I love opertunistic introductions of RC to kids. A few weeks back, I had gotten the Smoke Drift Tank (Ripsaw) out and was playing with it in the front yard when a neighbourhood day care for preschool kids walked by, and of course, they were all fascinated by the tank! So I turned the rate down to the lowest, and asked the person who runs the day care if she would allow the kids to try it. She said yes, and then asked who would like to try running it...and, of course, they all did. So each of the 5 kids, rating from about 4 to a year and a half tried it, and they all left with smiles on their faces! It made their day, and putting smiles on kids faces made my day, too!

Such an awesome example at 4:59 Was loving the video but when you shared the experience and made some RC memories with strangers, 🎉. That could be the moment that family has their whole future changed to include RC ❤️

I love handing the radio over to kids ❤️ the smile on their face as they walk away with their parents talking about picking one up and super excited about a new hobby they knew nothing about a few minutes before.

I got rid of my Traxxas boat and bought a Sonic wake because I wanted a boat that was self-writing I highly recommend it It sounds amazing on 6S

Nate we put hocky tape over the seams to keep water out , all my boats are not standard upgrades in all things , thanks for sharing a good boat

I have to agree with that. Personally, for the way we like to drive, that’s one of their best boats! You just can’t beat a boat with self righting that’s also a good size and perfect speed 👍💯😎⚓️

I’ve had this boat a few days now. I’ve got it running mid 70’s on 6s. The design totally works for “saw runs” (straightaway) speed runs. It rides on the rear flat of the strut and the stuffing box and lifts totally out of the water. It doesn’t turn well though because of that. I’m really happy with the boat once I figured that out. Should be in the 80’s soon.

You can't make a self righting multihull, That's for monohulls only. Try to flip over a square football vs a regular one.

Smooth water (glass) and ride only on the outdrive. Ty guys.

"Rough water, and wind gusts, aren't best friends. It would be nice to see, what this does on calm water. My Black jack 24 gets real squirrely under these conditions. Are you running a stock prop? I bumped up to a TFL .438. It lays the boat down better, than the stock prop. I also went to a 120 AMP ESC. And, I find the electronics stay cool. Does the boat also come in black, like it's big brother? PRO Boat did a really nice job on it's new boats. THE Recoil 2 was completely redesigned. "THE HEAT WAVE." 18 is a little " little rocket. Stock is running at 35 mph. With a prop bump .433 . it clocks in at 43 mph. Cool little boat. Tons of attitude. I think, you would have a great time with it. It's also a great training boat. Self-right, and can be dialed down. Thanks for all your hard work, and I really enjoy your videos. -Mark-

I actually have the newer recoil 2 in the heatwave version, 18' it rips for a boat under 200 bucks. Also sounds like a normal recoil. It skips an makes waves plus it flys

My first serious bout with high performance RC boats was in 1989 I built a kyosho deep vee , at the regotta / race I out classed all the other boats and was already trying to figure out where I would put that big trophy ..When IT appeared a hi performance catamaran...and after being out run out turned an out of a 1st place trophy I learned 🏆 the catamaran hull is a proven winner .if you want speed and stability nothing runs like a cat 🐱 🙏

Only negative is that you can't make it self righting. So if you flip it it'll stay flipped until saved.

Hi Sailers, the 24 could be covered by making a circular 21 sticker or a circular Power Patch sticker, or remove 24 sticker and replace with a 21 sticker or Power Patch whatever is easiest and looks best.

Where’s the water exits for the cooling? Cant seem to find them and slightly disappointed they didn’t do side exits with it. Always gotta be on the look out for good water flow out of the exits to make sure there isn’t any cooling issues while running.

Hello Saylors, another great video thanks. Just a small inquiry from me. Could you please give the usable size of the battery tray in mm length and width. Then I can get batteries before boat arrives. Thank you. Love all the plane videos too.

Could you mount your GPS unit on the race type boats? Seal top plastic bag etc...... Be good for comparisons between boats. Cheers !

