A blog is a person's opinion and is protected by the first amendment. Do you believe everything in a blog? Like some blogs talk bad about politicians but do you think everything wrote is true or just opinion? Like Biden has a cognitive disorder I believe that but others don't. That is my opinion and I can write that in a blog. Another opinion everyone living in California is stupid. Yet again my opinion and protected speech. Now if you want to talk fact under oath he said that is his opinion in the blogs. In his blog he is not under oath so can speak opinions or what he believes. You know Biden has a famous quote "truth over facts" what you believe to be true is over the facts.

He didn't come off that way at all (he can be intimidating). I ended up really liking him and unintentionally helped his case even though that certainly was not my intent. @@kenaultman7499 A few thoughts for you: Morality is relative. When it's your life on the line, you're going to want your lawyer to do what they need to do to win. Everyone loves to complain about lawyers until they need one. Another thing to consider: All those soldiers, miners, and construction workers you worship so much? They don't do one iota of work without lawyers doing their share of work first. Period. And when the miners with black lung look to be compensated, who do you think they enlist to represent them, the janitor? Opposing every predatory lawyer is another lawyer protecting their client. Also, drop the 'working indoors' schtick. It's so old. Being a lawyer includes a different type of strength, mental strength. The ability to parse through decades of law and know it well enough to use it in court. Remember, the law is worthless without the lawyers that uphold it. Think twice before you put all lawyers in the same bin. If you think a lawyer is acting immorally, call your congressman, because you have a problem with the law that enabled that attorney, not the attorney themselves.

"Liable" and "crime" are two different things. "Liable" means you owe money in a civil suit. In this case, the theory was not merely that the witness had an opinion, but that he was paid by BP to purposefully spread false information about a BP oil spill. That shows consciousness of BP's culpability. If he says "Yeah, they were lies and I knew they were lies" and then the lawyer can show that he is connected to BP, he makes a real good case that BP knew it was at fault. And that means BP has to pay an awful lot of money.

@@charlieminaj2 That's not how it works. You can and absolutely should object during a deposition. The most common objection (and the one this lawyer makes) is an objection to the form of the question. After the deposition, if the questioning attorney tries to introduce into evidence an answer to a question to which someone objected, the judge will rule on the objection. If he thinks the objection was valid, then the answer gets thrown out and nobody can use it as evidence. Not sure what pleading the Fifth has to do with anything in this video, but yes, you can plead the Fifth during a deposition.

Nick, Please cite caselaw and link to it. You probably should look at the other video where Koury objects a lot for good reason but the OP of the video is a one off throw away account, and various sock posters slammed Koury almost a decade after his death. Seems really Spergy.

You couldn't be more wrong. In Texas, the only two acceptable objections at a deposition are "Form" ie the form of the question is objectionable (leading, calls for speculation, vague, assumes facts, etc, etc) or "responsiveness" ie the answer didn't respond to the question. This is to keep the deposition moving. the Court will address the actual objections later when and if the testimony is offered in court.

When he says the guy has a right to see what the lawyer is taking the quotes from, the cross examiner lashes out because not only is that not an objection, he’s not even the guys representative.
