This is the brand new warbird from Hangar 9. This is the P-47 thunderbolt PNP rc airplane. With a 54.8" wingspan, which is big in our opinion, is actually "fun size" for this brand who typically focuses on giant scale. Lets maiden this rc airplane and see how it performs!

    When you don't have as3x and safe, you find out what kinda pilot you are. I think you should do yourself a big favor and NOT put the assist on that plane. It looked like it flew great. Imo, those crutches you rely on so much are holding you back from honing the basic skills you used them to learn. You can't say you've mastered an airplane if you're not really flying it. A few more flights and you'll have a solid handle on that thing. You gotta step out of your comfort zone, as you put it, to progress and learn. You're doing great! Thanks for all y'all do. Best wishes.

    Horizon used to make tons of these balsa PNP models about 10 years ago! My first balsa plane was an E-flite PNP Mini Ultra Stick, assembled in less than 10 minutes with no glue! My advice on smoothing out your flying is to work on mastering the basics of radio setup; dual rates, expo, flap to elevator mixing (if applicable), and throttle curve (on gas planes) can make all the difference in the world. Especially on a faster warbird, a little expo can help the plane seem less "twitchy" and fly more scale, on 3D and aerobatic planes with more available throw, dual or triple rates combined with expo is the key. With proper setup, your plane will fly better and your nerves will calm down. Keep up the great content!

    Setting up SAFE is so easy. Thats why I use AR630 receivers in everything now. I thought for sure you were gonna prang this thing. Its impressive that bounce didnt mess it up. I think its gonna fly better with a 6S. It was kind of floaty on 4s and the extra weight of a 6S I've watched 2 or 3 assembly videos of this plane now, and every one of them has a problem with the motor, cowl, mounts, etc. Theres something weird going on with the airframe at the factory. QC isnt catching problems.

    Good job Nate!, back in the day (37 years ago), that is all they had was balsa plane kits, now they have a lot of options, but now that I'm retired at 57yrs old I'm getting back into the hobby and I have purchased 4 plane's which are foam, and 1 balsa a 64'' Mustang which is last in the cue to be built because your right it will take me several months to complete, but its all very exciting and fun and I recommend the hobby to people when ever a chance a rises, B-Blessed!

    I am currently building an electric version of the Sig Somethin Extra. I am about 2 months in, wings and fuse built, and ready for final sanding, wheel pants finished. I have to work out the cowl, and try to hit the c/g without adding weight. As builds go, it isn't too difficult, pieces fit well, nice plans, and instructions. Lots of small details to attend to. Things like waiting for paint and glue to dry hold me up. If you have the room, and the time, go for it.

    I like the size it's easier to transport, I own some balsa planes they fly great but yeah definitely something that needs all your attention, no one likes picking up splinters My question which Hanger 9 model do you like best ? the 47 or the 19.

  • @rafaeltorres2886
    @rafaeltorres28862 жыл бұрын

    I like it, the size is right for transport. Wow very sensitive elevator maybe a little less throws or move the c/g little forward. good landing nothing broken. I have put together three balsa kits and I'm working on my fourth I know what your talking about the plastic engine insert to composite cowl believe it or not use Loctite shoe glue its sticky and it sets fast after a couple hours it dries clear.

    used to make a brass prop spinner in that style which would add nose weight for the 4s battery. IF you could find a Great Planes PT40 Balsa Kit ,only challenge would be converting to electric, as they where made for glow fuel motors .but it was a good first build .be prepared to spend 2 weeks of building time.

    Did you move your servo rods to the inner position on the servos, and the connection on the elevator flap to the hole closest to the flap? By adjusting those you can have more elevator, allowing inverted flight. Same goes for ailerons and rudder, allowing more movement and more stunts. Watch out with the ailerons, they rarely need more movement for beginners. I have a mini mustang on wich I put the rods on maximum and it does everything except hovering.

    Warbirds can be super easy to fly. That being said, taildragger warbirds are going to be the most difficult models you will ever find. This is because landing these is different for every plane. If you aren't comfortable trying it and maybe failing, I'd recommend a tricycle gear warbird or a taildragger high-wing plane that is not just a beginner plane (such as the Skynetic Bison from MotionRC). That all said, it is never a bad idea to start taildragger warbirds on RealFlight or with foam warbirds.

    Setup of this thing. 1: Glue everything even if using 4S 2: Balance the wings (this is a must) mine were so far out of balance. You can see this model was the same dropping the right wing. 3: 85mm CG 4: Setup and use flaperons for landing 35% 5: Fly it fast and don't slow down. 6: Only for grass airfields change wheels to 2 3/4" to stop the nose over. 7: Thank me and enjoy.

    RTF - Ready To Fly - Comes with everything you need to fly it. Most of the time with a battery and all, but always good to double check. BNF - Bind and Fly - Needs battery and transmitter. Benefit of this is saving money in the long run by owning one or two battery types that work on multiple RCs as well as one universal radio. PNP - Plug and Play - needs all of the above as well as your own receiver in case you fly on a different brand. ARF - Almost Ready to Fly - A little misleading honestly. Needs work putting it together. Usually the plane is mostly built, but needs electronics. Kit - comes in hundreds of pieces and needs built and all components! I hope this helps sort things out. @@TheRcSaylors I’m the same with all my foamies, fly with 100% rates but my bigger balsa planes need rates and expo dialled in to get the most out of the flight characteristics. It’s not a foamie so don’t treat it like one there is more fine tuning to do here!

    Also does look like it could be slightly tail heavy so I would try moving forward slightly to see what happens. Should continue to fly level after cutting the throttle

    @@TheRcSaylors yeah but the damn thing is way twitchy roll rate. Thus the reason why you were so nervous. You would have to dual rate down the ailerons. If you don’t want to modify it I would suggest dialing in the radio flaparons. Gotta slow that thing down for both take off and landings otherwise it looks too sketchy to fly when you’re looking to have a relaxing day of flying. You had me nervous, your lady nervous, you nervous, AMA nervous Lol.
