I adore this series - so sad it stalled out. Is there anywhere I can find the UF episode?

Let me use this comment as a conduit for responding to these types of questions I've gotten continuously over the last few years. First - thank you so much for watching and enjoying the videos! I really enjoy making them. A little over two years ago I finished the UF episode, and ran into a myriad of copyright issues pertaining to the Live Aid footage when trying to upload the video. I tried for a long time to reshape the video to get around these copyright issues without affecting the quality of the video (both visually and creatively). After about a year I took a break, just getting too frustrated after seemingly taking all possible pathways to try to get it uploaded (including attempting to contact Bob Geldof). I still intend to upload the UF episode to KZread one way or another, and I have larger plans for the rest of the series at large. The series is not cancelled in any way, but maybe on hiatus. I will not attempt to predict any timeframe the next episode will be uploaded, because I've been really bad at that in the past and I don't want to set expectations that I don't 100% know that I can hold to. But again, thank you for watching! I still read every comment made on this channel, even today, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the kind words on a hard day.

@@ihazshort8093 It's neither new or old, it is timeless. There is no other album of its kind.
As someone who was obsessed with Boy and clung to it during the last two months of my senior year in 2015, it’s so nice to see someone else be passionate enough to make an informative video about it. This album is so raw and painful but I will never forget it.

I still.remember when i was 17 years old and a friend of my older brother who was into his music said to me , so you want to here some good music and handed me a copy of U2 Boy. It was amazing. You haven’t heard of it? You will!! 40 years later still going strong
I was a U2 fan from the age of ten or so, and it wasn't until last week, thirty years later, that I finally sat down and listened to Boy for the first time. I absolutely love it, especially An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart. It has such a great feel to it. I always was more into the atmospheric Unforgettable Fire and the dark Achtung Baby/Zooropa, but Boy may have knocked them out of first place. No idea why it took me so long to listen to the album. That said, I have also yet to listen to October, lol. One of these days....

Brother, I’m 57 and was lucky enough to know U2 from their beginnings. Over the many years, so many records have been spun. It’s hard to remember sometimes older albums when you get consumed by new stuff. Of course for many, the songs found on Boy remind us of U2’s younger raw thrash days. Do yourself a favor & do a chronological listen of their stuff.
Boy, was; and still is, my favorite album.

TheMightybasstone Happy 2020 2U 🤠 I have been in so many bands over the years . I play bass and vocals . And each band I was ever in , we had to include “ I Will Follow “ . My favorite time singing it , was ( are you ready )?? Was in 1987 . I was in Guam during my Navy days , and there was a local band playing on the island . That band kicked ass !!! They were so good !!! ( can’t think of their name right now but it will come to me ). Anyway - during a break , I was talking to the lead singer . I asked him , if They wouldn’t mind me joining them onstage to sing “ IWF “. They did . I was so nervous. ( I had about 30 of my shipmates in attendance- and they never heard me sing 🎤). Well - We pulled it off and the place went into another gear all of a sudden . They really liked it and invited me back to do more . God ! Those were the days !!!! Just wanted to share that with you. And I just subscribed. Hope to connect 🙏 Have a Safe and happy 2020 ❤️🤠🔪

Just when I thought I knew all there was to U2, this doc and the War Album doc tells me otherwise. Great job! I hope the upcoming Netflix take on the band explores a lot of this stuff I did not know. The band has been a personal salvation since " War" and sealed with the Joshua Tree album to now. Unlike many, I can see past Bono's political grandstanding where it has never affected my admiration of the band. More like this on the whole catalog!

I went to high school with the Bodeans, and I remember the headiness of knowing that these "home town boys" I only knew in the halls of school were starting a meteoric rise...so we hoped. Sadly, they never became another U2, only reaching more of a regional audience, though they did have a few national hits. This was a great documentary, please do more for each of their albums if you can - especially delving into Bono's lyrics, which are many times intense and gut wrenching.

I learn’t to play guitar bc of The Edge, particularly “An Cat Dubh” for some reason. It spoke to me and I was able to pick out the dissonant notes. Incidentally it was the first song that told me to tune down the guitar a half step to play the album like they did. Breaking the rules like Hendrix did too.

Excellent video! I’ve been a tremendous fan of U2 for decades and I never knew about Bono’s tirade over his split pants or his throwing Larry’s drum kit into the audience. Interesting little nuggets!
A couple corrections: The gig where they signed their record deal was The Stadium. The national boxing stadium on South Circular Road, with Bill Stewart from Island. The Lyceum is in London not Dublin. They had great shows there but it wasn't where they signed to Island.
Boy è uno dei più grandi dischi d'esordio di tutti i tempi
Very interesting and it really took me back to the early 80s when I first experienced their music and really loved their whole vibe. That continued for me well into the early 2000s...and I realize Bono is trying to help people, etc...but I can't get past the political grandstanding (as I see it), although I know that tons of fans love him/them because of it. For me, it was always about the music, and the joy I still feel when I listen to that first album really gets to me every time. A truly great group whose sum total, much like The Beatles, far outweighs their individual parts. They were just meant to be together and create their music.
Need more. Please

One of the best bands in the world back when they were just 4 guys playing/singing on stage. Before glitzy spectacle and messianic posturing became more important than music.

Frank Bama messianic?? Messianic posturing is right here in this early footage!. What did Bono say when he ripped his pants: ‘I bought these to be like you’. Here, he is *exactly in the spirit of messiah - cos Messiah bought our death to be like us! He didn’t die his own death - those weren’t his trousers! You might say messiah split his trousers, my trousers, and became a laughing spectacle, naked on a Roman cross because he wants so to identify with humanity! This is *exactly messianic!!
