Braid: Time Means Nothing
Ойындар
Time waits for no man. But there is one man who breaks this rule. Some call him...Tim. Braid, created by Jonathan Blow, is a classic puzzle platformer and widely regarded as one of the best indie games. The whole game is about manipulating time as a mechanic to collect puzzle pieces. Braid may not be the first game to use this type of mechanic, but the storytelling and music in this indie game create quite the masterpiece.

This was a surprisingly poetic episode of Completionist. I appreciate how much love you showed not just the gameplay, but the tones and themes behind it. I agree that this game became such an iconic piece of gaming history, it's always stuck with me as a pretty important title. Thanks for the nostalgia trip back in time. I think I need to replay this one.
Hearing a "Hey all" without a "Scott here" is mildly depressing

Don't I know it. Braid is... important to me. In fact, it's the first game I ever bought and played on Steam. My life and attitude towards video games were changed for good. And I came to love them as a media that can entertain, tell stories, and make you think and feel.

15:01 is when I realized that song was DEFINITELY a Donkey Kong Country 2 arrangement of Jib Jig and NOT from Braid itself. But I loved how it goes hand in hand with the platformer references that you mentioned Braid is loaded with.

Game is ahead of its time with its blend of gameplay and story like you mentionned, amazing episode, love me some philosophical talk
Still say I wanna torture him and make him play Shadow the Hedgehog. I honestly think it may be the longest game to 100% while also being the most dreadful. Most missions have 3 objectives each which can get an A rank, the game tracks the order you beat the missions in so you have to play through the story 365 times to get all paths of the story listed (yes you read that right, the game really does keep track so it does count), The bosses also have to be A ranked, after getting all 10 endings (not all story paths) you got to then do the Final Story, then after you get an A rank on every mission on every level you get to do it again as it unlocks Hard Mode which has whole new A ranks for every single mission. You can't tell me there is a more dreadful 100% that exists.

The great thing about you, Jirard, is that your love for videogames always comes across in each and every one of your videos. Even if you don't like the game that much, you can still find things you enjoy about it. I never knew about Braid when it came out, so this has made me consider digging it up and having a go.
This is one of my favorite games of all time! (No pun intended) Thank you for this awesome video, Jirard.
I haven’t played Braid but I have heard consistently good reviews of it. This was by far the best review I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing!

Neat! All of the background music pieces we hear throughout this video are actually slowed-down versions of classic video game songs from his favorite games, including DKC2!
Great vid, very well done. I think you did the game justice. Liked and subscribed

Braid: Chrono Legends
This game was the first stone that kicked of the landslide of my game design interest. It made me realize games are art pieces if intended (and sometimes unintended). This game showed me how games and gaming tropes can be used to tell a story, and engage the player in a transcended manner. Really happy that you give this a showcase. It's a great games simply for how it weaves the story and immerses the player.
Excellent game and excellent episode!
That MUSIC. It's been on constantly in my playlists since playing that game. I listen to it while I go for nature walks. Its so soothing and beautiful. The game is fantastic as it is, but the music brings this game to a whole-nother level.
That 15 minutes that wasn't used was used for this episode
feels like theres a more analytical tone to this one. i like it.

Ah, a classic not lost to time.
i was thinking about filming this episode backwards but "HOUSE GODS".
The Company of Myself is another great game about time. It is a browser game where, through repeated tries, you help yourself get through puzzles.
Take a drink every time he says "time"
The ending you unlock is so good, though. Completing it is totally worth it.
I just want to say this game looks amazing, sound amazing and is all-round AMAZING!
BRAID: SHADOW LEGENDS
Man now I want replay Braid it's been so long.
I remember my first time playing Braid. I felt so stupid at times because I couldn't figure out how to get certain puzzle pieces, and having to look up guides on how to get them, thus somewhat staining my experience with it. But I definitely wasn't expecting that twist at the end. I still remember it vividly.
I've been looking for this game, I've played it a while back and forgot what it was called. I love it.

Time is ever marching onwards beyond reality but eternally linked to reality. When you try to understand the complexity of Time and reality it is always harder to connect it to something inside everyday life.

you should start a website with each game you complete with a list of completion criteria. you could even add games you haven't completed because you personally don't want to or you just don't have the time to.
You know, I learned that time is a fuck while tripping on acid recently. Sure it's a thing, but the rate it flows is hardly absolute. First thing I noticed when I dropped was that things were getting weird with time. Time was moving really fast. I was like "Wait it's been an hour? It feels like half an hour". But then things slowed down later on. And it's like that while sober too. The old saying "Time flies when having fun" is an example.
a platforming classic that everyone should play if you ask me
