2019 and this TURN ME ON 🔥🔥❤️❤️
Came back in February of 2022 to listen to this energetic music 🎶 . Panya where you dey?
ok, Panya means rat in Swahili but these boys are Igbo and Panya has a different meaning where they are from. From what I've heard in Igbo language the word Panya' comes from the word 'EsPANYA' which means 'Spain' and we use it mainly towards the people of Equatorial Guinea because they speak Spanish. During the Nigerian civil war many Igbos fled to Equatorial Guinea and a few came back after the war. Those that came back were called 'Panyas' because they came back speaking Spanish'. Still, many Igbos and Yorubas live in Equatorial Guinea. Today we use the word Panya for anyone who speaks Spanish or Portuguese. My guess is that he is either singing about a girl from Equatorial Guinea or he just created the word Panya as an affectionate word for a woman. Nigerian Pidgin English has a lot of Portuguese/Latin words also because the Portuguese were the first Europeans in Nigeria before the Brits took over and also the Agudas/Saro/Amaro people who were freed slaves from Brazil/Cuba who returned back to Naija and settled in Lagos quarter of 'Popo Aguda' which means 'Brazillian Quarter'. Phrases like 'No Sabi wey you dey talk' '' - I don't know what you are talking about' (Sabi/Saber means 'to know' in Portuguese'). "Your Pikin be fine oooh '' (Pikin/Pequenito - child). Now you know what Panya means !!!
