Brainstem Reflexes: Where is the lesion?

Welcome to Soton Brain Hub - the brain explained!
In this clinically focussed video we take a look at how having a good understanding of brainstem anatomy can allow you to locate the position of a lesion in the brainstem. We use a case study to explore brainstem reflexes, flexor & extensor posturing and the Babinski sign.

I was sure the lesion was in the medulla but CN 9, 10 were still present though weak. Great exposure video on how to tackle these questions. Than you so much!

Thank you Dr. UK. If it weren’t for you, I would be clueless what’s going on with me.

For vestibulo-ocular reflex, isn't it follows the mnemonic COWS (Cold Opposite side, Warm Same side)? The diagram in the video should should eye moving to side of warm water, is it correct?

I think the confusion is with what the mnemonic actually relates to. There is (the mimicking of) a head turn involved as well in this reflex.
