Brand-New ETS Railway Station! - Travelling On A KTM Train To Southern Region of Malaysia
The newest KTM ETS (Electric Train Service) railway station is the Bukit Chagar station in Johor Bahru. This station is part of the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project, which aims to enhance connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore. The station will serve as a key terminal for travelers crossing the border, offering seamless transit between the two countries.
The Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP) from Gemas to Johor Bahru involves upgrading the existing single-track railway line to a double-track and electrifying it.This project will significantly improve the rail infrastructure and services in this region.
The key stations included in the Gemas to Johor Bahru section are:
1.Gemas
2.Segamat
3.Bekok
4.Paloh
5.Kluang
6.Renggam
7.Layang-Layang
8.Kulai
9.Kempas Baru
10.Johor Bahru Sentral
These stations will see improved facilities and services once the EDTP is fully operational, enhancing connectivity and travel efficiency in southern Peninsular Malaysia.
In this video our train travel journey will start from Segamat, so I will explain briefly about this town.
Segamat is a town and district located in the north of state of Johore in Malaysia, bordering two other states of Malaysia. It is located roughly 172 km from johor Bahru, the capital city of Johore State. It is 95 km travel distance via North-South Expressway from Johor Bahru to Yong Peng. Segamat is renowned for its durian, often referred to as the "King of Fruits." This region's fertile soil and favorable climate make it an ideal location for cultivating high-quality durians.
To travel from Segamat to JB Sentral, you have several options available.
If you choose to travel by train, you can board a KTM Intercity train from the Segamat Railway Station. This train will take you directly to JB Sentral, making it a convenient and straightforward option. It's advisable to check the KTM schedule for the latest timetable and to book your tickets in advance to ensure a smooth journey.
Alternatively, you can opt for an express bus. Buses from the Segamat Bus Terminal travel to Larkin Sentral in Johor Bahru. Upon arrival at Larkin Sentral, you can take a local bus or hire a taxi to reach JB Sentral. This option might take longer than the train but can be a good alternative if train schedules do not align with your plans.
My first visit to Segamat was before MCO in the year 2014, and there are still a lot of things I didn't know about Segamat. After 10 years, I'm surprised to see there are huge changes, especially the KTM Train Station in Segamat Johor. Join me everyone to explore the 5th largest town in Johor before we embark on our journey to Johor Bahru Sentral via the KTM ETS. It is said that the name of Segamat came from the expression ‘Segar amat!’ meaning ‘Very fresh!’.
Most KTM Train Stations are equipped with basic facilities like waiting areas, restrooms, and food outlets. It serves as a major interchange for passengers transferring between ETS and Intercity services. The best part is I will let you see the inside the KTM ETS Railway Station along our journey to Johor Bahru Sentral. So, don't miss this.

Correction: the Bukit Chagar station is only meant for the RTS service, that will be operated by a Prasarana (parent of RapidKL) & SMRT joint venture. It will not be operated by KTMB. Instead, the station will be linked to JB Sentral via a pedestrian bridge. Also, Segamat station is not the biggest station. The biggest station is Kempas Baru as not only does it feature a station with 6 platforms & a length as long as this Segamat station, it also features additional loopline tracks & side tracks to the depots & the branch line to Pasir Gudang.

Dulu pernah nampak kena umum perkhidmatan ETS Train ni akan beroperasi di Segamat Johor bermula 1 Julai 2024. Pelik betul masih guna KTM Intercity Train ke JB Sentral.

Was excited when I heard about the news. Thought they had extended the ETS up till Segamat (and bit by bit) but from reading the KTMB website... I am guessing they finish building and testing the new stations first, then release the ETS one shot later on. Who knows, there will be alot of people who will link from JB Sentral to KL/Ipoh/Butterworth(Penang).
Sistem pengangkutan Malaysia ni suda semakin baik. Ekonomi makin rancak lepas ni. Dijangka ramai akan menggunkan perkhidmatan ETS ni. Stesen Keretapi KTM Kempas Baru tu nampak sangat besar.

My friend I think postponed. In this video some ETS Track is still not ready especially near Kempas Baru KTM Station and JB Sentral. For now just wait and see. Hopefully all of us can ride the New ETS3 very soon.

Apa yg maju? Kereta Api Indonesia terbaik SeAsean. Google please. Ngak butuh lisrik karena dengan gunak diesel train bisa melaju 120kph. On the way to speed more than 120kph soon. Double track from Jkt to Surabaya on Northern Track and Jkt to Surabaya Southern Track. We do it phase by phase with much much less construction cost. Di Sumatra Southern Region more than 300km double track. We also have a 160kph train running in Sulawesi.
