    Moved from 8" to 8.75" yesterday in conjunction with adding negative tiller (-3/8") to my barebow. I was hitting 3 in row in the gold end after end. I don't think I shot below an 8 all night last night. So much less left to right drift. Thanks again Jake, gold just became easy at 75' and I think I can push back to 90-100' before the snow hits!

    Jake - I would agree with James there - the former intro was crisp and distinct - mercifully short too as I like to get into the meat quick! These quick reference shorts are really good refreshers and simple enough for the beginner. As to topics to follow up on: simple basic principles of tuning, use of the button, changing bow weight, setting your nock point, sight adjustment, stabilisers for dummies, different tabs - there's so much even at the basic level. I guess 80% of what I've learned has come from your channel as we don't have that kind of experience in our club. Your trad journey has been equal parts informative and funny, even got me to buy a Old Mountain Symphony Carbon One Piece Recurve - 60" - 40# and it is fun! Keep going!

I’m 57 and just bought my first bow (left-hand Samick Sage, 25#), and enjoying your videos as I build my knowledge base. I agree with another poster (Claudio Olate); can you cover the plunger button? You mentioned it in another video as one of the top five things for beginners to invest in. Thanks!

    Jake, I’ve watched many of your videos and they’ve been a great help. In cases where you don’t have a manufacturers recommendation, such as when you purchase a riser and limbs separately, where do you start for brace height? I have a MyBo wave-x and WNS delta C3 limbs, and it seems neither MyBo nor WNS provides any recommendations for brace height. I find that the low noise area is fairly large. How do I know I’m close to where I should be in this case?

    Hey Jake, snapshot vids great for quick bitesize bits of info. Regarding the intro, bit of blurb from a branding guy... think of you as a brand, your previous intro had more attitude, edge and personality, not so much archery, but unique and distinctive. This new intro sets you much more in the realm of archery and expert, good, but potentially less original and less distinctive. Visually I would be recommending the former with elements of the latter as I believe it would be a better representation of the channel - being a mixture of all things archery, fun and expert. Musically I think you're closer in your original for the same reasons. What the second one does do well is signal to viewers (particularly new viewers) that they're are in the right place for expert advice. Having said that, I still think the previous one with a mix of difference archery disciplines is closer to where you want to be. J

    I recently got a tip from a professional archer. Shoot a few arrows then adjust braceheight, shoot again at same distance and note if the arrows fall higher or lower on the target. Keep experimenting until you are such braceheight that the arrows hit at the highest point. Then you found the spot where the bow is most efficient, that is the correct braceheight.

    Is there a best practice for storing your string? I see some people leaving it on the limbs, twisting it around them so the amount of twists stay the same. I never do this but I do notice that when I store it I typically bend it in the same spots, and I guess those are potential weak spots over time.

    I've got a strange problem with my 74" recurve - 27" ATF-X & XL Uukha 38# SX50 limbs. Now Uukha has a brace height recommendation of 239mm +/-10mm for that size bow with their S series limbs. I've had two 8125 strings made to the length that Uukha recommends, 1785mm, by two different string makers. Limb bolts are in the factory position. With both strings I can't get low enough to that brace height because I'm taking out so many twists the string starts separate into the strands. One string is better than the other. I've found that setting the brace height to 249mm is a good compromise between not taking to many twists out and the bow sounding good. Did I just get unlucky with two strings that are too short or is there something off in Uukha's recommendations?

    The manual brace height is calculated at 28" anchor. Is that correct? If your anchor is 30" should I shorten the brace height?

  • @JakeKaminskiArchery

    @JakeKaminskiArchery

    Жыл бұрын

    Brace Height and your draw length have no correlation. The draw weight is measured at 28" but that is only for reference, if you are drawing back a limb further than 28", you can expect the draw weight to be higher than the weight marked on the limb. For example a long limb on a 25" riser that is marked 40# at 28" would be approximately 44# at 30" depending on the tiller bolt setting.

    A combination of things. When I took the b roll footage, the brace was lower. Plus bow squares have two surfaces that you measure from so it changes if you use the handle vs the string. And also some bows don’t have the plunger directly above the pivot point. It can be forward or back.
