WELL SAID JAY. I COME FROM A BOXING PERSPECTIVE THE BOXER VS. WRESTLER HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME. IF WING CHUN CAN INCORPORATE LATERAL HEAD MOVEMENT THIS COULD HELP GREATLY IN FIGHTING A FIGHTER WITH THE HEIGHT REACH ADVANTAGE. THANK YOU FOR AN INTERESTING VIDEO THUMBS UP A SECOND VIDEO WOULD BE GREAT. DAVID PORTER

This is actually a great constructive point, wing chun ppl afraid to lose structure when tilting the head, but in my opinion, come from kinesiology background, the allignment and structure, balance should be dynamic, so when performning lateral head movement you could still be able to maintain the balance of the engagement happen, sorry for going all nerdy n stuff haha

You have to start BJJ... then you will understand that Wing chun with Bjj is the best combination and it is a great combination to understand each other also better.

Does your Shifu have weak strikes? Not at all. Also remeber we have kicks in our style to adjust for long range to mid range (helped me when I was attacked by a man with a machete). Not saying we are better than boxers because there is no style better than another style. It really depends on the person using that style of fighting and how well they can incorporate that to whatever situation of combat. Always remember sparring and actual life or death fighting is completely different. Life or death, I will punch someone straight in the neck (that's what our punches are really designed for). Great video, keep them coming (love your energy).

@@bravelilspidey lovely, i would say the most important attribute to develop, try to feel it dont rush or brutally go through it, it will improve even your empty hand skill significantly. Good luck on that. Cheer

my problem with all these eastern arts is that theres a lack of real sparring where youre actually getting pressured by the other guy, the biggest martial art from the east to do this is muay thai and because of that it has since gone to beceom the most effective all around striking martial art. Other arts like shotokan karate and wing chun need to incorporate true sparring and legit full contact tournaments like what boxing and muay thai has. Every time i see wing chun its mostly just drills and shotokan karate tournaments are point abesd cause of the olympics. Even koykoshin has issues becasue no punches to the face are allowed, thats the one part every thug from the street will aim for if youa ctually get attacked

Yes, good points. I see that a lot of WC guys have no idea what to do when in distance or too close. They only train for that specific closeness of chi sao. I agree that beying well rounded in every distance is better. I plan to train BJJ as soon as I can.

Yeah, only that specific range before grappling n shorter than striking range works for wc. Unless a fighter is comfortable with all ranges including ground work, its pretty much suicide if they fight against mma practitioner. Yeah bro, bjj is pretty rock as far as i experience from my bjj friends. Love your input bro

Trapping is the stage or range of fighting between wrestling and boxing. That halfway point when you too close to use standard punches but instead use things like elbows, back fists, knife hand chops and you don’t want wrestle to the ground and figh I dont do wing chun but I do mantis which has trapping as well.

@@LunaticReason wow thats great modification of trapping to use in boxing, very tight, like it. Yeah most of kungfu style has trapping hand, some karate style n filipino martial art cause i only know those styles. Trapping helps me alot with my reflex, especially with a stronger bigger opponent