Not going to lie - I went AHHH thinking that boat was going to smash into the dock. You're brave for loaning out the boat. A truck/car is one thing but crashing a boat I can only imagine. Great review, but I ordered the 42 of this boat instead. Gotta have 6s! 😅

Nice & fast. It's good to share the Hobbie. Though not sure the boat dad is as happy, because the kids were probably going can we get a boat dad, please-please can we😊. ALL THE WAY HOME 😂😂. The reason they don't have self-writing is so that you don't get lazy when you driving so you don't get complacent with just being able to flip it right back over you got to drive it correctly or else you're going swimming that's why they do it it's a good trainer for if you want to go to a race and erase your boat Love you guys peace out

Cool but for the price i know its HH/Spektrum and they do over price big boy toys because they know we have the money sense of a 7year old 😅.. But no Recovery mode no chance £400 😮

Very cool of you to let the kids try, but i would keep the throttle all the way down, IMO...they were getting pretty squirrelly next to their own boat. Theres a lot of nuts that would freak out if their shiny bass boat got dinged by an RC lol. Great content as always!

Each kid definitely drove a little differently. If we had more time, I would have started each one at 50% for sure and worked up depending on skill level. Good advice for sure 👍💯⚓️

I think all high end boat should have FPV similar to a Dji drone. The experience would be so much nicer and better user experience

I believe it’s mainly due to the waves. When we got there, the lake was pure glass. Then of course as soon as these batteries are plugged in we get a little wind. 😬😅⚓️

@@TheRcSaylors It ran nice and level when Nate first ran it, so I suspect that the slightly odd behaviour when Abby ran it was due to the water in the hull throwing the balance off.

If you’re running IC3 with a 2s, you’re doing it wrong. The only things in 1/10 scale that can be adequately powered by ic3 are brushed. Ic5 is basically a requirement for a 3s brushless system. Maybe a crawler brushless system would be ok but not a basher. All the arrma 3s and 4s trucks use ic5. You could easily use those two packs in a kraton 4s

Needs a little trimming out , suspect the prop should be adjusted down 2mm if it has the rear slot ( couldnt see the transom ?) or lipos forward can help reduced that horrible nodding and spinning out .

@@darkiee69 lve never seen Nat trim out a hull yet , and they seem to preset them nose up from the get go. He wouldnt think of not trimming a plane to show it at its best.

@@darkiee69 Ive been moulding hulls for 40 years plus , so tend to only look at very fine set up details , but it looks like the lipos are all the way forward and she still rides 3 degrees nose up . This would induces spin outs , so prop down 2mm , then look at lipios back a few mm, so she is level through the turns . This would be more of a race set up for pro racers. .

Atomic sr85 is a 4s self righting cat. The rc sailors didn't have a good time with theirs, but my brothers has been going awesome for over a year.

I never let some random people drive my stuff. They don't know what they are doing and don't care about your stuff. My nerves were shot watching this video.

I was arms reach away if I ever felt like the boat was operating outside of anything but safe and fun. I can definitely relate to how you feel though. I felt similarly until my 30s or so, then something clicked and “things” for me started meaning way less and it turned into more of sharing the experience. Don’t get me wrong, as I’ve got some things I definitely wouldn’t be as comfortable sharing if it had more sentimental value to me! 💯⚓️

Can somebody help me out with some general RC info please? I go out in the wilderness sometimes and would like to have cameras I can take with me to set to watch trails that might be a few hundred to maybe a1000 yards away from me. Security cameras don’t work for this because there’s no wifi network out there. I was thinking I could just set my mavic mini drone out there on a rock or something but it’s kinda big and pricey to be packing out and leaving laying around in the desert. So any suggestions about some cheap RC stuff that might work for that? Thanks in advance.

Cheap FPV camera and monitor, run off small batteries and might work good for your need

This is a pretty high performance boat, but the self righting is a nice feature for a lot of people! We’ve got some great self righting boats on our channel, and more to come this week as well! 👍💯😎⚓️

Glad I waited to get another boat and just upgrade my little WL915-A. I'm definitely getting this one in the Heatwave livery. I love the 80s race boat vibe 🚤💨

No self-righting in such an expensive boat is Deal Breaker :/ And the difficulty to change batteries.

Great boat but who wants to buy more batteries just to run it. Catamarans will never self right. They require 2 batteries one on each side to balance the boat. Love boat week just not this one. The batteries suck.

Two batteries= more power more speed. I have a $40 Walmart boat with paint stir sticks screwed to the front of it as a recovery boat. 2 batteries rock 🤟

It’s super stable in straight line runs. I can run flat out in the 70’s without touching the wheel.
