Yeah, seems like it. Tbh, i feel ike many young people overdo 'Inclusivity'. I mean, i support evvvery single Letter of LGBT+ for my whole life now, but poly is just 'Not the main thing on this Planet' for a reason, no? I think some sort of over-reaction to all the norms society had, is showing its worst face here, making kids confuse 'Love WHO you want' with 'how many you want', which is definetly not the same. I mean, there are poly relationships where not all the people involved have chemistry with all of the group (I think it's called ENM? Ethically non monogamous? I’m honestly so surprised the comments under his video are so….idk normal?? With most ppl agreeing it’s incredibly cringey but that’s it. All my exposure to the “boyfriends webtoon hate” was people calling the author/artist all kinds of terrible names. Calling them homophobic, transphobic, fetishiser, etc etc. seeing some of the “criticism” (which was more often then not blatant hate not only towards the webtoon but to the human who created it). And I even had people tell me in person (not just on Twitter) that because they used caricatures that they were homophobic/transphobic and I was dumbfounded. It felt like they killed a puppy or smth with the amount of hate they were getting

I think why these boyfriends clips feel so awkward has to do with the way the dialogue is written and how flat all of the characters are. The art style is nice and clean AND efficient, which is a good thing for this medium of story telling, but the actual stories they’re telling are very flat because of the nature of the characters being 2D stand ins for people living out the gay experiences they want to have in real life. And to be clear, there’s nothing wrong with that, but I do find it to be the main source of my personal discomfort while watching this, as it feels so manufactured and the interactions are without flaw. It’s uncanny.

Don't forget the super exagerate voice acting. Like a girl with a very girly voice trying to do a guy's voice. Also yeah they way they are written. But i must admit, the animation and the art looks good tho.

I think for the author it's goal is escapism and they took a romcom kind of approach to writing, It's not suppose to be compelling. It's just a gay version of all those super cheesy romance novels

The sad thing is, the art for boyfriends isn’t actually bad, it’s just they didn’t put any thought into the plot line other than “boys kissing and dating”. If they’d actually worked out a good story, it could’ve been a great webtoon. Edit: I’m realizing now my comment sounds kinda rude, so I just want to clarify, this is my personal opinion on the Webtoon, and what I would love to see from it. I completely understand that some people like the incoherency and the lack of angst or anything like that, and that’s completely fine! As an artist I'd like to point out that this web toon has 1 redeeming quality... that color palette is sharp. The color theory carries the story like RWBY or the Pokémon Games... it's just a less interesting story
