torrented when i was like 14 or 15 after pirating The Witness, now at 23 and having loved then both a ton (The Witness being my favorite game of all time) i bought TW when i turned 19, and now bought Braid Anniversary Edition before it even launched excited to see what Jon and his team make next

The inclusion of 40 new levels has me intrigued because I know your overall design philosophy of only including levels if they offer new interactions with the game mechanics and also that you pretty much explored everything with the original release.

A masterpiece. So excited to replay this again. One of those games that makes you contemplate video games as an art form, and there sadly aren't many.

Wow... so many sweet memories from a time much happier and lightheated, 16 years are a big slice of life. A lot of loved ones are sadly gone, but this masterpiece brought back a bit of their spirit. This is a gem and the commentary is pure gold. Just buy it and enjoy this amazing piece of Art.

15 years ago, i bought this game on my 360, as it gathered quite the hype. 15 years later, Today i bought and play this masterpiece again. Thank you Jonathan. You deserve all the accolades.

Loved the Witness! Looked up this game as soon as I beat it but held off waiting for this release. Can’t wait to jump into it!

I had been waiting for years, I am so ecstatic to finally play this version of the game. I finished my first run in under 59 minutes and collected 5/8 stars. Hoping to finish the last 3 and then find the new levels. The commentary and concept art after the game ends has been fantastic. Thank you, Mr. Blow.

The art is very original

This was one of the first games I looked for when I first bought my Switch, because I was dying to play it again. Super glad I got finally get to revisit it, and the new stuff is the cherry on top.

What a beautiful and enjoyable masterpiece. Already tried it on "Netflix Gaming". Can't wait for the weekend to dive into old memories with Braid :)

At first I was surprised because I remembered you throwing a tantrum and storming off for good but then I realized that was Phil Fish or whatever his name was, of Fez fame. You are connected somehow though because I have this distinct memory of some "Blowfish" drama from back in the day.

The only thing they have in common is that they were both in the documentary "Indie Game: The Movie"

The game is actually as good as I felt it was hyped up to be. I'm very happy to have purchased it, especially not having played the original Braid. It went under my radar originally and then I learned the anniversary edition is coming out so I thought waiting for it might be good. It was worth it.

Jonathan, I'm going to cop up and apologize on a few levels. You are the reason I went super technical in my gamedev education. With that said, I opted for vim instead of emacs and I neglected to buy this version just yet, because I bought a crap load of games from trenches of indie devs before it came out and then the job market tanked.

It would be nice to see something similliar with The Witness, a masterpiece of game design. Also, waiting for a new game by Jonathan.

My nostalgia for 360 era indies is immense. Last great console Generation imo

One of my favorite games of all time! It was the second game I've ever got on steam, after half-life 2. I just got this edition on steam. It seems you get a bigger discount if you own the original game.

Sometimes wish Steam had a way to optionally overpay games that you really enjoyed. Sort of like the "name your price" schemes that some music sites have.

This is awesome! Now, Mr. Blow, please give us The Witness Anniversary Edition, next. Or even better, The Witness 2. A man can dream.

This should still be in C++, on stream while doing development of the game it can be seen that since a lot of the game is old code and in C++ it gets on his nerves a lot, there's a lot of code he would want to just nuke and rewrite in a better way.

COVID happened. As far as I recall it was because a lot of the commentary/interviews needed to be done in person

The bar has been raised again...This is not just a game. This is not just a 'remaster'. It's a masterclass of/for designing games and communicating about them. What a bargain! The Commentary... what a perfect way to add another meta layer to the work, keeping to the themes and structure of the game. What a great resource for players and professionals. I think this format is a very significant contribution to the mission to spread information *about* games, and bringing the philosophy and design process closer to those who are interested. Hopefully it will foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of what the game is about, below the surface or the narrative layer and inspire other artists, developers, designers and thinkers. I am sure this will also have a huge influence and I hope other games will follow in these footsteps. I feel a deep gratitude to all the people that made this possible, to create such a generous work of art/game/system/artifact... Keep blazing the trail Jon & Co.! Ps. just started reading the book 'A Thousand Plateaus' by Deleuze and Guattari, and this part really in the foreword really struck me (by itself, as well as in regards to Braid or The Witness): "How should A 'Thousand Plateaus' be played? When you buy a record there are always cuts that leave you cold. You skip them. You don't approach a record as a closed book that you have to take or leave. Other cuts you may listen to over and over again. They follow you. You find yourself humming them under your breath as you go about your daily business.
