    Thanks. I was hoping to see at least the MCU board and DAC listed in the description. Text works better than video for a lot of things, especially for finding details you know are in there somewhere, but not exactly where.

    *Thanks! Seems to be a great software engineering reference! And it sounds surprisingly nice also! Sending an engineer salute. One of the best open source software projects I have found that isn't on github or similar*

    @@Synthetech Now up and running! My BP synth is wired direct to my PC rather than my keyboard (see comment under 'Connecting up' video) due to deficiencies of my MIDI controllers (or maybe the operator). I still have the waveform tutorial to do, but very impressed so far!

    I used a 3.5 mm jack instead of a DIN socket for Midi, given the modern TRS Midi hype....Saved a bunch in cabling....

    This is really cool, thank you so much for these videos. Hopefully, the algorithm is starting to pick up on this. How difficult is it writing the code for this? The only computer programming I've ever done was on a C64, and supercollider.

  • @Synthetech

    Thanks. The code can be difficult to follow if you have zero C programming experience, but I thought maybe the tutorial vids could be followed as you learn how to program in C. The popularity of the BP Synth is minimal so far.. I have picked up a few hundred subscribers, but there has only been about 120hrs of view time since I released the first video. AFAIK only one person has built the synth so far...

    @@Synthetech Please don't stop expanding on the concept. The algorithm is a heap of crap, and you may be waiting some time for any steam to build up, but there's next to nothing like this, in the format, available. It's invaluable to people on a budget, who just haven't managed to find it yet. I recommend submitting it to various music tech blog sites. I definitely plan on building this, and trying to build my dream 19" rack synth.

    @@tziirkq Thanks for the encouragement. I will try to finish the tutorials up eventually.. but its slow going. I got a new job a little over a year ago and it takes up a lot of my previous free time.. This project was actually meant as a resume builder, but the job came before I finished!

    @@Synthetech I'm visiting china now (not chinese). And typing this near the eye of a typhoon. Think I already have one of those DAC modules, so I may modify it to add a sequencer as I am not traveling with a MIDI keyboard. Honestly making a GUI sequencer could make it more popular (if would like to do so) because a classic MIDI connector isn't as common. Also, to be honest, much of the "human" population of the World is surprisingly remedial. Considered porting it to ESP32? Arduino IDE is easier and more popular seemingly. That is actually a reason I didn't pick up one of those boards already. Mainly been using an ESP32 and an UNO.

  • @rogrevs

    Are there pros and cons to the 2 different DAC modules, or are they much of a muchness? The UDA1334A DAC I ordered was a bit cheaper.

  • @Synthetech

    @Synthetech

    None that I can think of. I kinda prefer the Uda1334A since it uses one less wire and it does seem to be cheaper.. especially if you buy more than one

    Will a 6N137s or 6n138 Octocoupler also work for the MIDI in?

  • @Synthetech

    @Synthetech

    Жыл бұрын

    I believe the 6N137s is the same, just surface mount instead (not breadboard ready). You can use a 6N138, but you need to change the schematic a bit to make it work correctly. The 6N137 schematic I show uses one less resistor than what a 138 would need.

    It would make the build/code more complicated. By having a standard MIDI interface it can connect to any MIDI keyboard.
