no doubt elevate his play, I guess we will have to see how he is used, how he performs, etc with time. I'm leaning on him being a productive #2 or #3 this year, but, being behind Curtis Samuel and Khalil Shakir in what I anticipate will be a Dalton Kincaid focused offense, ...lends me to believe that he will have the space to develop without too much pressure to put up. #OffTopic : Brandon Beane do you think The Pegula Family would consider allowing fans have to buy ownership in The Buffalo Bills, maybe 2% of the 25%? This amazing idea came from my sister Buffalo born raised Mrs. Yvonne Baker. I think it's a brilliant idea & I hope it's considered. Tyvm 🦬 💸💵 🏈 🥰

Beane's just playing game to sell tickets. He know's this team isn't a playoff team & it's all his fault they have no money.
