I'm an American but so love that you guys did this challenge. So many people always believe that branded is better but it simply isn't true. In my own personal taste tests I've had similar results in that sometimes brands do taste a little better but the dupes are so similar it just isn't worth paying the extra for just the brand name. So while there are a few brands I still buy I'm always looking for new dupes that get it right, lol. The dupes win more often than not so it is at least worth the effort to keep trying, to keep looking, if you're interested in saving money. Love the channel and will keep watching. Another great video! It's interesting that most of the products are red. One of the things I remember learning at school is that red catches our eye more than any other colour, so brands like coke made their products red so we see theirs first, therefore there's a higher chance of us buying it

Are the cakes vegan?

I am in Australia and have shopped at Aldi for years. Very few products I would not buy. Some products can not be bought with sugar, only artificial sweetener. I don't like taste or health risk with artificial rubbish. I would guess I save 33% or about that at Aldi. Happy Customer.

It's called brand imitation, and it's not illegal, but it is a very fine line to tread. The key to this strategy is to have just enough difference in packaging, branding, and ingredients to avoid a lawsuit, which is called comparative advertising

That was a vlog in itself just guessing the original name of Aldi dupes!!😆😆

A video idea could be a time challenge video. You use a time generator to tell you how much time you have to get all your items e.g., 1-10 minutes and then another generator to decide which meal its for e.,g breakfast, lunch or dinner. You could also add set budgets or specific supermarkets if you want to make it more challenging. I think something like this would be fun to watch!

Definitely better tastes from liddle n Aldi ,depend on people tastebuds ,also used to buying branded products ,before other shops took over 😊

The heinz is the same here in Australia, only its called tomato sauce. Same colours and same looking bottle

I don't like regular ketchup. Not from Heinz, not from any other brand, except the unsweetened ones or the ones with 50% less sugar and less salt. I don't know why, but I've never really liked regular ketchup. I really like the Curry ketchup.

The Bramwells sauce and the Belmont spread are staples at my flat! Absolutely love Aldi for those products!!! The Belmont spread is even better than Biscoff and I LOVE Biscoff! Actually, Actileaf and Cucina pasta sauce are staples for me too... haha!

You guys are brilliant .. thanks for posting and letting us all be involved .. from leeds england uk . Yet another exoensive city but not as bad as living in London. Also remember allot of things are made in the same factory but go to different sections of the factory for labelling. . I know this as my friend use to work for princes factory and they made Ben shaws but also Morrisons and Tesco own branded things and that was in the early 00s

I love Aldi ketchup and I love there mayonnaise and it's alot cheaper than the branded stuff

Great video just shows that branded isn’t always best and the cost is out or reach for a lot in this day and age

I've had some of the alde biscuits, the beans ARE Good . The cereal is quite good .someone told me sometime a GO, the branded thing are made in the same factory. BUT different department's, TAKE care and all the best. 😄😄😄👍👍👍 take care and all the best jojo 👍👍

Did you check the ingredents of the gravy granuls. Aldi say they use 1% of beef in it. sorry to tell you this but as Vegans you should look more closely at what you buy. Thank you for most interesting vlogs. I think Jojo is amazing.

I got the dupe aldi cookies which are like maryland i think they are called and they was only around 60p for a big pack and so much nicer!

It's only illegal if it's likely to mislead customers into thinking it's the original product. The point of a trademark is, after all, to protect the brand - to not have some other company's substandard products hurt the image of your own. Usually, the packaging is close enough that you know what they're copying but not so similar that you're going to be confused about whether it's the brand name product or a dupe. It's a bit of a fine line and there actually have been some lawsuits but Aldi is generally quite good at not crossing that line.

Should of done blind taste test to see if can tell which is which x

Hello 🙂 In Germany we have many Discounters ( Aldi , Lidl , Netto , Penny , Norma ...) and in Germany it's a open Secret that the Dupes come from the same Factory as the Branded products.There are even Books you can buy or Websites you can look at that tells you exactly which Dupe comes from which Company.i don't know if it's the same in the UK.

Not live but from Birmingham and tbh when jojo turns 13 you can take him to army cadets. It teaches you various skills and even lets you do feild craft. But great video and hope you are well

I always go to aldi but haven’t noticed how many dupes they are (and loads are vegan), like Katie said..how do they get away with it because I remember there was an issues a few years ago with Aldi’s “caterpillar” cake vs M&S ones So glad JoJo is enjoying his school /camp. Great comparison video, I find the Lidl version of plain Pringles much better too. 😁💚 On a side note I was just back in the UK for a week, staying in a hotel I got a craving for a Pot Noodle but I couldn't find any that were vegan as they all contained milk powder, I tried three different supermarkets with no luck on any variety, so disappointing! 😕🌱🥣

Some of the Aldi products are made by well.known manufacturers. There was a incident a couple of years ago of a Hoops 6 pack of crisps containing Hula Hoops branded bags by mistake. Sent to a Aldi.

Hi Linda, thanks for your comment. I don't think UK products tend to have soybean oil as an ingredient, so that's probably a no. We try and avoid palm oil, but some products may have sunflower oil 😊

They get away with the dupes because quite often the company making the dupe is also making the branded product just to slightly different specifications. At the start of the year people were finding bags of actual KP Hoola Hoops in their Snickright Loops multi pack. Turns out they are both made by KP

Is it me or does Katie sound like she’s got a cold or getting one…also I love Aldi’s products especially crisps(prawn cocktail)and my sons love the snack noodles from there too…. I prefer fruits and vegs from Aldi’s though.

Just have to say you was duped with the pot noodle as the king size is basically a normal pot noodle in a king size pot
