About the forehead ribbon, there's a part at the very end of the book where Wei Ying accuses Lan Wangji of consumating their relationship before they could worship heaven and earth together aka get married to which Lan Zhan replies by saying that I have long considered myself to have been married to you. Guess he was referring to the forehead ribbon ❤

So glad the producers of The Untamed could read LWJ and figure out exactly why he fell in love with WWX without explicit perspective from MXTX. It made their love story in the drama come to life in spite of censorship! The ribbon tidbit is hilarious! Also, I'm glad she's fine and doing well. I had no news of her and honestly was very concerned about her safety.

I have been an avid reader forever, and her book are some of the best I have ever read. It's so detailed and the characters a so deeply thought it's beautiful. And deeply satisfying to read bc it's complete and not missing anything. However I would love a book on the juniors adventures, Jiang Cheng, and xue yang.

So is that why lan wangji got mad when Wei ying touched his ribbon?

I loved this interview, but I'm way happier to get any kind of update from her. A lot of the community thought she may be in prison and were worried sick

As someone who writes fanfiction and is in the midst of writing one which is 100k words which i expect will take a year at least to conplete, 15 month for triple the amount I'm expecting myself to write is so impressive. And throughout uni as well!!!! I have a new role model now.

I wish she would write a short (or full would be awesome!) about Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan. I would love to see his spirit begin to come back (or fully!), but even just more back story would be cool, like pre-Untamed era.

She's the author so arguably what an author says goes. However, what she actually wrote is that LWJ fell in love with WWX at around 16 and he fell because WWX teased him pretty much the same way his mother did, for LWJ teasing is the language of love. Stuff about freedom makes less sense.

I don't think the interview argues against that though, it's just stating he was attracted early. Him also possibly wanting less constrictive rules wouldn't change him falling at 16. It can be more than one thin that builds to the main reason

​@Darla Day oh, absolutely true that there can be more than 1 thing... freedom though? Do you honestly see it in the books that LWJ wants freedom from his responsibilities? How is it shown then? He literally does the same things when they are together that he did before. And they don't even actually elope, they come back to Gusu, LWJ practically takes over with LXC in seclusion and WWX becomes the quirky teacher. Want of freedom is definitely not smth that I can describe LWJ character with. But maybe you have an example for me?

Personally, I never came to the conclusion that LWJ fell in love with WWX because of the similarity in the way WWX and his mother treated him. (But that is a very interesting perspective) I think that is more an interpretation than "what (MXTX) actually wrote". In my own opinion, the reasons LWJ developped feelings for WWX are complex, and many.
