The one thing that bugged me which made me never really pick up the first one was the first impression of the character art (not the pixel battle sprites which look amazing), and it's the sole thing which I personally notice with a lot of indie games, but it's the facial feature proportions, and shading which seems off. One example in this video is Zenele's forehead, which seems ok if she were bald, but then her hair is just stacked on top, making everything above hear eye level feel unnaturally tall, and her face extremely low on her head. I'm really hoping as someone on the arts team, you can use this feedback, because this is what most of us will see when we first come across your game and is your forefront advertising material. Getting constructive criticism from other artists in regards to proportions and shading should make a world of difference for your marketing, especially when faces (and hands) are concerned as they typically stand out the most. In either case I'll grab both I and II as I love what you guys are doing, but felt like constructive criticism can only make your games better. :)

I just beat Dark Deity after a long gap of not playing. It’s fun, but I felt like I didn’t need the story to finish playing. I’m hoping this one plays well with a good story, and it’s looking like it will so far. I’m pretty hyped!

Holy cow this looks so good! I love the really slick GBA Fire Emblem style combat animations, they're so much more dynamic and bombastic than the 3D FE animations. I'd never heard of this series, so thank you so much for highlighting this. I've got it wishlisted and followed on Steam now.

You can try out the first game when it goes on sale. Its a fun time, tho it does turn into a slog near the end. I used to feel the same way about 3D vs 2D animations, but FE Engage did such an amazing job with the animations that i didnt think was possible with 3D

I had fun with the game. That loading time made me want to push my head through a wall and yeah was buggy, but all and all had fun. I'm getting this the second it hits

Dark Deity II looks pretty fun. Gave the first one a try but it was a bit too rough for me. I'll pick this one up for sure.

Y’know what’d be a funny gag? If Faust came back and he hasn’t aged in time with the game world but how long it took for this game to release after the first one.

This sounds good! If it comes to switch later then I think I’ll get it, I can’t get it on anything else lol. But I’m very interested in it and I hope it does well

For the ALGORITHM

Looks like a lot of fun.

I remember shelving DD1 after a week or so because of the rapid number of balance patches. Maybe they were necessary but it was extremely frustrating to play for a bit, go to sleep, go to work, come home and some of the characters I'd invested resources in didn't work as they did the previous day. This happened to me several times. When I cam back to it I remember another annoyance being the game constantly throwing squads of new characters at me every chapter or two that were higher level and oftentimes just better than the guys I already had. I found that it was making it hard to care about any of my units. I'm going to keep an eye on DD2 but I don't know if I'm going to rush to immediately buy it on release like I did with the first one.

I really like the first Dark Deity but I really didn't like the weapon management, I would rather have standard equipment than that. I hope they change that in this one!

I hope this comes to the switch because I enjoyed the first one

Fingers crossed, it's a great platform for it.

While I’m not a fan of the GBA health bar stuff (DD1’ “potion” health bars look much better to me), I’m still looking forward to this game. I just finished DD1 a few weeks ago and am playing other games in the mean time.

This looks tbh more promising and i see the improvements. I couldn't really get into dark deity 1. It felt unfinished and sluggish to me. Even if i found the ideas interesting

When will this game come out for the switch

Probably a year after release, that's around when the first one moved to switch after launch.

I was very bothered by the transition screens of the first game.

Slightly… disappointed by your take on the first game. They put out an unfinished game (the maps in the latter half were clearly still placeholders) with a ton of issues, but instead of addressing any of them they just put out a crappy DLC to try to milk more money out of it. Game was 5/10 in the end. I will 100% be waiting for a decent amount of user reviews before buying this one.

Personally, i enjoyed my time with that game a lot more than i did with other games at the same price. We dont get a lot of srpgs like FE and this was actually one of the fun ones. Its sad that it gets this kinda hate, but personally im happy the dev team didnt take comments like these to heart and continued working to develop their skills into a new game

Not everybody will bash on the game just because that’s the cool thing to do. The world is not a hivemind and games impact people differently.
