Man i love these old master cylinders, when it comes to bench bleeding them its a breeze, i have one in my car that has a little snout and inside of the snout it has a damn plunger for the low brake fluid sensor so they are just about impossible to bench bleed by sticking hoses in them, once you try to plunge them the brake fluid goes everywhere, i do have this tool shown in the video and i love it!!

1972 Chevrolet C/10… This tool fit my brake booster and master cylinder perfectly. I replaced the brake booster on my truck. The rear brakes kept locking up on me, after I installed the new brake booster. I ordered this tool and it was delivered to me in Oregon very quickly. I checked the pushrod length initially and found, the pushrod was 3/16” too long. Giving PRELOAD to my brakes from the very start. My foot wasn’t even on the brake pedal. Therefore, I made the necessary changes to the length of the pushrod, and there is approximately a gap of .015” between the brake booster pushrod and the master cylinder piston. I’m going to reassemble everything and check to see if my REAR BRAKES are fixed. Today is November 3, 2022 and I will update my post with the final outcome of this issue within a couple days.

This is by far the single best explanation of adjusting the rod..I’m a DVET and can’t do much R&R anymore after turning a wrench for 30yrs..plus no one wanted a crippled tech..anyway I let someone build a truck for me for the first time, and they installed a 9inch booster instead of the 11 it came with ,and there’s no space for the 11 anymore..but it’s got wilwood set up, and the peddle has to be pumped twice before I get brakes , I made them bleed it twice ..I installed a vac canister , got a little better..they had to install a adapter plate for the booster to be mounted ..while it won’t effect the pin on the master I’m thinking maybe the distance from the booster and the brake peddle adjustment rod....I’m going to adjust the booster pin first ,and see if that helps ..great video..

Great video and super tool. I bought the tool to use with a Datsun 240Z I am restoring but have an aftermarket brake booster. I know your video and ads say the tool is for the 68-76 Corvette but the tool looks exactly like the one that Baer Brakes and Master Power brakes sell for twice the price and they advertise it as universal for all cars so I took a chance that your tool is the same. Just used it tonight but won't have a chance to drive the car for a week or so but I'm pretty sure it worked great.

We made this Brake Booster as per GM-Bendix prints. Dating this booster is not easy because we powder coat the cases early on in the assembly process. If we were to hold some cases back for dating, it would be a lot of work to then powder coat it and then assemble. In reference to the check valve, there are several takes on what is correct according to the NCRS manuals from 1968-76 Corvettes. You can email us at sales@cssbinc.com

@@cssbinc1 Yes. Maybe I didn't have it centered correctly on the master cylinder. The true measure for a particular vehicle hinges on the rod length in the tool. I'm not sure if the rod length specs would be the same in all vehicles (universal), for foreign and domestic cars. I'm willing to give the tool another try since I may not have correctly centered on the master cylinder. I will take a look at the measurements on Amazon. Getting this right is so important I have delayed mounting my new master cylinder on the rebuilt booster. Thanks!

I received this tool in the mail today. Can confirm using it in reverse worked for my 2008 Nissan Frontier. I flipped the round point over to the booster side. Drop the pin into the master cylinder, put the H shap to base of master cylinder, locked pin, flipped it over to master cylinder side placed H to base of booster, remaining pin showed me what I needed to cut off on booster rod. Make sure to cut short so you can leave the small gap(account for your cut wheel thickness. Work as described here just opposite sides. Nissan booster r not adjustable. I purchased wrong booster that had the downhill decent control plug or off road package. The rod was to long locking my brakes up. I tossed the box and was unable to return booster. This tool saved me 136$

Martin, We have that type pin on our "to do" list. You can have someone cut the pin in a lathe, drill and tap each cut piece and put a long thread rod with 2 nuts to tighten up when you get the right length or you can stack small washers to get the proper length. I suggest using Red loctite when you are all finished to hold tight.
