I have a slick way of putting the springs back on. put spring in a vice and place 3-4 zip ties on the collapsed spring then put it on the shaft put the bolt in and cut the zip ties.

I changer the belt tensioner bearing yesterday on my round baler, I just don't now why I never video of me fixing shit. Oh well next time. Bearing always go bad when twine and net rap surrounds them they get so hot they go to shits. Hope you and the wife have a great weekend.

That is a dirty job but somebody has to do it right. Great you got it fixed before all hell would break loose later.

Spot on BCP, good catch before it got worse. Machinery costs sound expensive in Canada. I've been quoted 360 pounds for 4 discs and pads for my car and that includes labour. That's about 500 Canadian dollars. 👍

Yeah my 568 has an auto oiler and i dont like it as the brushes fill up with chaff so i have a gallon jug of old engine oil i pour on every full day of baling just like you did. man i saved a pile of money buying all my chains at Princess Auto now instead of Stealerships or RedFerns

Don't forget the guard you removed in your haste to get baling

It’s not really that bad a job, just takes down time. I changed the drive roller and all the bearings on my BR770A. I got a lot of my bearings from Shoup, but I didn’t have hay on the ground, so I could wait a day for parts. We pressed the old bearings out of the pillow blocks and pressed the the new bearings back in. Saved over 1/2 price on the bearings.

Good day! Your 780 looks like my 660 inside! I have my 660 set at 5x5s and around 1200pounders but it will make over 6ft tall bales and according to my book you can run the tension at 2200psi. And I just replaced that drive roller. They are 2992.92

The idler bearing side is what went and wrecked my roller. The idler bearing is over 200bucks

I believe in oiling chains as well. Tell you where it proved itself. So I had an 860MF and dad had one too. We replaced all the chains in both machines. Dad said don't oil mine it makes dirt stick. I oiled mine everyday. After the a few seasons dad's needed chains again as some were out of tightener and rollers were coming apart. Mine were still good. I had also done some custom work and had over a 100 engine hours more then him.

Fucking cool video man. I have a question: i m interested in the problems that could happen with the round baler during the baling season with focus on the idler sprocket? How often do you change them? What is the main cause of idler sprocket failure? Thanks

Idler sprockets only get changed due to general wear ...approximately every 9-10000 or more bales.

Just for future bearing if you go else where then new holland to buy that bearing it only $110 Just change mine before I started this year baling

Be careful with that grease gun and don’t kill things with kindnesses. That bearing gets to full and out comes that seal!!!

My hardcore jd baler has been a pain in my ass this year. It’s made 500 trouble filled bales while my old 6000$ soft core baler has made 1200 trouble free bales. Sad part is that hardcore only has 12 000 bales on it. The last 4000 bales have been a nightmare on it. Think it’s seen it’s last season here. A guy needs $1500 calves and $80 hay bales just to keep up to inflation this year. Bills are f$cking ridiculous on parts if they even have them.

Dealerships and there cost increases makes no sense. Needed some u joints and refused to pay 300 for the cross assembly. Found out it’s just 1610 drive line and truck shop had for 96.00.

Well my bales will probably sell for 85...1500 for a calf is what we should have got 4-5 years ago

@@bcpfarmandtrucking6560 you know it!! Lol . But make the industry too rich and everyone will want to farm cows. Hahaha. But it’s overdue for a raise in pay for sure.

Why couldn't you just press the old bearing out of the old pillow block and just buy the bearing at a bearing supplier instead of the whole thing at the dealer? $500 seems like a lot for that.

@@bcpfarmandtrucking6560 The bearing will have a number on it that you can cross reference to the bearing manufacturer of choice, including the one that the OEM used. The OEM obviously doesn't make bearings.
