is the tip held firmly within the iron? heard the hs01 does not hold the tip firmly and can come loose with little force

Hi, well in my case it hanged in there firmly. Maybe with normal usage it might get loose, but for that I have to use it a lot more than this test for the review 😁 The HS-01 will always be secure IF when installing a new tip, the instruction are correctly followed. Let me explain, the FNIRSI tip has a kind of ring that will secure the tip with a screw thingy that you have to use, so first you unscrew the retention part, put the tip and then screw again that retention part over the tip and that ringy thing, if you do this correctly, not even with a plier you can take it out. Thanks for watching.

Its too bad you didn't test the USB power plug for volts/amp test, lots of time they sell a 100W USB when if you test it, its more like 20W. If that is the case, the slow heat-up time or 10seconds should be more like 4 seconds if you used a different power supply. That's what I'm thinking. Not enough amps.

Hi Jeff, It's not on the video, it was me playing around, but I tested with the 65W delivered with the HS-01 and connected also to my Rigol DP831 power supply 20V/3A and no difference. Now that you talk about it, it will be a neat thing to have on the video, sorry for this fail. Thanks for watching.

HI, found out that after the video, FNIRSI is nor very clear on this, but model B uses 245 and model A uses the 210 tips. Thanks for watching.

Hi, the T245 should be enough for that kind of work. T245 is more for the everyday work, while T210 is more dedicated to soldering very small components and only an example, can be used to solder 0402 smd components. Thanks for watching.

@iblackfeathers Thank you for clearing that out. I did ask to FNIRSI, but the answer was related with the tips (they're right) but sent me a photo of the tips head like the K, KU, I, B, C2, and so on, but didn't clarify that we had a different model of tips. So glad you were able to clarify this. It was my initial suspicion, for different T245 tips you'll don't need a different solder iron model. Thanks for watching.

With some luck you can find a station supports C210 and C245 for a very low price (Yahua 982 for example, not the 982-II). But's it is not a portable.

It's a pretty lame soldering iron. Where're the 65W? Even a very cheap Quicko T75 performs better and has no stupid animation- due to a missing display ;-). (edited: typo) Second edit: It performed very well in the “SDG Electronics” test. Apparently there is a problem with your setup or copy.

  • @TechCornerTV

Hi, lame is a bit harsh and I think Quicko T75 uses the T12 tips, on the same tips the HS-01 has very nice performance. If I have something to point out, is just the time it takes to get to the temperature, it is accurate, but take a bit more than I was expecting. Thanks for watching.

@@TechCornerTV Sorry, but something was very wrong with your setup. Either the USB tester causes some issues, the power supply, USB cable or the iron you received itself is screwed. Take a look at SDG Electronics review and peak power draw. With a known good supply he measured up to 80W on high thermal demand boards and the coin test.

  • @maebeans

i believe the power limit was 13% when he first turned it on, perhaps that's the issue?

it's a 100w iron and it was drawing about 16w during the test, which is consistent with the power limit being set wrong

У меня после первого использования сломалась кнопка "ок" и теперь нажимается 1/5 - 1/10 раз как повезет ... Power - надо ставить 95% хотя бы у вас стоит 13% вы его поменяли ?
